About. Fucking. Time.

I'm not even a fan of Apple, but for fuck's sake. You act like he raped your mother or something.

A brilliant guy who had a vision and made it work.

RIP.

I figured he knew it was soon when he reluctantly let go of the wheel just over a month ago.

It seems like that incredible halo-like campus he proposed several months ago might be an additional legacy (the Jobs Campus, etc) or quickly brushed under the rug. I really hope they build it, seems fascinating on a lot of levels that go beyond Apple (urban planning, architecture, etc).

About. Fucking. Time.

 Did he steal your light saber or something?

Sad day and some douche attitudes in here. It's death. Dude did more for the world than anyone here.

LOL

Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

Did more for the world than anyone?

Big deal he put out a bunch of products that are not essential to life. LMFAO

Wow, I kinda knew this day was coming. Just figured there'd be more lead up to it.

True company man to the end...needed to protect the stock prices from plummeting with every bit of bad news.

If investors knew he was about to kick off, plenty of them would be hitting the "sell all" button because they think Apple cannot function anywhere near as effectively without Jobs as they could with him.

things like the first commercially viable gui? he helped make computers a popular mainstream thing. where would we be without him technologically?

hell windows has been trying to come close to osx with each passing release.

he has done tons for the world. not to mention his philantropical endevors.

i hate this. its a sad thing when someone dies. especially so young. i knew this would devolve into a flamewar on this board.

While you're right with what you said, you didn't quote him accurately and I'd have to agree with NGT --unless someone here has become a billionaire without telling the rest of us.

Reading is fundamental.

While I'm guessing it's not what you intended, it's sad that many will base a person's contribution to the world on their bank account balance.

Also to be fair, yes he was innovative, and yes his products were well regarded, it's definitely a loss. But like I always said to people, it was never a question of if he would die, but a question of when he would since he looked progressively worse the past year. It's not like we were talking about a healthy guy who suddenly died out of nowhere. His resignation pretty much spelled it out. He'll be missed.

Technology progresses, with or without Steve Jobs things would have advanced.

I actually admired the guy from a business perspective, but I don't own a single Apple product. I've used them at work, but never had any desire to buy one.

My life is not going to be any different tomorrow because he is dead. Like I said, a shame he is dead, but he had no impact on my life.

The "did more for the world than anyone here" is quite clear.

I measure what people do on a different level than you do clearly.

Being a billionaire doesn't make you a good person.

And before you claim the charity donation thing...

Simple way I put it to people is that it's a hell of a lot easier to be charitable when it doesn't make a dent in your bank account.

If only surgery had the tactile precision of the iPhone's retina display, he'd still be alive.

And now that the inappropriate joke has been made, I have to say that this is a sad day for technology, Jobs has fucking dominated technology design for the past decade and that will be his legacy, one that anyone would be proud to have. But this is also a blessing in disguise. I really don't believe that Jobs/Apple was the only one with innovative ideas for technology, they just had the best mix of marketing these new ideas and catching people's attention. Hopefully this leads the way to a new group (I don't want to see another one source of updates again, good luck trying to get a NON-iPod MP3 player nowadays) of tech innovators getting their foot in the dorr

Amazing what taking out one word can do to a sentence, lol.

Maybe not "Anyone", but I would guess "Anyone Here".

Got reading problems? Bet there's an app for that, lol.

Edit: Also, I said what he "did", not what he's "earned".

Are you implying (your post clearly is) that being a billionaire is doing more for the world than anyone here?

not to mention his philantropical endevors.

wikipedia doesn't have anything on him about philanthropy.

edit: I don't even own an iPod ffs, BUT...without Steve Jobs, Pixar would not exist. Period. So, thanks Steve.

Well Steve Jobs was kinda a douche attitude too.

Regardless I feel for him and his family.
