I've heard nothing but good things about risingstuff.com in the past. Apparently their claim to fame is that they can find you any item you need regardless of whether it's in stock.

Well...I've been waiting about a month for them to receive a SFC game from a supplier. I'm just curious as to how high their success rate of actually finding the game is.

I could have bought this game some time ago. I don't mind waiting...I just don't want them to give me the "sorry couldn't get it" two weeks from now.

I've used Risingstuff.com several times but their shipping time is terrible. Normally it'll take roughly a month, but for the same shipping rate I pay, I can get game within 5-7 days from other Japanese vendors (hit-Japan, etc...).

I asked them to find me a copy of SFC Doremi Fantasy in February this year and it took them 2 months to find and then another month before I actually received the game.........:spock:

risingstuff uses SAL to ship which is slower than molasses with no speed options. I try to reserve them as a last resort :D

I've done one order from them so far, everything went through without a hitch. They also give the option to change shipping from SAL to either Airmail or EMS when you check out. I've never had them seek anything out for me though, so I'm not sure about their turn around time with that service.

I've ordered from Rising Stuff twice....first for a few Neo Geo CD games, then for a PC Engine Super CDROM2 system

The CD games arrived perfect, but the Super CDROM2 had issues right out of the box. The eject button needed EXTREME pressure to release the lid, and there was very noticeable gear grinding when the cd would spin up to load something.

Contacted them, and they went ahead and let me KEEP the CDROM2 (which I then fixed up) and send me a Duo-R console, no cost...as well as a free game.

So yeah...a bad product did escape their store, but they really went above and beyond on fixing it. I offered to pay the diff. between the CDROM2 unit and the Duo-R, or at least cover their shipping (cause obviously I was getting a hell of an upgrade from what I paid for) but they just mailed it out EMS, no questions asked.

So my first transaction went off without a hitch, and my second really sold it home that Rising Stuff cared that I received a bad product, and they wanted to make it right.

But yet...I am just one person, but thats my opinion. I'd buy from them again, no questions asked

I just do wish they restocked a bit more often. I rarely buy from them since their stock doesnt rotate much

Well...these guys never got back to me. They have been waiting for their "supplier" to send them a copy of Final Fight Tough for two months. Forget it.

I actually found a review of their service here. http://home.comcast.net/~amakusa666/PC-ENGINE-HELL-BuyersResource.htm

The two people who run RisingStuff are cool people, but that being said I've known them to keep people waiting with no communication for a long while. They lead a few people along without actually telling them when their order was going out and then they just kinda dropped off the map until people got on them really hard. When they did ship some stuff it either became lost or broken along the way. They would send replacements for stuff like that though if need be or give refunds.

They didn't start off like that though. I have ordered from them and they can normally backup their claims to do specialty orders. When they come through they really come through with their orders. If they screw up they usually try to rectify that in some way (free game, upgraded shipping, etc.) And I have had them give me a free upgrade to expedited shipping.

Those are my experiences with them, but I will say that the stuff posted in PC-ENGINE-HELL's review of them really did happen, and a lot of it I saw first hand. Especially the thing with the missing power supplies. So it's kind of a trade off where if you want your stuff then you might have to jump through some hoops and experience some pretty long waiting, but if you do then you'll definitely get the stuff you want in really good condition.

I saw a fall out on another form about this between Risingstuff and amakusa666. It all seemed blown out of proportion if you ask me.

In the past I've purchased about 30+ games from them and they even got me some custom orders. The custom order took a month and they actually forgot that they ordered it for me and put it in the store. I noticed it in the store bought it and emailed them. They said they couldn't find who they ordered it for but was glad I noticed. They tossed in a free game as well on the shipment.

If you keep in mind that this is 2 guys just running a online store I don't think you will be disappointed. Don't expect next day responses on emails, but I would order from them again.

Parts of it can be blown out of proportion, but a lot of it was as bad as it was stated. The two guys can be cool, however, just keep in mind that the wait times on responses and orders can be long. Also some of the stuff they do can be un-business like (like forgetting orders or consistently leaving out power supplies), but they more often than not come through on stuff.

Might be interesting for you all to read what was sent to Amakusa666 on the 12th of this month due to his review of the Rising Stuff store. Just kinda umm, yeah... wow.....

Via E-Mail

Dear Michael Helgeson:

Many of your statements about Rising Stuff and its owners in your website postings are untrue and defamatory. You made them maliciously to injure Rising Stuff in its trade, office and profession. As such, they are defamatory per se. Under O.C.G.A. 51-5-11, this letter constitutes a demand for immediate retraction in writing of these false and libelous statements. In accordance with O.C.G.A 51-5-11(b)(1)(C), We demand that your retraction and correction be accompanied by an editorial in which you specifically repudiated your libelous statements.

Below, we have noted some of the more patent, malicious, and libelous comments made by you on your website. If Rising Stuff is forced to file suit to stop your wrongful conduct, it will also seek an award of its attorney fees and litigation expenses.

