So, I'm pretty damn excited for this, and am considering selling a variety of things to nail down a Wii and a copy of it. In honor of this, I figured we'd vote on what you think the best Treasure release of all time is...

Totally accepting write-ins, but I figured I'd post what are pretty much their five most talked-about titles.

Had to got with Gunstar Heroes as it is easily the game on this list that I've spent the most time with. I love Gunstar Heroes.

However, I recently started playing Gradius V a lot, I've owned it since it came out but never put much time into it for whatever reason. What a fantastic game.

Are there weapons tiers for Gradius V?

Only played anything apart from Ikaruga very briefly, so Ikaruga, and I don't even like that very much.

S+P seemed alright but I was playing it on VC with the classic controller, and it sucks with that. GV is pretty cool but I'm not the biggest fan of hori shooters.

Mmmh...Astro Boy: Omega Factor.

Then, maybe Silhouette Mirage.

Out of the five in Loopz's poll, Gradius V, followed by Ikaruga and then Gunstar Heroes. But who the fuck knows, stuff like this changes on a daily basis and just how I feel in that moment.

Sadly I have yet to beat S&P despite owning it since Christmas and I've never played Guardian Heroes.

I don't share that opinion at all, but I just feel like they've made better games.
*shrugs*

Gradius V, for me, is the pinnacle of their games. The fact that they could inject that much life and beauty into a franchise that, frankly, had become unbelievably stale is definitely a testament to their talent. It's not only the best Gradius title, but it's arguably the best horizontal shooter ever released.

BTW, I reject the phrase 'shmup'. It's shooter. Period. These games were around long before Doom all the other FPS games would come down the pike.

There was an interview with somebody from Treasure saying they've never heard of the word "Shmup" and your better off saying Shooter or another phrase in Japanese. Of the game's in Loopz's poll I took Gunstar. Best five bucks I ever spent on a game.

But when it comes to Treasure its so hard to pick ONE good game from them. The Bleach DS games were amazing fighters, Raident Silvergun and Gradius V are amazing shooters and Astroboy and Guardian Heroes are amazing beat em' ups. You really can't go wrong with them. Even a game like Stretch Panic is still better then most shit gaming companies put out.

I've had Deathsmiles on preorder since April, but I have a 20 dollar off code from buying Galaxy 2, so I'm going to use that for S&P2 when I'm finished with Deathsmiles and Galaxy 2.

Sin and Punishment 2 comes out on Sunday. I have a deep backlog, but I'm buying it day one to support the developers.

If you pre-order at Gamestop, you get a 500 point card and a poster.

Let it be said I'm also pretty high on Gunstar right now, I managed to find a complete copy for three dollars at a local hole-in-the-wall the other day, which was pretty awesome. It's competing for time with MUSHA right now on the Genny. ;)

honestly, you really should pick up a Wii. Punch Out, the new Metroid and Sin & Punishment 2 are reason enough to get the console.

On topic, I voted for Sin & Punishment. I'll get a ton of heat for this, but it is easily my favorite rails shooter. Stage 4, where you break off a piece of an aircraft carrier, is absolutely amazing.

I think the split with the votes here is really telling. Picking your favorite Treasure game is like picking between your own children. It would be even more fractured if Radiant Silvergun and Astro Boy were on the list.

I still don't think anyone would pick Mischief Makers or Stretch Panic though. :emb:
Equally interesting would be trying to pick their WORST game.

Ikaruga, but not by a long shot.

I am a big fan of Alien Soldier as well, and have a lot of fun with Gunstar and Dynamite Heady.

Sin and Punishment was a fantastic game, and I can't wait until Sunday. But there is something special about Ikaruga which beats out the rest for me.

Nary a mention of Yu Yu Hakusho for the MD, what the heck is going on here? In the top notch realm of Treasure's groundbreakers, nothing matches that title for sheer replay value(via the 2 & 4P versus modes) in my book. When it comes to the myriad of 90s console exclusive fighters, I'm hard pressed to name another specimen from the 16-bit era that hooked me from day one and(thankfully)hasn't lost its luster fifteen years later.
