Can we please disable neotheranthrope's IMG function?

I'm sure he'll reply to this with an animated sunglasses thing of "deal with it" or something equally retarded

It would be awesome if it were real and similar to the appearance.

Re: the obvious Photoshopping. Is there a reason to believe the images were originally promoted as real images of the device rather than a mock-up?

So it's been a while. Did anything official come from this? Tons of sites ran with it being official and another few I read said it was fake. Neither the company making it or SNK/Playmore came out with anything. Famicom Plaza's original post about it is gone and I haven't heard if they got told to take it down or if they just removed the page all together.

"About 15 years ago, I bought a Neo Geo at an antique store. I paid $1. And I still think I overpaid.". Someone should punch Don Reisinger right in his fucking throat.

Reviewers these days have no clue about maintaining any level of objectivity when talking about a subject. I wouldn't expect anyone who maintains such a mainstream outlook on gaming to understand or even place any real value on any Neo Geo product. I stopped reading the article after the first sentence.

As for the new device? I'll be happy to see it materialize, but I won't hold my breath.

The mockup may have been to gauge interest. This quickly flew across the interweb and popped up on many news sites and the feedback could be invaluable if something like this is being done. It was mentioned pages back that some company did acquire the rights to the name and some roms and something is indeed in the works. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be great to get something a little nicer than the Dingoo... something with a clicky stick, volume & brightness buttons, a standard SD slot, and so on.

Well I must admit when I first saw this I wanted instantly until everyone said it was a hoax. If neo geo pocket 2 were ever to come out I love this design and would also like it to support wireless adhoc game play and bluetooth audio as well as the ability to play everything neo geo has to offer! I'm sure with quad-core consoles, tablets and cell phone coming out this year this could easily be done. I'm just saying is all. Hah!

Although I still won't hold my breath over the possibility of another Neo Geo handheld, if enough interest generates it could spark an actual production run even if these photos were a fake. As in the case with ThinkGeek and the iCade a couple of years back. - http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/e762/

What once started out as a cool April Fool's Day joke actually became a product I saw on shelves at Best Buy. And yeah, as soon as I get the iPad that will be one of my first extra purchases. Now if only Capcom and SNK/Playmore made their IOS games iCade compatible...

I think upon closer inspection, most people realized it was a shopped Iphone.

Yeah, that thing is very nice. Considering it's just a bluetooth controller, i wish someone would just issue a standard bluetooth controller for the IPad/Ipod and then I could simply use a picture stand to get the same effect except in wide format instead of tall (which looks cool in the cab but makes less sense for classic gaming).

Might be worth checking out, depending on the price.

It looks really nice but from an enginerring point of view, you couldn't fit the "clicky stick" in that small space. At less the microswitches are really small and the springs are even smaller, the problem is that even if they have come up with a way to make it fit well, there's gonna be a very small circunference to work with making it less precise like the NGPC stick we all love. I for one like the NGPC stick better than the Neo CD pads or the new marvel/DPD fighting pads. I think the best D-pad on a handheld ever is the GBA SP. Buttons and D-pad are all microswitches, no rubber contacts to talk about.

Sixth, my man. I'm sure you're a good fighter and all but your theory of D-pad vs Stick or microswitches is extremely bogus. The deadzone of activation or the "throw" of a stick is present in a digital pad, the rubber actuators cause the dead zone in anything of this nature. Everyone has their forte be it D-pad or stick. I know is a matter of preference but with that said; "throw" is no absent in any digital pad.

As far as this Neo gadget, I call it fake but I'd love to be wrong.

I'm sure there's alot of you who have been waiting to hear something on whether this was ever real or a hoax, but we still haven't heard anything. Well, I found this posting on another board:

Dr Manhattan, on Mon Feb 13, 2012 4:42 PM, said:

This is a status update and a plea for help.

I have repeatedly sent messages to SNKplaymore about this product and I still have not received a reply. Usually when I contact this company, as I have done in the past, they are fairly quick about their response. Their silence on this issue is a bit puzzling. I think if it was a hoax they would have just told me flat out.

If you have any information on this product, please contact me. If you know anyone I can speak to, please send me a PM. Thanks very much for your help.
-----------------------------------------

Well I just talked to some people at some companies that I thought would have some inside info. I have good news and (possibly) bad news.

This system (according to them) is completely REAL and was designed by SNK Playmore. However, it is NOT being made by them. It is being outsourced to another company.

Tommo has U.S. rights, Blazepro has Asian rights, and BigBen has European rights. Its expected for a late March/Early April release.

Now for the possible bad news...if Tommo does not feel there will be enough interest they will not bother releasing this to the U.S. market and that means you will probably have to acquire it from overseas. Tommo only deals with large retailers normally, they would not deal with someone like me. Just look at their vendor list. So my suggestion to anyone who wants to see this make it to the U.S. is e-mail Tommo and let them know.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, apparently it is real and SNK Playmore were in charge of the design but are not the ones manufacturing it. Tommo apparently has the U.S. distribution rights but will not solicit a release to the States unless they see that it warrants interest. Head over to http://www.tommo.com and shoot them off an e-mail to show your interest and let's see if it gets the go ahead.

I'm going to have get my hands on one - go back and try it again. I'm going off memory, and I'm a big enough to man to admit that I might be off base here.

I hope everyone is lovingly excited in wanting a preloaded romset with no continuous physical support.

^Just like all the other GP32s, Dingos, GP2Xs and every other handheld emulator we have bought, nothing new nor alienating so yes I'm very excited and I'm glad more people feel the same. Why do you always gotta act like this?

People are dumb. SNKPLAYMORE doesn't own the rights to use the name SNK anymore.

Neo.emu just came out on ios and it fucking kicks ass. xperia play is a free phone now. nobody should buy this shit even if it were real.

Cool cool cool

Even if they don't bring it to the US, someone will import them. I didn't buy the dingoo a320 in a store, yet I managed to get the system.

It's cool they did the design work on this, even though it's not like this is the same company it once was. Everything is outsourced these days for production. So it doesn't bug me at all that chinese folks will manufacture these as they manufacture the iphone, ipod, ipad, xbox 360, wii, ps3... pretty much all the hardware these days seems to come out of foxconn or some other chinese company.

Hopefully the OS on this thing is sweet.

As for the iOS getting a neo emu... Until it comes packed with physical buttons it's just not the same kind of experience. Especially versus a clicky pad for direction input.

Now.. if we can just get a price of $100 or ... heck... less.
