No, after watching again the original is much better. Still awesome for a game trailer. Hell, it's awesome if it were a movie.
That trailer was AMAZING. FUCKING AMAZING. And yes, I know Mad World gets used a lot, but I think it fit very well. The first was great, but the Mad World thing just gets me emotional for some stupid reason.
Announce trailer.
This is a fucking OUTSTANDING trailer.
I don't know what the game's going to play like, but this trailer absolutely captures the essence of zombie post apocalyptic fiction.
ANOTHER Zombie game........

This is the best trailer!

Why? Who assassinates zombies?

Remind me again why everyone is so hot and heavy for this game? Ohhh wow, another FPS style game with zombies. Yippee skippee. First and foremost, I'm so sick of zombie themed games. If you’re desperate for a hot theme to base your game on, look no further than zombies. It’s slowly becoming the gaming de facto. It’s almost a surprise when a game either doesn’t have zombies, or at least has zombie themed DLC. Just get it over with and release a 3-D zombie game. Kill two fads with one stone.
Now can we back the hype train up and look at the most important factor no one, besides a few folks, has really focused on: the developer. Dead Island is developed by Techland. Techland? Seriously, this is the game company who will usher in a new era of orgasmic gaming? Let's take a quick look at Techland's illustrious resume of games:
The only thing worth half a damn is the Call of Juarez series. Even that is a mediocre romp through FPSville lost in the shuffle of much better FPS titles. The rest is utter drivel or yet more mediocrity. I can hear it now, "What, the developers of Pet Racer are making a zombie themed FPS! Hot diggity dog, count me in!"
So this is the developer who's garnered all this hype and praise? Am I missing something? Oh right, it's a zombie game and it's "open world" so the hype train has come into the station ready for the gaming elite to board.
Well choo choo my friends. I for one couldn't care less about this title. In a day in age when venerable developers such as Treasure and Platinum Games have amazing games glossed over by the general public, such as Sin & Punishment: Star Successor and Vanquish respectively, it marginally pisses me off to see this no name mediocre developer get the attention and praise for a tired worn out concept.
The lowest common denominator wins again.
For some reason this post sounded like a Matt Foley speech to me. Musta been the "Well choo choo my friends" bit. Maybe Techlands offices are in a van down by the river.
Well choo choo my friends.
That comment had (and still has) me rollin'. Techland's track record is not that great, I can't argue against that. But I feel as though the parts are there for something potentially special. Perhaps not original, but entertaining none the less.
Edit: I found a video of straight up gameplay; no voiceover, no interview or other effects.
Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I was tense as I watched that video. This isn't L4D, where you had unlimited dual pistol ammo to handle a horde of zombies. Dead Island gives me the feeling of, "if I turn around the wrong corner...(there's half a dozen zombies) I can kiss my ass goodbye."
Really adds to the atmosphere of dread. And the health bar meters floating over the zombies' heads just makes everything 10 times creepier.Nothing immerses you into the feeling of actually being trapped on an island full of zombies like having experience point numbers pop out of enemies every time you hit them.Really adds to the atmosphere of dread. And the health bar meters floating over the zombies' heads just makes everything 10 times creepier.
Right?
