Robert Horry is better than Michael Jordan. After all, Horry has seven rings. Steve Kerr's five rings also puts him right there in terms of consideration for the Hall of Fame.

If you were going to build a team around either Kobe or Lebron, would you seriously pick Lebron? It didn't work for the Cavs.

If Miami wins, it will be Pat Riley's team that won. Not Lebron's. Definitely not Spolstra's. And it's not Wade's either. It's Pat Riley's. He made it happen.

What do Juwan Howard, Ilgauskas, Mike Miller, Bibby, Cardinal, Brendan Haywood, deshaun Stevenson, and Caron Butler all have in common?

I watched Jordan play during the era with Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Barkley, Ewing, Olajuwan, Bird, Johnson, Kareem, Isiah and on and on and on and on.

Watched him play every single year.

And every single year, the 'pundits' you love citing said 'this guy's a better defender than Michael' or 'this guy's a better passer than Michael' or 'this guy plays better without the ball than Michael.'

Michael didn't even win MVP every year he was in the league, so even on a year by year basis, people thought there were guys that meant more to their team than Michael meant to his.

But we remember Michael as being the greatest ever.

Football comparison: Payton had to win one before people stopped comparing hmi to Dan Marino, who was ever considered an underachiever becuase he never won the big game. I watched all of Marino's career, and I can guarantee you that no one considers him in the top five quarterbacks who ever lived.

If people want to compare Lebron to Michael, or even say he's better, then he needs to prove he has the intangibles that bring the package together. That is validated through championships. Period.

As for the hall of fame, that's a different discussion entirely. I thought we were talking about the best ever, not hall of fame consideration.

I would seriously pick LeBron.

Get him a Shaq in his prime (or Pau & Bynum) and some vets like Derek Fisher and Robert Horry, LeBron would be winnin' some championships as well.

On THAT count, I will agree with you.

I think Lebron is a smarter player to build around. He's hitting the clutch shots, he's making the big plays more often than or not, he's become the most important player on a team everyone once called 'Wade's team.' He's proven that he can be the centerpiece of any team.

The man's got speed, power, length, great feet, good shooting ability, hands, stamina....as a ball player, Lebron is the total package.

If Shaq wouldn't have gone to L.A., I wonder how Kobe's career would have gone, or what kind of player he would have evolved into. As much as I think Kobe is closer to M.J. in terms of overall accomplishments and legacy, he was the second option on the Lakers when Shaq was there. Kobe was able to grow into a leader and a dominator under those specific circumstances. But if the Lakers wouldn't have won anything with Shaq?

Can't say he WOULDN'T have won, but I personally have a hard time saying he would have turned into the player he is today. The playoffs evolve a player, and without Shaq, would they have even gone and competed for titles at that point in his career?

Based on all those factors, I just see Lebron as more 'legend ready' at this stage in his career than Kobe was at a similar point.

So I'd definitely build around Lebron first, purely from a natural talent standpoint.

Dominique Wilkins was the best player to never win a championship.

Hawks trading him for Manning is still the worst trade in NBA history. This wasn't a situation of "contract about up, we can't afford to keep him, so trade now" either. He wanted to stay in Atlanta and the team knew he'd take any contract that would allow him to fit into the team's budget.

The season we did that trade was also the year the Hawks looked the best ever. Most believe we'd of easily had the championship that season. Ever since that trade the franchise has been a joke.

Why the Mavs will win this:

They now have home court (that won't matter to either of these teams, actually).
Dallas shot like SHIT the first two games. There's no way in hell they're going to keep shooting like hell for the next x amount of games.
They have old men that don't get as nervous during the playoffs/finals.
One on one, you simply can't stop Dirk's shot. It's the second hardest to defend shot in NBA history.

Why the Heat will win:

Nobody can stop Lebron. Nobody.
They are a lot younger, and much more athletic.
They have two and a half super stars on their team, the Mavs have one and a third.
Dirk's hand is actually messing his play up.

I think the Mavs will win this. Well... I HOPE they will win this. We will see.

Weird fact I just read. Since going to the 2-3-2 playoff format, 11 times game 3 has been played with the series tied 1-1 in the finals.

All 11 times, the winner of game 3 won the series.

Nobody can stop Lebron.

Lebron can stop Lebron. He chokes, Heat lose.

On the real though, I cant pretend to be a fan of the NBA.

Sure, I was happy LeBron was in Cleveland, and i would have liked to see him win a championship.

But the way he left Cleveland is what pisses me off.

Sure, Gilbert didnt provide him with any solid foundation - and it made LeBron think it was all up to him - which it was in most cases.

So LeBron takes ESPN up on some stupid fucking special "LeBrons Decision" program.

Something no player in the history of sports has ever done.

Then to top it off, the Heat hold that bullshit show that "crowns" the three kings or whatever.

So...

70% of me wants to see him lose, just for the way he left his team like that and didnt even bother returning any calls from the Cavs brass.

30% of me wants him to win it so I can hear the Cleveland fans bitch and moan... its a sound that never gets old with any of their franchises.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think has the hardest shot to defend in NBA history?

I'm gonna go with Kareem's skyhook as the #1 most difficult shot to defend in NBA history.

The Heat got hosed by the refs throughout the entire game, but pulled out the tight win :vik:

Yeah, it's too bad the Mavs couldn't take advantage of that. To give up home court after the improbable game 2 win is an absolute waste of the advantage they earned. A waste.

Miami is too versatile. Only a major injury or the Heat's plane going down will change this outcome.

I hope I'm wrong and that the Mavs come back and kick those shitters to the curb.

I haven't watched the NBA lately because of how fixed the refereeing is. Sounds like this game reinforced that claim.

Heat 88 vs Mavs + refs 86. I think the Mavs need to play with 7 guys on the court.

I think what he's saying is that it doesn't matter. It's not called down the line and it's blatant as hell, regardless of which team is benefiting.

I really don't worry about it, because it tends to go back and forth in the course of a given game. And as the Heat proved tonight, the best players will find ways to rise above officiating called against them.
