Being a fan of the whole "Knightfall" series of Batman comics, and with the rumours going-around that Christian Bale is hanging-up the cowl after this next movie, it might be kinda cool to have Bane effectively "win" this upcoming story. For the first time, it might be possible to continue the canon of a series of Batman movies while simultaneously changing the actor.Tim Grierson said:And he's also the man who famously turned Batman into a quadriplegic by breaking his back in a '90s issue. It's doubtful that will happen in "The Dark Knight Rises," but looking at this photo, you wouldn't put it past the dude.
Then again, 99% of people who see these Batman movies probably couldn't handle the sheer confusion of a "Batman" not being Bruce Wayne, anyway. Closed-minded bastards, I tell 'ya!
TDK was overrated.

I'm inclined to agree with you.
They can't handle any movie featuring the same main character that doesn't build upon or is a direct sequel to a previous film. Except maybe James Bond...only film I can think of.
I wouldn't mind watching any superhero flick that had no relation to any previous movies featuring that same character. Why not just do a bunch of one shot films, or alt-universe stories.
I guess it's all about the money at the end of the day and creating a franchise.
I still like Batman (1989) the best.![]()
Yup, me too.
Let me mess with things further and say, in my mind:
Batman > Dark Knight > Batman Returns > Batman Begins (yeah, I know I know) > Schumacher.

but honestly the bond films are hardly sequels. Mostly just alternative universes with the same character.

Nolan has chosen not to film in 3-D but, by focusing on improving image quality and scale using the IMAX format, hopes to push technological boundaries while nevertheless making the style of the film consistent with the previous two.[35] Nolan has had several meetings with IMAX Vice-President David Keighley to work on the logistics of projecting films in digital IMAX venues.[36] The Dark Knight Rises will feature more scenes shot in IMAX than The Dark Knight.[36] Cinematographer Wally Pfister had expressed interest in shooting the film entirely in IMAX,[37] but because of the considerable noise made by IMAX cameras, 70mm cameras may have to be used for shooting the film's dialogue scenes.[36]
