none of the teachers at my school when i went had a rep for fucking the students. then again most, if not all were in their 50's and were ugly, fat, and really focused on the teaching. fuck my school for hiring respectable staff.

I believe it would be fair for the teacher to lose her job and for the state of Texas to permanently revoke her license to teach as she did commit a gross violation of what a teacher-student relationship should be. But I can't agree that what she did was criminal, certainly not a FELONY act.
@Segata - if she did coerce the boys in to having sex through blackmail by holding their grades hostage then there is certainly a legitimate criminal case to be made. But if this is a case of consenting adults having sex then there is no criminal act in my opinion.
The big argument going for the law being upheld is how we gauge the fiduciary duty of a teacher towards high school students, even if of age. That will probably be the main argument the defense would need to overcome.
I remember, at my HS, there was this history teacher that everyone knew would date students after they graduated --he had shifted to that angle because the administration had to apparently tell him to wait due to past instances

There's a lesson to take from all of this.
If you have sex with someone under 18 or you're doing a student....be sure to kill them and burn the remains as well as any evidence of you ever having sex with them.
That way if you get caught for murder, it'll be a much lighter sentence AND you stay off the sex offender registry so you can find work after you do your time.

I agree with this. They were all over 18 and consenting adults. There's no crime in that, but Texas has always been a little wonky about sex anything. Just look at the weird laws regarding sex toys.
Take away her jerb and be done with it, unless blackmail can be proved.

Basically bail means you can get out of jail while awaiting trial. You pay your bail, which is a promise that you will return to trial. If you go back you get your bail back. However, serious crimes often have very high bail amounts set... So when people like her get hit with a 125k bail, they almost undoubtedly aren't going to be able to cough up cash like that. Most people in this situation borrow from other family members/friends, sell any assets, and take out a loan against the value of their homes. If that doesn't work, then you go to a bail bondsman. This is probably what she did. You cough up a set amount like 10% or whatever. The bail bondsman will pay your bail, but whether you go back to court or not they get to keep that lump sum. If you don't go back to your trial and hide or leave the country... bail bondsmen are legally allowed to pursue you with almost impunity.
