Sadly, worse atrocities have been committed with MAME cabs. Definitely the worse I have seen in regards to a candy cab though.

Yeah it belongs to him, but there's a limited number of them, there will never be any more produced, and that limited finite number is now minus one for no good goddammed reason.
Becides, no one needs a cab to fucking play MAME. It would be elitist to say that the only way to play arcade games is on the actual goddammed hardware, but if it's MAME you can play in bed or on the shitter or on the bus on a laptop (or smartphone).
There is no need to destroy an ACTUAL FUCKING ARCADE CABINET to pretend to play arcade games with an emulator, but then again, he apparently thinks Killer Instinct is god's gift to fighting games...

I have a JPAC and it's terrible. I don't know if it's bootleg or defective or what, but it doesn't appear to be NKRO - I can easily jam up the keyboard encoder with just plain 3-button 2-player JAMMA games.

Your Honda Civic analogy would work if we were talking about a dynamo cab. Craigslist is littered with cheap cabinets that can be used for MAME projects, why chop up a good candy cab. Mass produced yes, but still rather rare to find locally in many locations, hence people spending a nice sum to have them shipped.

LOL, arcade operators have done worse to far better and far more rare cabinets than this. Eric's right, you guys are going crazy over nothing. There are way better cabinets out there. I had a Xybot cabinet that an op turned into a Neo. Poor thing. Cool cab in its own right, but definitely would have been cooler in its original form. If this was some rare cabinet with original art, like was stated earlier in the thread, that would have sucked... but it was a MVS25 that was as generic as they came. No loss. FYI I bought several of these years ago from $200 to $250 a pop. When it was time to go down to one cab, I couldn't give some of them away. These things have next to zero value on the resale market unless you find someone who really wants one (next to impossible). Might as well turn them into a MAME cab. At least that has a bit of value to home users.

I had a Cute as well. That's actually an original color for them. They also had green, blue, and yellow ones I've seen around. Probably other colors as well. That's obviously been repainted. The CPs were originally white, the weather stripping is missing from the bottom, and I believe only the sides and back should be pink (now that I remember mine), but all and all I don't blame the person who did it. They're rust buckets. Mine had to be completely stripped, rust removed, and repainted. Of course I kept the original pink. How could you not? I had Vampire Saviour in it. It really added to the game. All and all, good cabinet, but pretty abysmal for 2 players.

I watched about 30sec of it before stopping the vid, can't stand the guys voice. Seeing the keyboard+mouse under the control panel made me cringe not to mention the monitor.

Yeah, the monitor passthrough worked fine. You need a flexible video driver to get interlaced output though, and FGLRX is definitely not that. I had to drop back to an old RV370 chip last time I wanted to drive a 15khz monitor with my main PC.
