8man's "Metal Slug" Home Theater

Growing up, we always had to use the "family TV" to tap our systems into to play our games. Then, clean everything up and bring the games back into our room.

Hmmm, games, dedicated room :drool_2:

My idea of the Home Theater/Game Room has evolved.
As a gamer, I designed and built my Home Theater to #1 Play GAMES!! and #2 watch movies. All my game systems are routed to the BIG screen and can be played at the highest resolution!! Even my Arcade Boards are Super Gunned to the equipment. I have a 4-slot for the "arcade" feel, but the Massive screen and sound system are incredible!!

:A: 20' x 20' x 10' Home Theater featuring Metal Slug
:B: HUGE 7'+ tall screen!! (16:9 ratio)
:C: 1000'+ of wiring for programmable lights/outlets
:D: High-tech equipment: Rotel, Sim2 1080p, B&W Theater speakers

Neo Geo 4-Slot MVS
Custom Built Portable Game Table
Gold cove lighting
Poster lights for 7 SNK Posters
Custom designed 2-sided poster frames
Vertical motorized game shelving
Frig, Microwave, Popcorn Machine, Candy vault

HDTV, Netflix, AppleTV, SlingBox HD
PS3, XBox 360, Wii
Neo Geo AES/MVS/Hyper 64, Atomiswave, Taito X2

Even if I had a screen 7' tall I would still stand 3' away from it while playing games.

Pool project almost finished!!

Rock structure is finished, just working on the water cannons now. I'll update that thread soon.
I'm working directly with Zodiac. They are sending me demo nozzles to see which works best for the water cannons.
Also, I'm testing their in-ground Laminar Deck Jet... water shoots out in color.
If it goes well, they may produce a water cannon line based on my specs.

3' away the speakers are blasting in your ears!!
The massive speakers (Left, Center, Right) are right behind the screen!!
The custom sound screen has microscopic holes in it that allows the sound to travel through it.

In other words, when the characters are speaking, the sound comes directly from their mouths...
(Most home theaters have the speakers on the sides or at the bottom of the screen.
The speakers try to simulate the sound coming from the screen, but it's just not right.)

When you stand 7' away (inside the Kinect play box), the XBox 360 Kinect is amazing!
The characters on the screen are taller than you!!

Seating is about 16' back from the screen.
Didn't want restrictive theater seating...
Used my old leather couch that is really comfortable!!
I added extension cables so my favorite AES joysticks will reach.

Nice, only thing I'd change is get rid of the micro and put a mini popcorn machine/stand. I saw some that were small counter top ones.

It seems like your center channel sound will be a little muddled by your L+R channels.

That is so amazing 8man. Kudos to good planning and megabucks.

If you don't mind telling me, are those posters you have framed reprints? I know that a lot of Neo art is usually on the small side which makes for making me a sad panda when I want to spruce up my area.
