Until I read this I didn't even know that a new Bond movie was in the works.

I like the "classic" Bond movies with Connery and Moore, but have no interest in the newer movies.

Meh...they just crank out a new one every few years to rake in more cash.

MGM's financial woes just seem to continue, and threaten the livelihood of several quality, high-profile projects in the works. First, the continuing delays caused by MGM's money situation caused Guillermo Del Toro's exit from The Hobbit, and now it looks like they're shutting down Daniel Craig's third outing as James Bond.

Just a few months ago, it was reported that acclaimed director Sam Mendes had taken the reigns of the Bond franchise, and even more recently, rumors that Rachel Weisz was to play the bad guy in Bond 23. But now it seems all that has come to a halt.

While Eon Productions had suspended active development of the film back in April, it appears now that the film has been canceled outright. British gossip rag The Mirror has "confirmed the movie has been axed – and it could be years before the secret agent with a licence to kill is back on the big screen."

According to the tabloid, an "insider" told them, "Members of the production crew have been told the Bond film has been canned. There is a lot of bad feeling as a lot of time, money and hard work has already gone into this."

Could this be the end of Daniel Craig's reign as 007?

IMHO the gentleman part of the James Bond character does not even come close in the newer movies. Sir Sean Connery and Roger Moore are definitely the best casts.

Roger Moore ftw, even his name was an innuendo.

Not interested in any of the new ones, even Brosnans after goldeneye were shit.

Looks like MGM winning that lawsuit was actually the worst thing to happen to the franchise.

Im glad really, dont like Daniel Craig has Bond. I thought Clive Owen would have been the better choice for the new Bond.

I really liked Daniel Craig's Bond, but I think that's because I liked the brutish badass more than the super slick spy (Connery still rules all though.)

I agree that Clive Owen would have been an awesome choice, though. I remember playing Privateer 2 (which starred a young Owen) and thought, "This guy needs to play Bond someday."

God dammit. I was really looking forward to it, too. Daniel Craig was my favorite bond, for the reasons GohanX mentioned. He just seemed more human to me.

This is bad news for me, too. Craig was the first guy to play Bond that has interested me in a LONG time. I was old enough to see Moonraker in theaters but looking back on it, I don't really think much of Moore's 007. I went back and watched the Connery offerings over time and found him to be the best Bond without question.

Craig is a very close second for me. I really liked him. Hope this gets resolved so they can make the movie. I really felt the franchise was effectively reinventing itself, even though I think it was a mistake having Quantum Of Solace be a follow up to Casino Royale. I would have much preferred a 'new' adventure over a vestige of the previous flick with plot threads tied to it.

Yeah, seriously. What a mess. That big gun used in the promos and posters and everything wasn't even used in the movie; it was when he shot the guy at the end of Casino. Lame.

Craig was astonishing in Casino, hopefully one that can even come close to that movie will come out.

Timothy Dalton. I'll suffer no piss taking about him.

High five. Dalton was a bad motherfucker, and the most underrated Bond of all time.
The 2nd film with him blew, but that was hardly his fault.
The Living Daylights kicked all kinds of ass.

Craig was fine to me, but I haven't seen quantam yet to be fair.

Brosnan was a fantastic Bond, he was simply put n some of the shittiest films in the series which does not help him.

I love Moore, but his films were a "what the fuck". Especially Moonraker and Live and Let Die which decided to let logic go out the window more than any Bond film had.

Ok, maybe I should have been more descriptive. That list was my favorite Bond list. Craig's lack of Bond-ness is made up for in my mind by kicking so much ass. The most Bondy Bond list is as follows.

1. Connery
2. Brosnan
3. Moore
4. Craig

First you have to invest a stack of cash to film them, and I think with MGMs current credit record no one is going to lend them some :mad_2:
