Philly Area Candy Cab Group Buy

EDIT: Funds have been collected. Order has been placed with vendor for the cabs. This group buy is CLOSED pending delivery.

I'm testing the waters to see if some of the forum members within driving distance of Philly would be interested in doing a Candy Cab group buy. I don't yet have a vendor or any other details, like cost. A candidate vendor would be Coinopexpress or similar. Basically, the point would be to fill or nearly fill a shipping container from Japan/Hong Kong such that we can minimize the freight cost and possibly get a discount on cabs. I've never done this before, but if there's enough people interested, I can facilitate. I, personally, would be interested in an Astro City, Blast City, Impress, Q25, Neo Candy 25/29.

I contacted Ken:

A container holds around 60 cabinets. Can you get that many buyers?

The more cabinets you get the less per cabinet the shipping cost will be. Let me know how many you are thinking about and I'll get a quote. I'm guessing at 6 cabinets shipping should be less than $200.00 each.

When I know how many cabinets you are getting we can see about discounts.

Also, should this thread be moved to "Everything Else" under "Marketplace"?

The cabs would be coming towards you in the Philly area right daskrabs? I would definitely want one, I'd prefer an astro, but wouldn't mind a new astro, or egret 2 if they had it. if this goes down, I am definitely in.

I've dealt with Ken before and he's a good guy. He's located in UT and bring in his cabs through CA... So if this ends up being a real thing, you should open this up to CA as well. If people want to collect their cabs or have them shipped from the Bay Area I can help.

I also bought my astro from Ken, no problems with the deal, it all went down well, cab was shipped from Utah with about $450 in shipping, so I;m considering a drive to pa, or at least paying less than that for shipping.

Just be wary these cabs most likely will need a little work controls wise, so get any joysticks or buttons ordered ahead of time. Usually the controls are trashed on these cabinets.

It's also possible an astro or two may come with a 1P control panel only. So might be helpful to pick up a spare control panel.

Hey kid, that would definitely work for me, I know there is interest on the shmups forum now for a cali buy, but I really don't wanna do the shipping from there, I think It would cost the same if not more than the cabs themselves.

I'm interested. My intentions are to see what happens with the shmups group buy, Kenchan said things are still up in the air, but he would like to see a number of cabs make it to the east coast. He also said half of what he gets he'll hang onto until June. I'd probably be more inclined to see the results of the first batch, and if things went well, try to get in on the second batch.

If this group buy starts to take shape it might be more worthwhile for me. A number of member here and at shmups contacted me in regards to getting a north east batch secured. Let's start a list of usernames who might be in on this.

I'm interested in VS City, a Neo anything + B One CP, & Namco CyberLead. I'm only in the Philly area until Summertime.

After that, I'll be hitting Matsu up.

What's the timetable on this?

Depending on timing and price I would probably be down for an Impress or 2. I know those can be a bitch to find, but I'm in the middle of restoring 2 New Astro's so not much interest in one of those from me.

I just bought one from Ken and also paid out the ringer in shipping, might be interested in another NAC depending on price. They look better in sets of 2

I'd like 2 at the least... one vert and one horizontal. Fighters and shooters, baby.

A third would be sweet to have, but I'd want a different model.

EXACTLY what I had in mind also, I want one more astro for vert, but if I could get 2 cabs, I think I would shoot for an astro and an E2. Wataru, I don't think we have a time frame yet, just trying to drum up interest in east coasters. It's not a deal breaker of course, but any chance we can see some official stools out of this? just curious.
