Don't really care for gaming today but Rage looks like a game I would play if I could. Looks pretty good. Love the ending of the trailer too. Intriguing. Looks like a good old fashioned Doom-esque shooter with some diversity thrown in, like the driving bits. Anyone excited for Rage?

Very Doom-meets-Borderlands. I'd give it a whirl.

I really hope this comes out on 360. I loved the Iphone on rails game they released as a promo for this.

The end of the trailer showed both PS3 and Xbox 360.

I've been waiting for this for some time. It's been in development awhile.

Graphically the game looks amazing. The gunplay looks solid and the racing and car combat look fun.

It Borderlands was lacking in one area it was the subpar vehicle mechanics, especially the vehicle combat.

This is a game I want to play.

Realistically though, isn't Apophis only like 250m across? Hardly enough to plunge the world into an apocalypse really.

Anyway, day one purchase for me on the PC.

Loopz already said it all, Doom-meets-Borderlands. This is what Borderlands should've looked like before Gearbox did an art change at the last moment. Rage is looking great, my only concern is multiplayer. Will there be any? Co-op, three-player or four player?

There's got to be multi, it being a huge title and all. Plus, in the current market, even if your game is phenomenal as a single player experience, people just expect it. Doesn't mean it'll be good though (just the MP I mean).

But I don't know... the game looks phenominal thus far. I just hope it plays well. Doom 3 was atmospheric, but pretty forgettable in the gameplay department.

I think the direction Borderlands went with graphically really suited the humor. It helped give the game its own unique style and flare.

Leave the hyper-real stuff to ID.

:snack:

Will this have co-op? I like to shoot people with my friends.

The more I hear about this game, the more I really want to play it. I haven't loved every game id Software makes, but they do make some pretty good ones that set the bar on more than one occasion. I mean, they pretty much invented the FPS genre with Wolfentstein 3D, Doom, and Quake. But they do make some pretty cool games worth checking out.

But yeah, this game looks like the perfect mix of Borderlands, Quake, Doom, and whatever other shit they mash into this game (I think racing is involved). Now that we finally get to see some sneak previews of the game (plus the i-phone game which I haven't played yet), it seems like the reason it's taking so long to make is because they're taking the time to make it right. It seems like id's put a lot of thought into how to make this a really fun game that people will want to keep playing, long after the one player quest is done.

Bump

Not so good news (as far as I care, anyway) about multiplayer and co-op. (Linky) 1up.com

Rage's single player, co-op and multiplayer all will be seperate modes. Not that big of a deal, but I was hoping for something more like Borderlands four player campaign co-op.

the market may be seriously over-saturated with FPSs but i'm honestly fine with it if we get the occasional gem like this game is shaping up to be

i too was hoping for a more Borderlands kind of co-op but at this point the game looks amazing regardless

I don't know. I must be missing something. All I see is yet another FPS set in a post apocalyptic setting.

Can't wait to play this and also see what the new Tech 5 engine is capable of. Carmack always raises the bar.

Regenerating health, ironsights, no more than 3 or 4 enemies at a time, nothing but hitscanners, weak-sounding guns... god damnit. Hopefully we'll see a Classic Doom Coop type mod, or at least a Nightmare! mode that throws interesting and numerous enemies everywhere.

The dynamic animation system would show through much more (and would make the weapons feel like... well, firearms) if they just exaggerated it a bit. As-is, enemy deaths are still very neato.

I used to think John Romero was full of shit, but I can definitely see that iD's design talent is long gone. Nothing but poor CoD clones, like the rest of the FPS developers. The technical side of things is impressive enough that I'll probably buy it, though.

It was a smart move for Zenimax to aquire id. I only wish Elder Scrolls Skyrim was using Camack's id tech 5 engine and not Bethesda's new Creation engine. I'm gonna grab Rage mainly to play around with that new graphics engine. Seamless 60fps indoor and outdoor with all that detail really is impressive. I'm sure there will be alot of complaining about a clunky 30fps Skyrim when another game out of the same studio is rendering just as far with as much detail at double the framerate.

This thing is going to be ~22GB ripped to the 360's HDD. That's pretty beastly. It must span 3 discs.
