Apparently 13 has been cracked and released for a long time now. Just wondered what peoples impressions where who've played it.

Deuce has played it, but since he's done* posting on this site, I guess you'll just have to wait.

You figured this out in all of 20 minutes?

Yes because its kof12 but with what matters.

More characters, a story, better presentation and continuing the story. KOF 12 gameplay was already great and this is just an expansion on that. Of course this in no way means the hope port will be good. What we want is netcode so.....

I grabbed the ROM that Kern linked to earlier. I've fired it up and it's OK. I've got tons of graphical glitches, but that could be my setup and not the ROM. I can't really be bothered to find out. The game looks nice, graphically, but meh. I'll give it a go when/if it gets a port to 360/PS3. I haven't been following Playmore's releases at all, so I have no idea when this is even supposed to come out, but I know I'll never see it in an arcade (especially with Arcade Infinity closed and gone). Not that I'd make the drive for this anyway...

This place has changed a lot. People use to get ran out of here by a mob carrying torches and pitchforks for talking about roms. Now they get links. Times are changing.

Nah, you're wrong. There were always people talking about ROMs. Most people's stances haven't changed. Those that supported them always supported them, and those who hated them have always stated that... Hell, I came here thanks to them, and bought way too many games due to them. Even the noble went ape shit to get their hands on Ghostlop's ROMs, or to buy a cart made from them. People discuss the X in 1 carts all the time, and we've had a lot of members that have openly supported emulation for years. Definitely not new at all to be talking about emulation here.

Taito Type X2 is pathetic hardware and runs on almost any modern pc some even with integrated graphics if your cpu is good enough

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Embedded
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400/Pentium 4 651/Celeron D 352 (up to latest Core 2 CPUs supported by the chipset)
Chipset: Intel Q965 + ICH8
RAM: DDR2 667/800MHz (512MB/1GB, up to 4GB)
GPU: PCI Express x16-based graphics. Support cards include ATI RADEON X1600Pro/X1300LE or nVIDIA GeForce 7900GS/7600GS/7300GS, up to latest graphic cards (Radeon HD 3800 or Geforce 9800 series)

If you've got an Ion based netbook it will run taito games fine.

So if those are to hard for you to understand

Any dual core cpu at 1.5gzh any single core at 3ghz
512MB of ram up to 4GB depending on the game. KOF only requires 1GB
A video card of any sort that still sold.

Also throwing this out here. This isnt emulation at all.
All new arcade hardware is just a PC in a box. You dont have to emulate anything hence why these run so perfect. The last system people used that was unique hardware was the Chihiro or the Atomiswave. The Atomiswave/Naomi platforms are emulated currently now and also run on most modern day netbooks.

The difference is that emulating Neo games now create no financial concern for SNK, while emulating games that haven't been released yet - KOF XIII or not - are certain to cause losses for the company.

Why someone would want to cheapen the experience of playing XIII for the first time on their fucking PC is beyond me, besides self-discipline. It's like choosing to watch a movie you've been waiting so long to see on your 13'' computer a few weeks before release that you'll inevitably watch in the theater anyway. Whatever.

i think the anti-emulation/rom talk went out the window when the neo officially died.

edit: posted this before i was sage's post:

i'm probably NEVER going to see a kofXIII machine.
ever.

they announced that it's gonna get ported. awesome. till then i'll play the rom. then buy the game.
cause i want to play it.

p.s. snk is dead.

True, laptops are like bad ass portables that can be hooked up to TVs and stereo systems. Me and my friends play 3rd Strike on my laptop all the time. Nothing like playing an arcade perfect 3rd Strike in a big ass TV. It's also cool not having to worry about a joystick for a specific console. My friends all bring their PS3 and 360 sticks and they all work on my laptop cuz it's all usb.
