I think they should call it the UltraNES, if not the SuperWii.
Pack in a bitchin' Mario game.
Finally come up with their own subscription online gaming service, NintendoNet.

:-J

Just dreaming aloud.

UltraNes could work, Pack it with KI3 and I will invest in some Nintendo stock.

Gamers have been waiting years for Nintendo to finally release its Wii successor.

I love journalism.

The Wii isn't 5 years old yet gamers have been waiting for years.

Sort of like when instead of saying 25 years, they use the term "A quarter of a Century" to make it sound longer than it is.

I've been waiting for another kick ass Nintendo system since the SNES...

The N64, the GC, the Wii...all major disappointments in my book when compared to the amazing library of titles the SNES had...

N64 wasn't complete shit, but GC and Wii are both pretty lacking in my opinion. SNES dominated the early 90s though. I wish I had bought one of those instead of a Genesis.

Both GC and Wii kick the living shit out of N64. The only thing N64 had going for it is that you were younger when you played it.

The original xbox had more balls than the Wii, it had some 720p games and dolby digital plus a hard drive.
I think Wii was the only system that launched being weaker than a last gen system.
Nintendo Poo(Wii number2) may start to push 720p but a few game will still run in 480i.

I hope the shovel ware phase will be put to death I don’t need cheap cash ins and main stream killing my fav hobby.
Sounds like the same reason for the video game crash in the 80s.
The only difference Nintendo has very good 1st party games. As always the only real reason to get Nintendo system.

If Nintendo mixes the best of all the motion controls it could be cool,
A kinect like device sampling at 60-120fps with an improved wii/move controller.
I still think some games will always need something you hold just for the feel or to have more precise controls.

Now they say it won't have 3d that seems weak from the start. 3d should be an option for any true next gen system.
Sorry people it's here to stay just like HD tv caught on.
Most people with 2 good eyes love the effect when done right. Most headaches are from poor design on the hardware and media side.

I bought the 3ds but it has one fail you move a lot while playing a portable. This kills the effect a lot or even screws up game play. Try play pilot wings resort while seeing double.....

Gaming on a 3d tv with fixed glass is much better, yes you have to wear something but it's not bad especially if it’s a passive 3d
Tv like LG or Vizio. Those glasses are so light. You can move your head all around with no issues.
Hell they could probably make polarized contact lenses.

You are drunk.

Wow, you named 3 out of the 4 good games, just like that. You were so close.

All done better on the Gamecube on top of that. GC was a great system.

Anyway. I really don't want the current hardware from any company to be phased out on the five year cycle. Theres no reason to at this point.

- I thought the Wii started well, but didn't realize its full potential

- I think the Wii is still a major improvement over the N64 and GC, especially when it comes to 3rd party

- I don't know if it means these games sold poorly, but almost ALL 3rd party Wii games drop to below $20 few months after release.

- I didn't mind wiimote controls, as long as they were not poorly implemented. In fact, I liked using the wiimote better in games like Mad World, Okami and RE4.

- Lack of HD is a major disappointment. I surely hope the next console has B/C

- I wonder what the next console's disc format is gonna be

Call me skeptical, but I think Nintendo will have a tough time adjusting to HD gaming. The Wii was a small jump from the GC.
If the rumors are true, then they'll be making a huge leap in developing. Their games will take more time to make (and $).
They will have to rely on 3rd party support. But knowing their history, I'm sure they will ignore that.
Right now, I'm not hyped at all.

Theyre literally sitting on billions of dollars, they can afford it.

The only reason I got the N64 was for Ogre Battle 64. None of that 3D stuff really float my boat, and a good number of my friends got motion sickness when we were playing Super Mario 64. Blasted camera was out of control.

Haven't bought any other Nintendo consoles or handheld after that. I'm still open minded about them though. Give me a few titles that I would want to play and I'm sold on the system.

I haven't purchased a Wii yet and have been holding out for either the $150 pricepoint or Wii HD. I own several games for the Wii, yet I've never played them (Punch Out, Muramasa, Kirby Yarn, Warioland Shake It, etc). I'm really hoping it's the Wii HD and not just a price cut/bundle announcement.

People wondered how many major console manufacturers the game industry could handle. I think the question today is, has one of those manufacturers found a way to handle two consoles for two independent markets? Custom is no law restricting each company to output one console at a time. With new business models emerging, it's completely possible.

Emm, you bought Wii games without owning a system? :conf:
I quite like the Wii and the controller, easier for younger ones to get to grips with( with 2 kids it helps :D)

Where the hell is my Pokemon MMO? And how about more traditional arcade style games for the download service? After King of Kong people are going nuts for classic arcade games, I would love to see Nintendo make some more games like they used to in the 80's, hard games but they kept you coming back for more. Why they haven't followed Namco in making a Donkey Kong Championship Edition game is beyond me. Hopefully they will pull their heads out of their asses and go back to their gaming roots and take chances on new franchises.

I have to agree with this. I am probably one of very few in this group, but I like the older style games. While I enjoy some new ones, I don't have the time or patience anymore to go through a 20 hour learning curve. Wii's Punch Out I thought was done very well, and the controls were still simple. Updated graphics are alwasy nice, but look at the Wii, the simple sports game it came with still keeps people smiling and having fun...
