Ikaruga. Game was too hard for me.

God of War 1, I gave up on the multiple Kratos fight.

SFIV & SSFIV. It seems like I'm never gonna get the hang of it, I just can't play the game at a decent competitive level.

Are you putting enough time in to get results or just playing briefly, getting frustrated and quitting entirely?

Uncharted 2, whatever the hardest mode was. It was way too frustrating to have to slow down my pace just to survive the enemies. It was almost worse than Metal Gear Solid 4 in Big Boss mode.

And to the people that quit on Super Street Fighter 4, lol@you. The game is so easy.

It happens quite often. I'm a casual gamer, I don't enjoy playing videogames for challenge or competition. I play most games on the easy or normal difficulty. The only games I've played on the highest difficulty are those that were easy enough to make that jump after completing them on normal difficulty (Mass Effect 2 for example).

But if a game is raising my blood pressure and frustration I won't hesitate to stop immediately. I'll come back to that game one more time to see if I can surpass my troubles with it. If I can't, boom...done...trade it in. I play videogames to chillout, relax and melt away, not to raise my pulse.

You should've seen me when I was younger, I would routinely break NES controllers because I would become so frustrated and "ninja star" (thank you Ninja Gaiden) that controller right into the wall. But that wasn't an issue when it was a simple thing to have the parents purchase another controller. When I started purchasing all my own stuff that all came to an end.

I'm like you bro. I remember doing the same thing back in the Nes days. I would get so mad that I would throw this temper tantrum and either slam on my nes console or chuck a controller. 5 minutes later after I had calm down a bit, I would start playing again.

Now in days, I'm looking more for a good game I could beat without going through so much hassle. I don't mind a little bit of difficulty, but I don't want to get upset over it.

The last time I got pissed off playing a video game was SSF4. I was over one of my friends house with my wife and he had acouple of his friends over. We were over there watching the Shogun and Machida fight, and SF was brought up. He said he was good at it and I told him I was good at it also, but I'm really not that good. We talked about game pads vs joysticks whatever. We finally played each other online like 4-5 weeks ago and out of 10 matches, I lost all of them. At the end of the 10th match I almost chucked my TE stick. I haven't played SSF4 since.

I find I don't play action games too much anymore because I don't have the skill or patience for them anymore.

One reason why I play RPGs mostly.

When it comes to fighting games against other live players, I don't get frustrated enough to quit at all. I prefer to keep playing those tough challengers because I want to improve my game.

When SSF IV first came out, I played LWK in a number of matches and he handled me pretty well. I lost more than ten matches to him, and I considered myself a very good player at the time, but one who hadn't played competitively in quite a while. I've worked hard at the game since then, and I can't say it would be a 50/50 split, bit I think I'd show better than I did last time.

Fighting games played at a competitive level require repetition, practice and hard work if you REALLY want to step up and improve.

However, if you have no intention of working hard to get better, then I don't see the point in getting frustrated at losing. Just take the loss, accept that you only play for enjoyment and be cool.

As stupid as it sounds, if you like the game but hate losing the matches, just play againstthe computer at low difficulty and enjoy housing the bad AI. If you get bored eventually, then crank up the difficulty and do it all over again.

One thing I've learned about fighting games that DOES frustrate me is when I fuck up the control and I whiff a fierce rather than throw a fireball (or whatever.) But that's a matter of patience and adapting to the speed and sensitivity of the control. That just requires discipline to perfect (most of the time-sometimes, it's just bad control.)

Surprised no one has mentioned Final Fantasy XIII. I really, really, wanted to like and enjoy that game. The shitty, emotionless characters and linear gameplay was already pissing me off, but once I got to Barthandaulus, I kept getting my ass handed to me. I tried all different kinds of strategies, upgrade combinations, and even went as far as using a guide to the T, but I couldn't not beat him for the life of me. My friends that were playing the game at the time kept telling me how easy he was and what methods to do, but I just couldn't do it, and I had had enough and couldn't do it anymore. That same day I sold it and bought Mass Effect 2, which was a waaaaay more worthwhile experience.

Ikaruga and MDK2 both got me, I quit on those games. I just remembered, because other people posted about em.

I only played Demon Souls one time, too. But I think I just never got back around to it. I don't recall hating it.

Last year it was Super Turbo. I was kinda getting into it for a while, but Dhalsim Vs Vega is the definition of frustrating. Slide kick = ggs, wall lunge = ggs, flip kick =ggs, miss a throw tech = ggs. I counter picked for a while, but that's lame. Tried switching characters, but it just takes a lot of fun out of things. Slowly getting back into it now though.

I have taken a break from fighting games due to frustration. I got to the point where I wasn't sure I was even having fun with them but felt this compulsion to keep playing anyway. But I eventually went back to them and I do still enjoy them.

As for other types of games, I don't know if I've ever completely given up on one due to difficulty. I am a pretty hard headed person and I flat out refuse to let a computer beat me sometimes. I might put the game down for months, but I will get back to it eventually and finish it.

Ninja Gaiden on OG XBOX for me. I played through NG2 on 360 without much issue... but NG. Fuck that game. I was sick of it about half way through. It's a good game though.

Yes, but quite rarely. Recently I got so frustrated playing Trials HD that I doubt I'll ever go back to it.

Man, Trials is magical. You hit a wall at some point and you're trying to do these stages that seem like impossible human feats. But then after banging away at it for hours, something finally clicks and it all of a sudden becomes manigable... almost easy. Easily one of my favorite games of all-time. Definitely my pick for best XBLA game ever.

SF4, I just didn't care enough to try to get good at it. It also had one of the worst opening songs in history.

Oh man, I can't believe I forgot to mention Demon's Souls. I rushed out to get it after reading everyone's positive reviews of it on the forum. I knew the game was going to be hard, but even easy mode felt like other game's nightmare mode times ten! I could never make it out of the first area. Each time I did make it a little bit further, but I hated that once you died, you had to start all over again from the very start. Needless to say, I kept at it for a day or two, but then gave up after that.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Any time a GTA thread comes up here I'm generally the first to throw my 2 cents in on how much I hate this series. I played GTA3 until it had lost all meaning, and I tried the same with this game, but let me tell you this ass hole of a video game made me forever quit the series, and wish hell upon its developers. It was such a glitchfest that I couldn't even attempt to enjoy it.
A few choice moments were.

1. Running into a wall and having the world flip upside down leaving Tommy to fall into the sky for about 5 seconds, afterward the fixed itself and Tommy lost 20 health.
2. Wheeling too far on a bike which led Tommy to fall off, only to slide on the ground for about 30 seconds dying somewhere around 15 seconds.
3. Corrupted save data (and no cheats were used)
4. Corrupted save data a second time after getting 100 packages (and no cheats were used)
5. falling through floors countless times

I had never run into a game that was so poorly constructed and I wasn't willing to find out if there would be another title that would be. Fuck GTA.

I put in enough time to pass several challenges with different characters. I have come to the conclusion that the timing on this game is way different, it's not as tight as previous SF games, it feels rather loose to me. I'm no blaming the game 'cause I know it's a great game, I just simply turn away from it. Also is not a matter of not winning 'cause even at my mediocre best I can still beat just about anyone I have fought against, the problem is that I'm not happy with my game and instead of spending more time in this game I rather spend the time with other games I happen to like better.

WHAT? Did you play it on PS2,Xbox or PC?

I never encountered any of those bugs. Vice City is an incredible game.
