Personally, I like being able to chat on the PC. I'm not the type to buy those giant keyboard/controller monstrosities, so PC's the way to go for me. I haven't being paying much attention to PC gaming at all. Maybe that's cuz there's nothing to pay attention to though.

If PSO2 is on console then count me in on day one. Until then, back to PSP2.

Bump

The first teaser of gameplay footage (time index 1:30) was released over the weekend.

Looks rough, so rough that it appears to be a step back from PSP2 (imo).

Oh my fuck.

Yes, it looks a little rough, but it's an alpha build. A lot can and will change.

I am going to try and remain calm, and not get my hopes up too high.

i'd be totally jump-through-the-roof excited for this if PSU hadn't been the most disappointing gaming experience of my life

pfft, get over psu.

PSP2 should change your mind about that.

The only engine I liked was PSO. One thing I dislike about this build is those dumb psu/psp overdone special moves. That wore down on me fast. The original PSO games were and still are the best I've played.

PSO blue burst is the best SEGA game I've ever played ever. I loved the rhythm engine to attacking. I dislike the PSU additions.

Did you watch the vid? Doesn't really look like PSU at all.

It looks like PSO mixed with a bit of Monster Hunter, which would not be a bad thing at all.

yeah i saw it

but i also thought PSU looked amazing before i played it as well

and Sega as a company these days doesn't exactly instill the same level of faith as they used to

i want to be intensely excited about this but i'll stick with very cautious optimism at this point

This is the best gaming news I could have ever heard aside from a Shenmue 3 announcement.

I came into PSO a bit late and played it on the Xbox. I drooled over screens back in its Dreamcast days but I had broadband so I never bothered setting it up since it was a total pain with that. It was awesome on the Xbox though and I had so much fun, even more so due to its voice chat feature which was pretty rare back then.

It's crazy how simplistic yet addictive it was. Something about the atmosphere of the game just grabbed me and never let go. I'm not easily addicted to MMO's either, because I get bored of most of them quick.

I was more pumped up for Phantasy Star Universe than any game in recent memory but was so let down. I am glad SEGA seems to be acknowledging that PSU let everyone down by naming this Phantasy Star Online 2, which makes me pretty confident they will stick to the original formula that worked. Pumped.

The fact they are naming this Phantasy Star Online 2 gives me a ton of optimism because it's a sign that they know they need to pick up where they left off properly this time around. Even if they stuck exactly to the original formula and simply added new drops and locations I would be psyched. Here's hoping for great new innovative additions though.

Oh wow. You still have the basic setup of PSO but with sped up combat. I can see your basic three attack functions as well as your 10 hot keys. I very well may have to get this :buttrock:

I'm one of the very few that enjoyed Phantasy Star Universe. The screens look great. I may actually subscribe to this for a few months.

rough? that shit looks tight as hell.

I think it needs to take a step back from PSP2. While those are great games, there is almost zero variety in the classes. In the later PS games, there was no variety. Everyone could use everything.

They need to make the platforms cross compatible. I'm playing this on PC, but all my irl friends are console whores.

Hit it up again.

Here's an HD, translated version of the video released a few days ago.

One thing stands out the most, "randomized dungeons".

I am so there! ............................................. (still there!)

As of a couple of months ago- PSO is still going on 360 btw, which to me is amazing. Although it's mostly just those wierd gamer types who have their characters 'fall in love' with another character and get married and just sit in the lobby and hold hands and chat and stuff.

I never have understood what was up with that.

But PSO2? I can't wait, I guess 360 would be my preferred platform, but alls I really care about is being on the platform with the most players.

I was a bit of a PSO addict for about a year...

Sold Sold and Sold!! Looks sweet! Also hoping for a console version. If not, I'll still get the PC one.

I hope the next video will show off the magic users. I always play support classes so even though the game looks really nice, I could care less about the guns and giant tree sized weapons. I'd much rather roll another FOnewm and run support while throwing out giant screen clearing magic attacks. I still think it was the most fun I've had playing a game online. I will check it out when it hits the PC. It'll be nice to use voice chat.

Wow, this looks amazing. Was mildly into the first PSO but never got deep into it. The action seems very fast paced and quick. When does this come out?
