platoon leaders can call in mortar strikes (assuming the mortar battery hasn't been taken out already). Aside from that they can set defend/destroy objective markers for their squad and everyone gets bonus pts for following orders. Not sure what privileges gneerals have as I've yet to be one.

the game is tough no doubt. Can get chaotic with so many people and chances are you will die a lot. On the flip side, controls are pretty tight and there's a lot of weapon/abitilty upgrades which I dig. Lately its just been acquisition mode that's unlocked to play. Basically you have attackers and defenders with two transports to take control of. Its hard getting deep enough into enemy territory to get close most of the time. If you're on a team that has their shit together you can parachute in if your able to take out the air defense (by planting charges). I've also gunned on a chopper, but am unclear on how we called it in. It just sat stationary with machine guns on each side. Barracks are protecting the outskirts of the defenders territory and they can be a bitch. There a guy inside firing a turret on the top. Its primary fire is a machine gun and secondary are missles that fuck up the apc's attackers can approach in. There's a lot more I can speak on, but I feel like I've kinda gone off on a tangent.

I dig the game, but agree it will be overshadowed by mw2.

I'm wondering if this game wont fill in a different niche than MW2. I mean this is basically more of a Battlefield type game, than a close quarters FPS like MW2.

I think different people will be drawn to it. I can't help but wonder if MAG would have been something that would have worked better on the PC.

When you aim, is it through the iron sights?

Also, how realistic is this in terms of bullet damage?

Is it more akin to CoD4 where you can get taken out in two bursts from an m-16 or is it more like Bad Company where you have to unload half your magazine at them?

I just visited the official MAG forums and found that the majority of those on the official forums are barely literate.

Either that or they have zero capacity to articulate a damn thing.

It reminds me of the time I decided to take a look at the official Bungie forums.

I've only had the PS3 setup for a few hours now... been playing with it... but holy crap it takes forever to play anything on this console. DOWNLOADING... DOWNLOADING... DOWNLOADING... Finally down, hurray! Oh, wait... Installing... Installing... Installing... OK... now it's time to play... Loading... setting up hard drive... checking for updates... downloading... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I like the system so far, but this is just a glorified desktop computer. That being said, Trine rocks my fucking socks. I think that also got a PC port, but I'd much rather play it on the sofa. Man is it a great looking/playing game. I spent like an hour with the demo alone.

PS: Ratchet and Clank has been installing for the last 15 mins :(

Installing is bullshit.

I've only ever downloaded 1 thing on the PS3 that didn't require an install.

I think I've fallen in love with LittleBigPlanet. I really didn't think I'd be that into it. I knew it looked great, but I didn't know it looked this good in motion. The whole presentation is just blowing me away. It may have taken forever to install, and the whole process may have felt like a cold-lifeless-computer app, but the game itself is just seeping with so much love out of every seam. I need to pick it up after Christmas.

The MAG BETA Client is up for download now, though you won't be able to play it until Jan 4.

Yeah...

They actually opened up the Beta Client for download in late December in anticipation of the open Beta. I'm glad they did that so I could play today instead of having to download the beta today.

It's a huge ass download and it's not very fast at all.

Went through the huge download of the update last night, only to find that the beta isn't apparently running at the moment. Well, that was a waste of time.

I was able to play all day today.

Maybe just late night/early morning server maintenance.

I just got everything all setup in no time.

Just played for an hour.

Not entirely sure I how feel yet.

At the moment "unremarkable" might be the best description if I were pressed to give one.

Finally managed to get on, not too bad. Looks decent enough, though maybe feels a bit hollow compared to something awesome like Killzone 2. Will play more.

I hope in the Beta you can play a mode other than than that standard attack/defense mode.

I guess i'll have to get to level 10.

Starting to like it a bit more.

Not even worth playing at the moment because on the off chance I manage to get past the pre-game errors and get into a game I just get booted 5-10 minutes later.

Looks like you can only create one character?

I'm on VALOR (or whatever it's called).