1. On your website you stated the following:

"we got them to admit they didn't actually have anything we wanted in stock, and that in general they would get the stuff from their distributor (aka Yahoo Japan Auctions most likely then not)."

Rising Stuff has never intentionally shown products as in stock that we do not have on hand. This statement is malicious in nature and has no evidence to support it.

2. On your website you stated the following:

"When confronted on this issue they both claimed it was to save on shipping cost, and had no defense or excuse as to why they did not mention this prior to selling and shipping the systems."

Rising Stuff never claimed to leave out power supplies from orders. Power supplies were often shipped separately to keep packages below a 2 kg weight. Your statement is patently false.

3. On your website you stated the following:

"I don't know the guys personally, but to me it appeared that they were banking on and taking advantage of the fact people thought they were nice guys, so they were seeing what they could get away with."

"They are indeed to be avoided, because buying from them is like supporting the spread of fucking super AIDS and meth babies."

"You're just a shit piece spinster trying to make a buck."

These are clear attacks on Rising Stuff with no basis or evidence behind them. They are highly defamatory in nature with no evidence to support them.

Many of these errors have been previously brought to your attention. Your failure to correct your erroneous and false statements and their repetition after notice of their falsehood constitutes further publication of libel. It also confirms your malicious intent.

If you do not immediately publish the requested retraction, and cease and desist from tortuous interference and making false and malicious comments about Rising Stuff and its owners we will file suit against you. Please govern yourself accordingly.

Sincerely yours,

Alex Wilson
Co-Owner of Rising Stuff

PC Engine Hell/ Michael Helgeson has had a vendetta out for my store ever since we banned him from our forums for verbally harassing a terminally ill patient (I believe his words were something approximating "I hope you die and go to hell you bitch" but with a lot more vulgarity). He's told me the following:

I will make it my lifes mission you are BURIED as a business

I'm not saying it's legitimate or anything, but it's written by the co-owner not a lawyer or anything, so it's possible. Anyone can run a business! :)

Evidently that Rising stuff guy copied it off of here and edited and replaced what he wanted it to say to him. When Amakusa666 called his bluff and basically laughed it off he got a reply back from that guy Alex threatening to take it to the next level or something silly along those lines. He has been forwarding the messages to a few others besides me so they can see what Alex sent him and his replies back to him. I think Mithos on here is one of the guys getting copies of the emails too?

Ended up too that Rising stuff store does buy stuff off Yahoo japan auctions. Amakusa666 was able to find their id on there after googling the email attached to the threat notice thing. Half the time they do not actually pay for stuff they win. Here is links to the page that got linked to their id, and their feedback page also.

They have like 33 negatives. I am not impressed, but if that is how they do business, what ever then. :shame:

43 positives and 33 negatives, nice ratio. Looks like its time for Amakusa666 to update his site with their yahoo auctions feedback. I used to check the rising stuff store from time to time, looks like I am done with that.

They are good people, but I think they're still inexperienced or ignorant in the ways of dealing with criticism. Threatening to sue for libel is flimsy grounds to try to sue on all ready, but this is just silly.

Not to mention that they're in Japan anyways. I'd love to see a Japanese Judge or Lawyer's expression from a pair of videogame selling gaijin who want to sue another gaijin in the USA because of a website. They'd have to bribe the lawyer and judge, or there would be no case.

Alex here from Rising Stuff.

When I wrote that letter I was having a pretty crappy day and after seeing PC-Engine Hell have one of his friends post links to his review of us I kind of busted a nut. My apologies for the situation. Certainly won't be pursuing this legally.

Sorry to the community too for making a boneheaded move. I certainly respect free speech and wouldn't want to give the idea I don't.

Sounds great. I personally say you can definitely solidify this apology by providing me with a soure for 'King of Fighters XI' Atomiswave and 'Guilty Gear X' Atomiswave that don't cost > $200....
....I clearly speak for myself....

On a serious note, nice of him to come apologize. I've perused RisingStuff a few times but always thought their site looked kind of questionable....

Always wanted to get into selling Atomiswave stuff actually but I just don't know enough about it to be comfortable selling it. I guess that goes for most arcade stuff really. Maybe someday I'll have time to spend a couple weeks researching it. :)

While it already seems less sincere when you copy and paste the same apology for multiple forums, it is even weirder you claim he had a friend post a link. On forums people come across reviews all the time and post links and share info, and it has nothing to do with them knowing the author, being their friend, or anything. Do you have a link to this supposed post, are able to prove he asked someone to post it, and can you actually confirm that person is Amakusa666 friend? If not, then basically not only have you accused someone of slander, but are slandering them yourself. That bit of accusation added to your "apology" just ends up tainting it. So when you get the time from your store, links and proof please? No ones going to believe a accusation like that otherwise.

be careful

i ordered the last blade 2 from them last year during their winter sale for f-king 25 bucks! pop the cart in my mvs and what came up was the last blade 1. Even though i didn't return it (because i fell in love with the game instantly) it still says something about their service.

Really? Wish you had told me about that! Drop me a PM with your order info and I'll see if I can get you setup with a refund/ store credit for the full cost of the order.
