Aren't they rebooting Batman again after this one and the working him into a JLA movie.
Yeah. Bale is leaving with Nolan as director. I think Nolan will continue to produce, but they'll reboot the series.

For me: Begins/Returns > '89 > Adam West/TDK > Batman & Robin >>>>>>>>> Forever.

Forever is the only one I really have a hard time sitting through, and I actually just watched the blu-ray two days ago. It was interesting listening to them talking about the production of the movie in the documentaries. Of all the things they did that made the movie horrible, none of them happened by unfortunate accident. They were all conscious decisions the movie makers thought people would think were improvements. Amazing. The level of delusion that went into the making of that movie at every turn on every level is fucking dumbfounding. Which, of course, only increased when they came back to make Batman & Robin.

Oh, so you don't like his movies but you'll hire him as your wedding planner, ok Bob, ok.

Should I pull a Spinmaster thread and start throwing a hissyfit about stuff being personal (for the record, I wasn't the person who posted those photos)? Haha, just kidding.

Seriously, though: just because they can light and dress a room doesn't automatically make them a wedding planner --and thusly just because a guy can put together flashy sets doesn't automatically make them a good director.

Just saw something neat on the Dark Knight special features about IMAX.

During the Dark Knight they said there were only 4 of these IMAX camera's in the world. During the chase scene, they smashed one. At $300,000 each this is a big deal.

I'm really curious to see if they're using these same exact 3 cameras, have new ones, or new systems. They made a big deal about the special rigs they had to build to make the as versatile as 35mm.... There is some seriously high tech stuff going on right now during shooting, pushing film to it's absolute breaking point.. It's all very exciting.

The big thing that prevents me from enjoying The Dark Knight is pretty much everything in that movie that involves Harvey Dent. It's just like, you know, everything. Everything with Harvey Dent in that movie is objectively awful.

I think DK and BB are the two best in the entire "series" and also the best super hero movies released. Very well done, and almost make the whole insane concept seem plausible.

For those saying they like the first one best.... uh, have you SEEN that thing lately? I couldn't watch the whole thing last time I tried to watch it. It's not nearly as good as I remember. I never understood how people liked Keaton as Batman. He's a nice guy, and he's a good actor.... but there's a part of me that just says "oh come on, how can you guys not beat the fuck out of Micheal Keaton?"

batman TAS>returns>89>BB>TDK

the animated series was in my opinion the best iteration of batman's story on the screen (barring the graphic novels) and it really told the story of batman as closely and best as it can be told. returns and the 89 batman movie were great in their own right, namely the portrayal of the penguin, and the joker. showing how joker went from a small time gangster to a disfigured nutcase is really what made the 89 movie great, and showing the beginning of cat woman, and the penguin was fantastic. being born into rich aristocracy, but unwanted, thrown away, and left for dead in the sewers of gotham. the man has a lot of hate, and danny de vito pulled it off well, probably one of his best roles. up with jack the bear.

the two newest ones were good i'll give them that. but i don't like the psychotic murderer joker. and i don't like the two face character lacking the involvement of "big, bad, harvey" and no rupert thorne with his finger on the pulse of harvey's political career really take away from the two face story. had they given batman not only the joker to deal with, but rupert thorne it would have been a better movie. hell in some iterations rupert thorne hired joe chill to kill bruce wayne's parents. making batman an impossibility without thorne. and according to some stories two face would be nonexistent were it not for thorne. he'd have just been harvey dent, DA, son of an abusive father, with a repressed angry side who would likely snap somewhere down the line, or go into therapy and be able to exorcise his demons on his own.

i think they had they included thorne these new batman movies would have benefited from the prospect of another bad guy in the story, and from showing a bit more of the depth behind two face. plus they could include some of the mob wars, political kick backs, and problems that plague gotham, not just comic book villains but the mafia, corrupt cops, and crooked politicians. also the heath ledger joker didn't work for me. i prefer the joker who will set up an entire elaborate scheme all to throw a pie in batman's face. i prefer the joker who covers gotham in laughing gas, for a laugh. that's my joker, the funny one.

Bales Batman voice.

I rest my case.

Exactly this. I think he still wants some kind of revenge for Newsies.
That to this.

I can't decide if he's trying to channel Val Kilmer and not getting it, or if he's trying to stick it to the audience for some kind of perceived karmic retribution.

Thorne and "Big Bad Harvey" are such late additions to the mythology that I certainly don't need them and didn't miss them. Englehart's run is well-regarded and one of the primary influences of TAS, but Thorne seems so interchangable to me. You practically could have called Falcone in Begins "Thorne" and been fine. Whatever. And in NO itterations of the Batman story did Thorne hire Chill. You're thinking about the original '89 screenplay maybe, that used Englehart characters Thorne and Silver St Cloud. And only in TAS did Thorne have anything to do with the creation of Two-Face.

And I flat out don't like "Big Bad Harvey". I think it cheapens the character when they try to add all these explanations for why he was so ready to go crazy. He was abused, he already had multiple personality disorder, blah blah blah... all unnecessary.

I happen to be the Sherlock of this partnership, friend.

Okay then. Do you haz what it takes to get to the bottom of a mystery surrounding giant explosions, a T-Rex, a giant squid, and your half-robot half-brother?

BB>TDK>Returns>'89>West>the rest

Tried rewatching Batman '89 and while it's still great it hasn't held up well, Nickleson always irked me as the Joker since he was basically was ripping off what's his name from the Adam West show

Cesar Romero. I guess I can see that a little bit in his laugh, but at least that made more sense than Tommy Lee fucking Jones ripping off Nicholson to play Two-Face.

After seeing Tom Hardy in Bronson, I really want to see how he handles Bane in this one. He can play psychotic very well.

TDK was mediocre. Not bad, just meh.

I actually enjoy this Batman movie best, even though it's animated.

Here's to hoping Bane breaks Wayne in half. I always liked realistic movies where the hero gets fucked over at the end.
