So I recently picked up a KOF 2003 JAMMA Board, and I have everything to make super-guns, just no enclosures, nor decent power supply's.

So it began:

I threw together a fighter stick after cutting down a shoe box to make the dimensions a bit more comfortable. I cut a scrap piece of wood, and drilled out holes to mount HAPP arcade buttons (no sense of wasting my time messing with my sanwa collection), I wired everything together with a spare db-15 extension cable, covered the shoe box with blue painters tape for strength, and viola* I have a 30 minute fighter stick.

Next I needed to wire up a jamma harness. I found a solder type edge connector, so that is where I started. I found an old DIY neobitz S kit that I bought from South-Town FOREVER ago.. I put together the encoder, found some color coded wires, and soldered them to the harness.

Then I found some "Rainbow-Ribbon Wire" and I used that to wire up the controls, it worked out well.

After I got this far, I was like... MAN! I'm ready for go time, but I didn't have a power supply. For some random reason, I remembered that I save all of my old cell phone chargers, and me breaking a shit-ton of phones, I had plenty of them. I searched through all of them until I found one with a +5v output, and I stripped it down and soldered it to the harness.

Now that everything is put together, I was able to plug up the board, and give it a run.

Was a fun/quick project for about an hour of gaming. TOTALLY worth my time though, I had a blast putting it together, and got to bring back old memories playing it.

Now I just need money to get right so that I can actually afford to build things nicely. Haha.

I should've snapped a picture when I was trying to play Soul Calibur 2 with only a JAMMA harness.....

They thing is beautiful based on sheer ghetto points alone. Reminds me of D-Lites Baregun he did in a floppy disk box. +1 for originality.

Nice work!

Thanks. I'm pretty stoked about it.. Took me no time at all to make, and suddenly everyone wants to shake my hand. If only everyone saw my originality in everything I could be a successor in this world... Haha.

Reminds me of the artist DuChamp. Somehow the guy was able to make a sculpture out of an old urinal by placing it on its side. Guess it is just being able to appreciate something from a different perspective. It would be interesting if someone used a urinal to make a supergun on that note.

Not going to lie, but I see a pretty neat cmvs set-up with that urinal, but hey... If someone puts me up to a challenge with a goofy supergun request, and really wants to see it. I'd be more than happy to give it all I've got.

I wasn't placing a genuine request/challenge but hey if you wanna do it, that would be a first for these boards I think. I was trying to think of what would be a good ghetto case for a supergun as I have most of the stuff for a quick build. I must also say I like the fact that you used a cell phone power adapter for the ghetto gun. I was thinking of using a cereal box or something along those lines for an interesting case.

Your games are running on sub 1A output?
Aren't most of those phone guys like 800mA via 5V?

I'm suprised you could play off that...

I wouldn't play anything too expensive on that setup without a stronger PSU. You can potentially damage it if its under amped.

Funny setup though lol. Youre right it was good for a cheap laugh.
