What is that game where you play a little robot in a platformer, that has to be the prettiest game. That or Mega Man.

and I never even took it out of the box.

Anyway uh....I was gonna say Zen: the intergalactic ninja, but it actually looks like crap after seeing it again.

Was Rescue Rangers better than Rescue Rangers 2?

Duck Tales 2 was not as awesome as 1.

What's the Mattel version of the NES as mentioned on the box? Strange...

Jacked strait from Wikipedia:
When the NES was first released in those countries, it was distributed by Mattel and Nintendo decided to use a lockout chip specific to those countries, different from the chip used in other European countries. When Nintendo took over European distribution in 1990, they produced consoles that were then labeled "NES Version", therefore the only differences between the two are the text on the front flap.

Castlevania III is such a mess. Color pallette all over the place, randomly it seems. Just looks like a hodgepodge of shit everywhere.

Not to say it's ugly. It's an uglypretty game.

I didn't get a chance to link Youtube in my previous post, so here are a few of the games I mentioned earlier:

^ I never played Rescue Rangers, but that was from an era where you just knew you were buying quality entertainment when the logo was Capcom, Konami, or Nintendo. Ditto Square in the SNES era, really, among others. That same degree of quality control is tossed all out of whack these days.

On-topic, I'm going to toss a vote out for the infamous Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; specifically, the stages with Dr. Jekyll. I always thought those stages looked outstanding...clean, crisp, and picturesque. King's Quest V is another overlooked choice for different points of view (from a variety standpoint alone I'd say it takes it), although it obviously can't compete with the PC version. Good effort regardless.

Dragon Spirit - The New Legend. I seriously thought that the NES version was actually BETTER than the Turbografx-16 version.

This vid ruined my childhood. I had the hardest time beating this game back in the day, then I see these guys float through half the freaking levels on the balloons and I'm like WTF? How come I didn't think of that...

And they beat the fucking thing in just over 9 minutes!?!?!

Castlevania III was the game that amazed me for NES standards. Batman Return of the Joker could pass for a Genny game as well.

I don't think you get that balloon floating shit if you're playing single player. I thought if you died in 1P mode, you start over from the beginning of the current section.

Maybe that's why I wasn't able to take advantage of that. It's been so long since I've played this game that I don't remember much about it.

Life Force

Agreed.. the Level one boss and the Pyramid level blew my mind when I was a kid, still looks dope today.

And as mentioned above.. Crisis Force was dope, too. It uses effects that you don't usually see in a NES game.
