This was at the small, but very cool console museum at E32011. I walked by thinking, awesome, the AES is here. Then I went in for a closer look. It is an extremely well done CMVS in a custom injection mold plastic case. Very clean ports, streamline internal power support. Its just a bit smaller than the AES and there isn't any logo, but it has a very "factory made" look and feel (really high quality plastic). A user here by the name of shadowkn55 made it.

Wow, cool.

I wonder if he has ever posted that effort here on the forums?

I would love to see some better, close up pics.

I saw that too, but I was more concerned with the space invaders that was there. :lolz:

I'm still exhausted from e3 but I have a couple of better pictures on my website. I'll have it updated within the next couple of days with pricing and preorder info.

shadowkn55, that looks a really nice bit of kit.
Shame it hasn't got a Memory Card slot, although priced will I will definitely be interested.

Very nice. Much better than that silly wooden CMVS thats been spammed all over pretty much every gaming related website, forum and blog.

Would like to see some better pictures around the backside.

Looking at the website, I see this pic:

It doesn't appear to have standard audio and video jacks for attaching to regular cables. Using a multipin connector for custom cables instead? Thats the approach I would use. I always thought it was kinda silly to have a big line of of RCA jacks (2 for audio, 1 for composite and 3 for component) and an svideo jack taking up space on these CMVS projects and the extra expense of them. A single 9 or 15 pin connector is sufficient to take care of all your audio and video needs...much like they have done on most game consoles for years.

Very cool looking project regardless.

I'll give you guys a little rundown on the cmvs while the website admin sets up the preorder page.

It'll have two tiered pricing. The complete units will be $499 and a DIY kit at $299. The complete units will be fully playable out of the box and are equipped with the latest unibios. The DIY kits require an MV-1C but feature a solderless design. A little bit of soldering is required if you want stereo.

All units come with composite, s-video, component, and rgb as standard. They'll come bundled with composite/s-video cables. Component and RGB scart cables are sold separately.

EDIT: The a/v out is done through a single DIN9. I wanted to have the back panel as clean as possible and at the same time make the DIY kits easy to assemble.

Yes, very cool but I can't help thinking that the lack of a reset button is a major design flaw. Probably you weren't aware that the MV1C (like any MVS board) does have reset button support. Sure, people could always make a hole in the case and add one themselves but since the case is custom molded it could easily have been done the right way, i.e. with a nice recessed area around the button, which could have been one of those Seimitsu skeleton buttons that can be illuminated so that you would have a glowing reset button and no need for that LED on the right which is quite ugly.

I was considering adding a reset switch when I designed the case. I read through the 1C manual and scoured the board for markings but I didn't see anything that was labeled as a reset switch like on the 4-slot.

MKL, I found your post about the reset circuit support on the other boards. It's still not too late to add a reset to the case and have it properly molded. If I can find the right illuminated button, I'll definitely replace the led with a reset button.

I agree, beautifully done but the face of the console has no character. It needs something on it.

IMO, the only thing lacking is a logo on the case. No reset button doesn't bother me at all but if its easy to do, why not. And I totally agree this looks better than the walnut cmvs and much better pricing.

I'll have the top silkscreened with some graphics before it ships. I'm still working on what to put exactly. Units should be shipping in mid-late July.

Seimitsu makes several buttons that are completely clear/translucent (PS-14-D-N-K, PS-14-K, PS-14-K-N) or with a clear plunger (PS-14-D-N, PS-14-G-N):

They're very easy to illuminate with LEDs (stick modders do that all the time). The question is whether there is enough clearance in your case (the switch tabs don't count as they can be bent).

Personally I think a 24mm PS-14-D-N with black rim and clear plunger would look best:

Keep it simple.. get it wrong and it will make the unit look very cheap.
As for the reset button, not bothered. Shame there is no MV-IC clone available (yet), could have been a good addition.

Do you have any idea about shipping costs... especially to the UK? Or is worldwide shipping included.

Impressive! Looks very clean cut. If I wasn't completely obssessed with cabs at the moment I'd look at grabbing. Good luck with sales :)
