What's the problem? Doing stuff like that is actually good for your economy in the long run.

How so? For every "undocumented immigrants" as they like to say that gets financial aid...a citizen doesn't receive it. Plus think about this: "Under AB 131, undocumented immigrant students will be eligible for state Board of Governors fee waivers, student aid programs administered by a college or university..." How many of those "undocumented immigrants" will pay those student aids back? What's stopping them from moving some where else since we know squat about them...

more educated "undocumented immigrants" is the only way we will ever push the envelope in taco technology, to oppose this dream act is to oppose superior tacos, opposing superior tacos is UNAMERICAN!

I'm happy to hear you are moving to Japan. Hopefully for a nice long stay, so you can get some firsthand experience of being on the receiving end of a little ignorant and paranoid bigotry yourself. It might make you a bigger person.

I lived there for a year and had no problems what so ever.

You weren't paying attention then.

I had a reply typed up right when you made this thread, then thought, "why bother?" But, what the hell?

I love how people fancy Japan to be some fucking fairytale land where all your dreams come true. I hope it turns out to be that way for you.

I don't think it's a fairytale land, I just like the place....also that and my healthcare coverage is way too expensive here....

Fair enough, I suppose. I guess it is nice paying a lot less for health insurance.

I guess what I should have said is that it's funny that people seem to ignore the social problems Japan has.

Where in Japan are you going to live?

Most likely in the Fukuoka area also I'm very aware that Japan has tons of social problems, but I personally didn't experience any.

What makes the dream act good? It seems like a shitty move against the legal residents of the state.

People who live in other countries and people who have been out of college for 20 years sure have a funny idea of what's really going on.

Our colleges have had severe budget cuts for the last 3-4 years, and likewise with the grant and scholarship money. There's not enough money to go around... and yet here we are making it legal for illegals to get a piece of the already badly shrunken pie.

Do you have to be a documented undocumented person in order to be eligible?

Yeah I dont actually get that.

Could someone just say, Mi nombre es Jose Lopez, write it down, and you're good to go?

And applying for loans too?

Color me confused.

Yeah but if we gave all the illegals immigrants amnesty tommorrow then this issue would come up immediately, since we'd be dealing with an influx of citizens.

I guess what I'm saying is that is would be cruel to kick them out, so we might as well integrate them into the system so they pay taxes, etc. I think that would help take care of the tuition problem to an extent. I haven't put too much though into it, but I think scholarships should go towards to most promising students that aren't stupid rich. This feels like they're giving them to Mexicans as more of a political "oh yes we did" than anything else.

I know I'd be pissed if I lost my college aid/spot to some illegal immigrant that was more qualified.

my big problem is the money is not being given to the people that have paid into the system at all. yes they are on a path to citizenship- but it doesnt mean they will become one.

i say make it a requirement- become a citizen. If they are such shining examples of undocumented aliens, then becoming a citizen shouldnt mater. It is not the fault of an undocumented child who crosses a border with their parents- they dont know the difference. Make them jump through the hoops- then let the dream happen once you put something in.

There had to be a conciliation somewhere.

I think about it like this.

We demonize illegal immigration, yet refuse to punish those who employ them for half of minimum wage or less.

So business owners who want to keep their profit margin where it is refuse to hire citizens and pay them the bare minimum our society demands.

If we are going to employ illegal immigrants to sustain our economy (which is exactly what they do) their kids need to go to daycare, aka. elementary school.

Kicking all those kids out of school means their parents cant work, means crops dont get harvested, means cars dont get washed, floors cleaned, etc.

Look at what happened to Alabama and Georgia recently after their illegal workers stopped showing up on account of the new laws.

Yes and all that xenophobic racism you encounter walking down the street is free too.

You'd have so much fun with your job options, picking tomatos, washing cars, roofing.

All for less than minimum wage! Yes they have it so cushy.

Wait maybe you could try and live in Greece as an illegal immigrant! They'd be happy to have you and you wouldnt even stick out like a sore thumb on account of your skin color.

Stop feeling sorry for people. Everyone goes through racism, and btw, that statement is nonsense. I live in california, and my entire youth consisted of being called every racial slur for whites in the book. Guess who said them nearly daily? Mexicans.

By the time you're through with how much this government takes, you practically have tomato money. Its retarded in california as is.
