Only a complete fuckwit would choose season 3 over 4.
Either you weren't bright enough to follow the conversation because I didn't spell everything out at a 4th grade level, or you saw an opportunity to defend Ninny by purposely misunderstanding.
In the future, I'll be sure to make my statements clear enough for someone of your reading comprehension or maturity level respective to the scenarios outlined above.
You're a pretty angry guy. I'm glad those opinions aren't getting to you.

Dexter got a couple kills in, they didn't wait until halfway through the season to introduce the main antagonist (plus Dexter may actually show an interest in him, unlike the brothers from last season or the Skinner from 3), I don't know what happened to Rita's kids but no big loss because it means the story won't go in the awful direction the books did (with those kids at least), Harrison has somewhere to go so we don't have to worry about babysitters like last season, saw some tits, Masuka got his moments, and Angel and LaGuerta got a divorce thank god.
I'm giving the first episode a thumbs up for now. I know the Quinn and Debra angle will be annoying but every Debra plotline is annoying so I'll live.
The Harrison in Catholic school plot also gives a nice opportunity to explore the differences between Harry and Dexter. Namely, Harry was only interested in Dexter avoiding jail while Dexter actually seemed to want to do good.
There's a scene in season 2 or 3 where Harry takes Dexter to an execution and he asks Dexter what the number 1 rule is. Dexter says "make sure it's the right person" while Harry says it's "to not get caught." That sort of thing that will have to show up if they develop baby Harrison as a future killer.
Yeah, I thought this episode was all right. I read this thread earlier today and was pretty shocked at the negative reception. OK, not shocked, but ready to be let down and to see Angel cry for 47 mins... It wasn't that bad. It showed Dexter taking out a few bad guys, it established a new threat and I really didn't mind all of the religious stuff introduced. I'm not saying it was the best episode ever or anything, but it really wasn't as bad as I was being led to believe.
Things that are getting incredibly annoying after five seasons:
1) Debra constantly losing her temper, swearing, being the station mattress, and possessing a very narrow skillset to be the Lieutenant. She's better suited as a lead detective with her hunches and investigative techniques, leaving the Lt position for an actual office manager.
2) Angel and Masuka having very little depth. Yes, we know they both like tits. Yes, they can't keep a relationship going. Yes, they do their job adequately and predictably. But is there any actual character evolution in five years?
3) Dexter having seemingly 36 hours in every day. Honestly, he has the time to put in a full workday while either sitting in the office or driving around the entire town to crime scenes, do independent side research, trail his potential victims, AND spend quality time with his son including the ritual of putting him to bed. How many fathers out there can put a kid to bed with all the crap he does in under two hours?!? What about actually dispensing his victims, prepping the room, cleaning it up and removing all evidence, chopping up the bodies, then dumping them in the ocean and still having time to tend to Harrison at home?
The show is still watchable, but if this is another season without major character changes, it's going to be mediocre just as Seasons 2 & 3 were.
I did, but Season 3 was the first season of Dexter that I watched. That may have something to do with it, but I did feel that season 4 could have ended a few episodes early. It's like the story arc was done but they sold showtime a set number of episodes and had to add some filler to fulfill their end of the bargain. Only a complete fuckwit would choose season 3 over 4.
I liked the way "just let go" episode ended, sort of like "giving in" and then Brian showing up like that... it was shocking, in a good way.
However "Nebraska" put him right back in the "good path". I liked that small detour Dexter took, I wish it would have lasted longer, I mean Travis sure seems to have redeemed himself for good, although I doubt he has actually quit ...
Not actually a spoiler but a theory...
Spoiler:
Anyone else think Prof. Gellar is only inside Travis head? like Harry is inside Dexter's ?

That might be possible but the freed hostage testified that there were two people. Unless Travis is speaking in the professor's voice too, I would doubt Travis is seeing things.
Yeah, that thought popped into my head too, but like wasabi said it's not possible.
I tell ya. This last episode was nearly downright silly. I can't figure out where they're going with all this.
Dexter seems to genuinely enjoy killing people, and the show doesn't back away from that -- except Dexter is constantly trying to search for 'light' within himself (*groan*), and vying for redemption all the while.
He murders people without remorse, sometimes even though they don't deserve it (there's been at least one case where he was wrong about someone, but didn't seem to care much), but the show doesn't seem to think he's a bad guy.
I dunno. We'll see how it ends. If nothing else, Colin Hanks has been doing a pretty good job alongside Olmos, and I remain interested enough to be invested. I think this show's best days are behind it though.
Oh, here's my theory, by the way: Olmos is gonna kill Hanks.
