Would just like to point out that Egypt, Libya, Tunisia etc. are in Africa not the Middle East.

Most people consider Northern Africa to be part of the middle east.

Anyways, the phrase Middle East is ambiguous and anachronistic.

for the record, Africa is a continent and the middle east is a region that expands into the African continent across the northern portion. People with beards should know this.

As I understand it it is a traditional sign of great disrespect in the Middle East to uh throw your shoe at people or hit someone with your shoe.

Do you not recall in 2003 when that one statue of Saddam in Baghdad was torn down and dragged through the street - there were dozens of Iraqis running up to the statue and beating the image of Saddam with their shoes.

Remember when that guy threw a shoe at George Bush? Same thing and I'm sure this is the same thing too.

You'd be surprised how effective subsidized prices, a pervasive secret service and a relatively lighter touch than your father will go in Syria. That, and Bashar has Shania Twain on his iPod.

That is why most of the time, people use the phrase "Sub Sahara Africa".
Because The desert is culturally more aligned with the middle east.

Fuck it, Why not just call it Mediterranean?
Note: I do consider Lebanon to be a Mediterranean Country

But it's like Mexico.... Mexico isn't part of South or Central America... But it is part of Latin America.
