Announce trailer.

This is a fucking OUTSTANDING trailer.

I don't know what the game's going to play like, but this trailer absolutely captures the essence of zombie post apocalyptic fiction.

That is a really great trailer. Great trailer concept. Still not a fast zombie fan, generally, but I'll check the game out.

I prefer walkers to sprinters as well. But I enjoy zombie fiction, at the end of the day, because of how it deconstructs human civilization and all the literary allegories more than because of the monsters the people are fighting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I just deal with it when there are fast zombies:)

It has some interesting features, will be interesting to see how they come together. Guns/ammo will be limited so melee will be the main focus. There will be leveling and skill trees. Hopefully it will have a solid single player component unlike Left For Dead 1.

If this is the same game I'm thinking of, it was first announced like four years ago. I figured it was canceled.

Cool trailer but I'll be more interested to see some actual gameplay.

I'm still wanting a more "serious" Zombie game for lack of a better term.

Prefer the trailer's original music. Helps to give the footage its own identity, rather than using a song that's been beaten to death.

Mad World is a great song, but it's attached to too many other things at this point and its use as a mood piece instantly feels derivative and distracts me from what's actually going on in the footage.

From the look of the trailer it definitely has a more serious tone than previous zombie games. And I'd wager its focus is on single player. L4D was completely designed around the idea of playing it with three other people. This certainly doesn't look like that if the trailer is any indication.

Curious to see how it turns out.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just read the article over at IGN. Looks like 4-player drop in/out co-op is what it's designed for. Story could still be more fleshed out, but it's probably going to be similar to L4D in that respect. Not a big deal to me personally as I'm more concerned about gameplay than I am story in my games.

I think a more serious story would suffer in a drop in/drop out 4 player co-op game, to be honest. People play co-op games, generally, to frag and have fun, not to get involved in a deep and depressing narrative about the end of the world.

I seriously hope the game has a stronger single player element, heavy on mood and dystopian themes. It's been a long time since we've had a zombie game like that. Even Resident Evil has evolved into something different, more social and action based. If I want light hearted/action packed zombie killing action, I have the L4D games and RE 5. I really hope Dead Island tries to be different in terms of its atmosphere and level design.

Never understood why the Jules cover gets love. Original is so much better.

rather than using a song that's been beaten to death.

...and not just beaten to death, but beaten to death decades ago... I'd be fine with no one using that song for anything or covering it ever again.

Well, at least you were smart enough not to put 'game' before trailer.

So I'll let it be. This time.

Anyways,

Watched the "Mad World" version last night.

Kinda made me sad.

Poor little girl.

This trailer is fantastically done. The tone and atmosphere are exactly what I think of when I think of a realistic zombie apocalypse: Pure hopelessness and despair.

If only more zombie games were like Dead Island (or at least its trailer).

Reminds me of LOST music. Right when Jack saw the plane fly overhead and closed his eyes.

They could've tightened the amount of slo-mo rewind a bit --once they got back into the hotel room it started to drag a tad. Still, quite good for a video game trailer.

Great trailer but I only wish the game would match it. I'd love to see a Walking Dead or new Resident Evil game that really tapped into the feel of trying to survive on limited ammo/rations without the heavy puzzle element. Just make it a Heavy Rain style story progression.

That trailer was AMAZING. FUCKING AMAZING. And yes, I know Mad World gets used a lot, but I think it fit very well. The first was great, but the Mad World thing just gets me emotional for some stupid reason.
