TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

MCP's last post reminded me why TAG had to change.

"bdc, bdc, bdc, d+4, bdc, bdc, bdc d+1, d+4, bdc bdc bdc"

The game encouraged turtling. When Namco saw how their fighter was being played, they cut down the distance covered by the backdash and introduced walls. Pretty much forcing players to "fight". Unfortunately it turned into a massive poke-fest, but it was a step in the right direction.

Don't get me wrong, I like TAG, but there was a lot of shit that could only be dealt with in one way "BDC". You would have read in the thread about the mind games from a blocked Jin EWGF, your best bet was to force him to whiff, then look for an opening.

A lot of good memories and a lot of frustration. The one thing I learnt from Kenbu (Korean player) to use King effectively you had to partner him with a character with high evasion like Lei or "bdc" and hope for a whiff.

Wow, that's really surprising. I'd figure SEGA would want to have a product aligned with something of the brand recognition of Namco-Bandai's Tekken. Especially considering we've seen Sonic and Mario in the same games at this point.

I mean, I get it. VF is the undisputed king of 'deep fighting game experiences.' But what good is that to SEGA if they don't do more to expose the product to consumers? The series is so niche anymore, and a Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter would be a great opportunity for market exposure.

Why do Korean players dislike the PS2 version of TTT? I know there are differences (graphically especially) but what else?

Very true my friend. For such an offensive series there was a lot of turtling in Tag especially from Lei Players.

I'm sure we all remember frustrating moments like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dmdJoyzZp0

Yes very surprising. What's even crazier is the companies are often in contact with other. I was told at VFDC that some of VF's programmers helped on Tekken 3. They also licensed their ranking titles to Namco to use in Tekken 5 - Tekken 6. Sega just thinks that they know everything when in fact they are a very stupid company. People like to call SNK a dumb company but SNK isn't that dumb, they know that pleasing the fans is where it's at. Sega likes to tell their fans what they think they should like and won't take opportunities to market their games properly to western audiences.

You should go to VFDC sometime, that's a sad ass site man. Just imagine the warroom without humor, slurs and naked pics. Just a bunch of angry bitter elitsts. When they announced VF:FS the mood of that place changed a bit but now with SFxTK and TTT2 their anger seems to have shifted more towards Sega. A lot of them were saying that TTT2 was the nail in Sega's coffin which I hope isn't true.

The hitboxes aren't quite the same therefore making certain combos impossible to do on the PS2(it went both ways though). They also had a handful of gameplay glitches that didn't work on the PS2. Some of those glitches weren't bad For Example: The arcade version had one glitch where you could do Kazuya's gut punch and immediately cancel into his wind god fist then tag out but you only had 1 frame to do the wind god fist. It was hard as fuck to do but it opened up some nice damage possibilities. It's not possible to do that combo on PS2.

DOA style wouldn't be bad. When you TAG out your ally comes in from the side of the screen. Or they may make it that you are at a disadvantage if your back is to the wall.

What could this "special feature" involving walls be?

New Image from Harada's facebook account

It's a picture of Paul and Law doing a Tag throw on Kazuya. That stage looks like it's gonna be kinda cool.

I picked up T6 for ten bucks on Thanksgiving and been loving it. You can't really experiment with characters when the arcade charges 75 cents to a buck a game and their always in Vs. mode with people that know their shit. So I really hope Bob makes a comeback for TTT2 he's a lot of fun to use and also pretty fast for such a huge character.

Eh, younger Heihachi looks kind of stupid for some reason. And the new character reminds me a lot of the girl in Dead or Alive 4.

Mariposa right?

It could be argued that Tekken doesn't need a luche libre style wrestler... but I think the new girl will compliment my King better than A.King ever could.

My other team is going to be Dragunov and Julia - I call it team WTF. :)

Right. I wonder if there are gonna be any other new characters in this. Didn't really expect any at all since Tekken Tag 1 didn't have any new original characters.

The tag system is dynamic which is nice, but it reminds me too much about DOA's tag system. The stages look awesome, and are highly detailed. Young heihachi looks nice. He reminds me of tekken 1 for some reason. This is going to be interesting...

Hmm..if their going to have a young Heihachi it makes me wonder if we'll be able to play as Bob before he became a walking heart attack.
