What model do you own?

Even though the battery on the phone is not that good - I do notice a significant difference in the 8GB and 16GB - the 16GB being the better of the two.

Its pretty bad even with simple games but using 3G internet will kill the battery in 3-4 hours. EDGE isn't much better.

My battery was a fucking champ on my old 32gb 3gs. Considering I used it to surf the internet, watch videos, play games, make calls/texts, AND kept the music player going for 5-6 hours a day, the fact that I only had to charge it once a day was mind-blowing. I found the main battery culprit was the display brightness, so I always kept that all the way down.

They can't get that battery thing figured out yet? I have a Dell laptop it lasts me 4.5 hours on Video and web surfing, flash, no matter what. Cheapo lap top too.

Can you change the battery in the battery in the I-Phone for a bigger one?

Yes, it's amazing that a device using a battery bigger than most cell phones lasts longer than one the size of a saltine cracker.

I was referring to the IPAD, but thanks for playing. Noboday answered my question if the battery is upgradable in the IPHONE. Also My Dell has much more to power including a fan, a 500gig hard drive, DVD drive, external mouse, and a 17 inch LED screen, no comparison really

The 4 is pretty shitty on battery. Talk Time/GPS and brightness really do it in.

I had to resort to getting an iTrip this week so I could charge in my car or talk and not destroy it.

I've beaten up my battery pretty good since I got it, so I'm not terribly surprised. Just didn't think it would hit the shitter this fast. Apple has not been great with batteries over the last decade, so I'm not surprised.

Whoa calm down there tiger. I asked if the I-Phone had an upgradable battery, which still hasn't been answered yet to my knowledge. My point being my Cheapo Dell has a killer battery life and runs everything and multitasks (Flash Included) and still lasts 4.5 hours. if I make it really dim and surf quietly it lasts over 6. I use it in the air on trips to play mame stuff.

Battery life was a casualty of environmentalism.

They could make them more efficient, but the old methods for doing so made them hazardous and new models prohibited under current regulation.

It's similar to the cause and effect we see with the re-appearance of bedbugs. The stuff that effectively killed them had a nasty habit of poisoning everything else.

iPhone = small device, small battery.
Dell laptop = large device, possibly bigger battery. Oh and its a laptop, not a phone, this might be a factor I dunno.

Hurr durr my Asus EEE can surf the internet for 5-6 hours, I fucking wonder why?

You definitely missed the point, but still went off on a rant. The point is the Iphone has terrible battery life, particularly the Iphone 4 which is inexcusable. I was comparing my Dell to the Ipad which seems to have double my Dell but I am not sure if the Ipad will replace the lap top entirely.

Someone before was discuss the ipad, I asked about the iphone and it's battery and if it is upgradable, must have been about 5 times by now. I am assuming it is not and therefore a load of crap. The reason I have mentioned my dell as it has an upgraded battery which is why it lasts so long. The Ipad I see lasts 10 hours which is amazing, the Iphone 4 is extremely poor and from what I gather not upgradable until the Iphone 5.
