The list of games that I have never played before is long:

Dead or Alive and associated spinoffs
Console FPS in general
Metal Gear Solid series
MMOs in general
Onechanbara series
Persona/Shin Megami Tensei series (although I own P3 now and will prolly start on it soon)
Rumble Rose
Star Wars in general
Tales of Phantasia series
Uncharted series

The question which is demanded by this thread is:
Does one "miss out" on a trend/fad by telling it to go fuck itself because it's unnecessary or just not of one's personal preference?

Dead or Alive-- Not into most polygonal fighting games
Console FPS in general-- Stupid to play if one can play them on a computer
Metal Gear Solid series-- Tried it, didn't get caught-up in a "trend"
MMOs in general-- Nice to have when there's nothing important in life
Rumble Rose(s)-- Basically just the predecessor to every WWE game nowadays
Star Wars in general-- Watch a movie or read a book

I mean, the list would go-on forever if one had to describe every video game trend on which he "missed out" because he chose not to jump on a bandwagon. Worse yet, these things wouldn't be "trends" if they didn't get popular, yet there's hundreds of not-so-popular games that are worth playing out there, and I'd rather try the ones I can't come to understand by going-over to anyone's house.

ohh man I can't even list half of the stuff I've missed out on, but I haven't played most of the things listed in this thread for sure.

COD (never played any of them...or anything by Activision for that matter), and DDR died for me when Konami started putting all the american music in it.

My list of titles on the backlog is so long that I don't even know what I'm missing. I just finished Xenosaga 3 a few weeks ago, now I'm on FF 12. And yep this marks the first time I'm playing them. XD

Hmm... Here's my list.

Phantasy Star Online
Online FPS
Pokemon
Gran Turismo/Driving games in general
Sports games

Guess that's it, as far as big trends go... The only one of those I regret is PSO. The rest was a conscious decision to pass on and remains so.

MMORpg's
Pokemon
DoA
Counter-Strike
Halo
CoD
Tekken, to an extent. (Last one I played was Tag Tournament on the PS2)
Uncharted (I know that these are highly regarded but I just get a "meh Tomb Raider" vibe from them, so generic.

Last, but not least: all of these "tap buttons in time and pretend you are playing an instrument" games. Rock band, DJ Hero, etc... these are the epitome of lameness.

Cell phone games.

Having video games on a device I bring with me everywhere would crush me into zombie-dust.

Pokemon
WoW (or any MMO)
Gears of War series

Sort of feel bad for those who missed out on the Uncharted and to some extent, the CoD series.

The biggest trends/fads I've missed out on was Pokemon, CoD and similar games, DDR, modern RPGs, MMOs, etc.

Basically anything that's not a shmup, fighter, action platformer, turn-based RPG/war game, arcade racer, future sports, BmU, Resident Evil or Jeff Minter game. :)

Every Guitar Hero and spinoff game after 3
Virtua Fighter..oh no wait, that was never a trend.
Devil May Cry series
Every Halo after 3

PC gaming, all of it.
Tablet gaming, all of it.
Cell/Smart phone gaming, all of it.

I believe I've enjoyed or atleast tried everything else.

Pokemon
Metal Gear Solid
World of Warcraft
Halo
Dragon Quest

To be honest, the series on my list I have pretty much purposely avoided. From what little I've played or seen of any of the above series, I didn't care for (except for Dragon Quest). Not to say that all those series suck, they're just not my cup of tea.
