Aside from abusive parents, I can't see where taking a photo of your kids crying beneficial to the situation while selling something of theirs. I'm all for disciplining children. But if this is real, there's no reason to humiliate the kids online other than to stroke some internet ego.

Kids are byproducts of proper parenting and moral decisions. There is nothing to be gained from this incident that would teach them a lesson about their mistakes. Stating to the public that you're also taking their savings isn't going to help attract prospective buyers of the toys (most likely parents or grandparents).

This has got to be fake.

i don't agree with the way hes gone about it, but they should be told its wrong what they did, and have them took off them for a couple of days at least.

i would certainly never take they're pocket money to pay for a new bath or take away other toys that were nothing to do with what happened.

they would have got a good telling off though.

This is my problem with the whole thing. Why have the kids friends' laughing at them for something that's a normal part of child development?

This is basically the mordern-day equivalent of punishing your son by making him sit out on the front porch in a dress.

Fucked up in the head, this dad needs to grow up himself.

But of course, it's probably just another one of 10 billion quadrillion gazillion internet scams to try and squeeze a few more pennies from an auction.

I still think its funny that the Westapo thinks we should all shut up and have kids, then come back with the same opinion.

Fake or not, that's pretty funny. The crying kids in the auction picture is priceless!

LOL the look on the children faces!

Fucking priceless!

I still think its funny that the Westapo thinks we should all shut up and have kids, then come back with the same opinion.

This kind of thinking isn't much better than:

"If you can't build a car/write a novel/direct a movie/program a game, your critiques of any of the aforementioned things are completely invalid."

That said, the goal of punishment is to teach the offender that their crummy actions will have equally crummy consequences. I still think the whole auction thing is contrived, though: someone's lame attempt at up-selling a bunch of garbage using narrative appeal.

This is a message board that is geared towards people that like video games.

I think it's funny when anybody tries to speak on something they have no experience in. Until you've spent years with kids controlling your life, eating your dreams, and ruining almost everything they touch of yours, then, yeah, I'll question whether or not you'd have the same opinion.

Revenge is the best parenting technique apparently.

I wonder how much he could make putting them up for adoption. They're a little old now, so some of their potential-value is gone, but still. Probably worth more than those Beyblades. It's a one-and-done solution as well.

This thread is almost a funhouse mirror of the kind of responses I WOULD HAVE thought something like this would have generated.

I think this is pretty fucked up. And honestly, I don't think you have to be a parent to say so. Were you a kid once? If you were, you know what your 'rents did right and whatever they may have done that was fucked up.

I once took apart our family's Atari clone system (believe it was a Gemini), and my Mom freaked when she saw it in pieces, upon which I told her I could easily put it back together. I did, it still worked, and then she told me she thought it was cool that I was so curious about how it worked. I mean, for Christ's sake, these were kids playing with toys, which is really about the most innocent of possible circumstances for something like this to happen.

Again, yeah, I'm not a parent...but I still think that kind of discipline is a bad idea. Make them mow the lawn until they earn enough to repair/replace the tub...but this kind of humiliation doesn't teach them a lesson...I think it will make them vengeful.

I still vote a brilliant fake. There's no way he'd get $300+ out of 8 beyblades any other way. Hell, by the time the auction's over in 7 days, he can probably do a small remodel of the entire bathroom.

Im gonna stay out of the parenting aspect of it I'd just like to point out that tubs start out at about $100, $500 msrp will just about get you a top of the line designer "Kohler" or such. For a little bit more chances are you can get new a jacuzzi tub if you go bargain shopping. The kids need to make sure dad gets three bids and isnt upgrading the tub. Id be willing to guess that $100 tub is nicer than the stock ones most home builders just throw in a bathroom. The little bit I see of the house it could be custom built but still...

Totally different. A better comparison would be if someone had never spent any time watching movies, their critiques of movies would be completely invalid. Which would be true.

I have enough friends with kids to know that life changes so drastically and so fundamentally once someone has kids that it is ignorant and hubristic to imagine that I or anyone without kids would have the first clue what actual day to day life as a parent would be like. People like to remember childhood from their own perspective then project themselves into the parents' place and think that's it, and it's a lot more than that.

It is at 2,200 now. You can't leave feedback anymore if you dont pay correct?

Edit: 14,000 now, can't keep up anymore.

Always happens on these type of auctions, it'll get upbid with a bunch of fakes. It'll either end up getting yanked or the price will get cleared back down. Either way, it's still entertaining.

So, which one of you made the million-dollar-bid? And doesn't ebay check your bank account if you bid above a certain amount?

Ahaha, it got taken down. Not much of a surprise really I guess. The picture of those kids was classic though.
