100$ this month. Its been consistently bad. Like way over what it'd be even if it was bad by old standards. They installed some meter regulating nonsense here to go over the ancient one they put in. Right now its getting pretty nutty.

This month my bill was average (about 260 dollars), but last month we did get a freak bill of just over 400 bucks.

It sucked, but it won't be anywhere near as bad as paying for oil the next few months, so I can't really complain.

I live in an older 1960's brick house with a high ceiling living room, garage converted into a recreational room and Mississippi weather outside. In the summer it is $200-240 each month. Around spring and fall it is $120-140. In the winter it is $140-180. I try to keep the house around 70-72 degrees.

I really need to check out the insulation in the living room ceiling and put in a slider door in the rec room. The rec room is always warmer in the summer and colder in the winter compared to the rest of the house. At first I thought it was just older central air which I replaced last year, but it turns out it is just the house.

If you're seeing a spike in your electricity bill, check your fridge. I'd imagine your water heater is gas powered, but if it isn't, check that as well. My June power bill was $160. Now, granted, it's usually $90-100, but there was no way I could justify a nearly double priced bill one month. Sure, hot summer out here in downtown LA, but what it turned out to be was my fridge, running out of freon, and cranking way too much. Got that fixed and my bills are back down to normal. Check your shit.

I think my local provider charges $100 just to think about sending me a bill. I've been nipping at $300/mo lately I think.

Mine went up to $220 last bill. But it was getting to be over 105+ degrees here every day all of July. Usually its around 150-190.

I lol'd

Im running 130-150 in the summer, 250-300 in the winter. Electric everything, FTW! And once we all get to plug are cars in to charge before we drive, that'll only make things better... because the energy from power plants is pollution free... the more you know!

Mine's usually around $120 during the summer, and that's keeping the indoor temp around 77-80 degrees. It plummets to around $40 in the fall-spring, but then the gas bill goes up.

My mother is one of those people that goes over the top with Christmas and Halloween decorations.

I'm talking ass tons of lights, gigantic inflatables (one of Santa, Frosty, Mickey Mouse holding a snowglobe, Death [this one is over 12 feet tall], etc), lawn decorations, you name it.

Needless to say, this habit combined with Denver winters really drives my father crazy as far as the electric bill goes.

Electricity bills will vary from town to town. What's $400 for somebody could be $100 in another town using similar power. A spike in your bill is either a bad read on the meter, or something serious going on with an appliance like nruva suggested.
