Yeah the dude said it takes around 25 days. I assume that's business days, but the customer service line is open 7 days of the week.

Pretty much fucking sucks.

Basically you can't go on XBL during the period your account is suspended.

With so many people getting hacked, don't be surprised if the wait goes beyond 25 days.

Yeah, sucks but whatever. I'm not to stressed about it. I haven't really been using live in the last couple of months.

Microsoft contacted me about the hack today. I guess they're finally looking at it. For reference, I reported this 10/8.

Anyways, the guy called with questions. I made him confirm some details, and my reference number. He needed the console ID number and serial number. He was amazed the first guy didn't get this. I provided the info and he told me I'd receive an e-mail with information on regaining access to my account, as well as a code or something for lost points. I asked what would happen to the hacker and he basically said they'd just ban consoles that accessed my gamertag since I made the report. I explained that I was able to recover my own gamertag, and that I'd done so before I filed the report. I also explained that the first guy took down all this information. I went ahead and gave him the serial # and console ID of my second Xbox.. This seemed to really confuse the dude.

I expect that the next MS problem I'll have is 2 banned 360's.

Wow. That is pretty fucking piss poor.

You'd think they'd handle shit like this better than Sony did. But it seems they aren't... Fuck.

Guy who took my info got my console and serial ID numbers...I can only hope that with how many accounts have been fucked with that MS starts working faster...

It seems pretty clear that they MUST eliminate DLC that you can trade with your "friends". I don't care how many soccer fanboys eat it up, that's the source of the problem. Otherwise when a console is banned, the entire reason they hacked would be eliminated. As it is, they do a bunch of hacking with 1 Xbox.. and who knows how large a time period they have. It might be weeks. MS catches up and bans that console, which they prob JTAG and sell. Meanwhile, they've milked hundreds.. maybe thousands of dollars worth of DLC from people and sold it off to other consoles.

It's a virtual trading card thing. You buy "Gold Packs" that you open on screen. You sift through the random cards you got, and you decide what to add to your team, what to discard, and what you want to use for trades.

There are youtube videos and such.

Who the hell would buy DLC for a soccer game?

What is there worth buying?

Post above.. The packs of soccer cards. I think you use them to build an "ultimate team" and compete online. Looks like the cards add players to your team. I'm not 100% sure though, just did some Google trying to figure it out myself and found a video.

Looks like this is happening to a lot of people. All with FIFA or some other EA game. So either the fault is with EA or Microsoft but both are denying it.
There is a thread on neogaf and there is at least 20 people whose account has been hacked in the past two months.

Be on the look out...

Edit: Also saw my brother playing Fifa 11 the other day...will have to call to make sure he was actually playing it and someone didn't hack his box either.

Im wondering, has those who have been hacked played the new Battlefield recently?

Wow. That's really shitty man, I feel for ya dude. I pray to the lord baby jesus that I haven't been hacked yet. Now you're making me paranoid - congratulations.

I think it's real shitty that Microsoft makes you keep your credit card information stored in your system like that.

No, I do not own BF3.

An Arstechnica a user posted something interesting. He didn't lose much in the hack and he didn't want to deal with any 25 day lockout. He recovered his hacked account and changed the password to something 12 characters, totally random with numbers, letters, and special characters. It doesn't get any stronger than that. He was using only Linux, with up to date security software. He also did a scan of his machine for malware. He should have been good to go, but he was hacked again in 11 days.

So basically it doesn't look like a brute force hack. Nor does it look like malware or phishing (but we knew this already).

Somebody is compromised and doesn't want the media to know this. Of course this makes sense to me, since I was hacked the moment I added $50 worth of points to my account.

Well the issue isn't what to do in the meantime, it's whether or not it is going to continue getting hacked. Right now there is an unexplained vulnerability that goes well beyond end-user issues.

Oh great. And it will only get worse as consoles are connected to the Internet...:oh_no:

I still think it's EA that's been compromised. Wonder if it has anything to do with ORIGIN?

I agree with this. I also don't understand why MS allows these peripheral companies to connect into Live.

They've had the Origin thing going, but also they've been merging in the Star Wars MMO accounts too. If you created an account looking to get into the Star Wars beta then that trumped your existing EA login information.

I agree that it's annoying as a user to have to already have an Xbox live account, and then have to create another account, like one for EA games (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, BF1943, etc...) or even say the various PSO games on XBL where you had to pay the XBL subscription, AND the games subscription. Dumb.

I got hacked too, I don't own fifa, and havent played xbox in over a month. 10/26 Someone bought 10,000 xbox points through my account, MS said it would take a month for the investigation to take place, I only hope my bank will reverse the charges, though I doubt it :/

What were the points spent on? Do you have Fifa achievements now?

I too also had not really played my Xbox in about 2-3 weeks before it happened.

BioWare takes security very seriously. As we ramp up to the launch of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, we are implementing additional security controls to maintain the safety of your account and personal information. One of these security measures includes ensuring all passwords meet best practices around password strength. As a result, all accounts created on or before October 21st, 2011 must reset their password to meet the new security standards. Just like for any other user account you have, changing your Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ password on a regular basis is one of the simple measures you can take to protect your personal information.

Your Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ account credentials are linked to EA.com and Origin.com, so your new password will be applied across all three websites.

We will implement the reset within the next few weeks, so look for a reminder email from us. For more information about this, head over to our Forums or read our News Article.

Translation: We have a security breach. Once we fix it, we'll need everyone to have a new password.

They wont tell me and my account is locked until the investigation is over. I have no way of knowing what the ass fuck did with my 153.00
