We seriously need to institute birth permits. Put birth control in the water and then when people are ready to reproduce give them a permit to do so. Will cure all of our food/water/housing issues.

Seriously though, why do we still allow pitbulls? Not that we should exterminate any particular breed of dog, but what about government regulation to control sale of the species and gradual phasing out? Maybe there is some powerful pitbull lobby I am just not aware of.

Do you need a special permit to own a tiger? It's a cat right? Sometimes they can be really loving and affectionate creatures. But some "pets" are not safe. Manticore did a number on his owner... and then there's the woman who had her face mauled off by a chimp. Some animals make good pets. Pitbulls not so much. Send them all to the middle east, and use them to attack terrorists or something. Maybe send them to north korea to fight for America, and the lives of their Korean cousins.

I'm sure there's a human/animal rights violation in there somewhere.
not sure if I really approve of dogs being used to maul human beings.

Interesting that his twin brother, who was raised normally as a man, also killed himself --a few years before David.

That leads a whole questions about whether mental stability is inherited, twins, etc.

I think there are some who wouldn't mind; of course, how would you know who was who at such an early age?

There's a lot of evidence that you're wrong. There are plenty of cases where someone did exactly what you're suggesting (after the kid lost his dick in a botched circumcision or something) and when they grow up, they feel alienated and uncomfortable in their own skin. Then the poor bastard finds out he was born a boy but raised a girl.

I read about it a long time ago, and I can't remember the details, but it fucks with people's heads, believe me.

EDIT: Yeah, that Reimer guy might have been the guy I read about. He's not the only one, though. I heard of other cases.

Behavior can be engineered, but later in life the person could have a total break down over being the wrong sex.

This happens to people all the time who haven't had their testicles eaten. Just look at Chastity Bono, or Chaz Bono rather.

Not only would I not want to put someone in that situation, but also keep in mind that medically it is fairly simple to form a snapper ($20,000) but very very difficult to do the reverse ($80,000 - with mediocre results).

Beyond that the child may wonder why it is being dosed with with estrace and progesterone.

It's a terrible idea IMHO. Especially when you consider that it would be relatively easy to fit the kid with prosthetic testicles.

Owning small terriers makes me very weary of Pitt Bulls (which are descended from terriers). If a Pit Bull has 1/10th of the attitude of my dogs, It should be put down.

Ah, interesting. I missed that. I've heard somewhere that depression runs in the family somehow whether through genetics or something.

I saw a documentary about him.

I don't think it was the best idea in his situation though. He was almost 2 years old by the time they actually did something. And I believe him having a twin brother made the whole process more difficult. I'm pretty sure it would have turned out differently if the process began when he was younger and had a sister/no siblings instead.
