Earth Defense Force 2017 is still the best game this generation.

So nobody's heard of shit like Uncharted 2, Fallout 3, MGS 4 — stuff like that, huh? Because those are some of my favourite games this gen.

P.S. Bayonetta doesn't rate, not even on a top 50 list.

I think this thread is for xboxers. But I agree. All great games. Except Uncharted 2, because I like to be ironic.

uncharted 2 isn't a game. one-step from dragon's lair.
mgs 4 is a bloated corpse of outdated game design.
fallout 3 is amazing, but is marginally different from other games of its type.

Ha ha ha, fair enough.

On another note, sounds like I really have to try this EDF game, anyways. I doubt I'll agree it's the best this gen has to offer, but that doesn't mean I don't want to play it.

P.S. I was responding to wasabi, not Buro. This is for Buro: except for the Fallout 3 thing, you're wrong. :smirk:

I thought you had a PS3. You don't?

Uncharted 2 is the best PS3 game.

MGS4 I don't care for as I'm not into that stealth style of gameplay.

Fallout 3 is excellent and I see why people lick its asshole but it's not a personal favorite.

Earth Defense Force 2017 is honestly my favorite game this generation and very easily earns a spot in my Top 10 Favorite Games of All-time list.

Bayonetta (360) is the Game of the Year.

And please, don't turn this into a 360 vs PS3 thing as I don't give a shit what you prefer and why.

I figure if we're talking about the generation, we should clarify that the thread is about the 360's generation, not this generation for all three consoles.

But interesting to see so much praise for this EDF game that I never heard of until now. I want to try it.

MGS4 is the ultimate fan service game. As a MGS fan(boy) I loved it. I can't imagine why anyone else would ever want to play it though.

If Bayonetta doesn't rate in your top 50 games of this generation (who has 50 favorite games from this gen, honestly?) I'd like you to list the ones that do.

Man, I've owned EDF twice and both times I've never been able to get into it. Dug Bulletwitch though.

booooooo.

Game is great man, as is the original.

I know why you don't like it and I recognize the complaints as valid, but those two games, on the hardest difficulty setting were definitely top gaming moments of this generation for me.

The first Uncharted game could be a frustrating piece of shit at times. Your gun simply did not hit things you were aiming dead on at occasionally.

Uncharted 2 pretty much fixed everything that was wrong with it.

Well I may have been exaggerating a bit with that, but Bayonetta is outclassed by pretty much every other high profile title I've played in the last year or so (except Assassin's Creed 2, which is also unbelievably overrated).

Yeah, I never found one, but that's probably due to the fact I never looked. That, in turn, is probably because much like wasabi, I never heard of this game until now either.

No action game, especially in the last year, outclasses Bayonetta's combat mechanics. And that's why the game is so good. The story is hard to follow at best and graphically it is not really anything special outside of creative character and enemy design. But the gameplay blows any competitors out of the water. Games like God of War 3 and Dante's Inferno might have it beat in terms of story and presentation (and presentation is arguable even) but they pale in comparison to Bayonetta's depth. Honestly you might as well be comparing X-Men Origins: Wolverine to Bayonetta.

Yeah it kind of slipped under the radar after a while...I got my 360 pre-Halo 3 so the only good game was Gears pretty much. I had read a bunch of great reviews for it and decided that it was my kind of cheese. Once the fall 07 rush set in everyone forgot about it.

I know a place that has a cheap ($10ish IIRC) sealed copy if you want it :eye::eye:

I disagree. I've logged a few hours on that game and I think the mechanics are akin to a second rate Devil May Cry knockoff.

It's all mired in a sub-par camera and needlessly elaborate combo list anyway. Overrated game (and I'm being generous).

No Batman AA?

Someone define "generation"

What Bill said.

I only played AA after I read on here that it was several members' favorite first time play through experience ever. I read that and thought it must be near perfect. Totally accurate. Ive never played a game where I was excited to see enemies every time, because they never stood a chance against the bat.

Didn't we already do the Bayonetta thing with Ninny?

The guy doesn't see it. I say let it go.

I saw that Bayonetta is down to $20 now...don't know why I didn't grab one.

Oh yeah, it's because I blind-bought Stormrise for $6 and then found out it's fucking horrible.:mad::mad::mad:
