There are a million photos in the article, so it's hard to tell if your photos were used (since I never saw the originals)

You get kicked out? I read magazines and books today for 2 hours and they didn't kick me out.

No kidding, just go to B&D and buy a coffee and they'll let you read just about anything at their coffee tables (except for newspapers).

if a piece of furniture can be decided over $12, it's not worth owning.

buy the best, so that you will not regret it.

$14,000 for a couch by Ligne Roset is just absurd no matter how much money a person has.

Still, for the price of Retro Gamer I could buy two Lack tables that would be far more useful.

my old roommate used to have the matching coffee table. very cheap, but don't put any weight on them, as the lack of bracing makes them pretty useless for that. at the end of eight months, we no longer trusted it to hold up a plate of food without collapsing over... ahh, ikea.
of course, i wouldn't trust two copies of retro gamer with the same task, either, so either way you're still coming out ahead. grin.

got my issue in the mail yesterday; just finished reading the article with my morning coffee.

very thorough big picture write-up; with some nice neo scene details thrown in.

fantastic work Geddon_jt.

Tonk, your SSVS, and slug x images are indeed in the article. [recognized the tile floor]

surprised NGF didn't get a mention; but this was probably more fitting

my only regrets were the MOTW screenshot mixup [i think RBFFS was thrown in], and the fact that the neo didn't get the cover.

it deserved the cover.

Please don't put proper scans up. It's illegal after all.

It's a shame that a few people are still bitter about how they think I should have acted in the past and the control they think I have over people who aren't actually employed by the company, but all I can do is respond to feedback which i've done with the Neo piece. Based on feedback i've had so far a lot of people appear more than happy with what's in the current issue and the support we've shown the forum.

Sadly AW's photo didn't make the cover (the Monkey Island was deemed more commercially viable and you'd have to be an extreme SNK fanatic to think otherwise) but it is used right at the beginning of the article. I also put a couple of the box scans that were given to me as well. There are also two images from Tonk. Space sadly ensured that we could only fit so much in.

It's unlikely we'll be covering the Neo itself any time in the future now, but the next step is to ensure that we get some making ofs. I really want to do an indepth piece on Garou, but apparently none of the original developers are are Playmore, which makes it's a little more difficuly to track them down.

Thanks to recent penetration in the US RG is picking up sales faster than ever, so thanks to everyone who continues to support the magazine and if there's anything you want to see in future issues, or you have an idea that would make a good feature don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Oh and that Garou mistake above is my fault. That's what happens when you proof pages at 11pm

Darran, I need a free sub!

Or you guys can all autograph an issue for me and send it on over.

I'm gonna register on the RG forums... needs more content other than the Amiga and Spectrum :p

Someone take a pic of my pics and shout out so i can brag on Facebook like a faggot.

I dunno about a free sub but I'll sort you out with an issue. Pretty sure we have some left. Same goes to AB. Retro Gamer is going to be more UK focused as it's a UK magazine, but we're putting more and more US centric stuff in. You only have to look at the last six issues to realise that. And for those complaining about the high price, you can buy 13 issues for £50, which works out at around $6 an issue.

I hope you're kidding about shopping at ikea...

I really like the Roche Bobois provinciales collection. The couches are hip, but not lobby bar at the W hip, which is too hip to be eternal.

Just been out in the pissing rain to get a copy. A decent 15 minute read, and it's always nice to see the NeoGeo in print.

The article reads really positively and you can tell there's a love for the system.

Someone scan it or post a write up the article. Stu's paycheck isn't getting any of my money, even if it's a few 'quid'.

I was just thinking how awesome it would be to buy like 100 of those tables and create some kind of Lack Pyramid. That would be a pretty cool project to throw in a backyard:

"Holy shit, what is that?"
"Its my table pyramid."
"My god... how much did it cost to make?"
"About $700."
"Bu...my dining table cost over $1000."

I know they're pretty cheap --the coffee table version was one of my college tables back in undergrad. Still, it served its purpose without any problems. I think one of my old roommates still has it.

Some of Ikea's stuff is actually put together pretty well. They key is taking the time to examine the samples on their floor. Some of the stuff isn't going to last, but I've bought some things (like their legendary and discontinued Jerker desk) that last forever and keep looking new. The Besta entertainment unit system is a pretty nice system if you're willing to get bold with it.

I've been mixing all sorts of places. It helps Room & Board is HQed nearby as they have their only outlet which offers a ton of stuff (almost always returns of custom furniture) at big discounts. I recently bought two identical red leather couches. Sexy. Picked up another couch from a Blu Dot dealer (which happened to also be a local company, but I was just looking for a specific measurement in clean line modern), and another comfy couch from Ikea. So they've been all over the place.

Their sixten chair was perfect for use as a candy cabinet stool. To my dismay, they've discontinued it.

For my set up I wanted chair that I could easily store, so I went with something similar to these:

They were surprisingly comfortable.

I believe I'll have to wait for the e-mag edition to read the article...

Anyway, Neo-Geo is a myth even for users that have never played or seen a real one: perhaps they read about it in the magazines, perhaps they played at the arcades with the MVS... but with such a high prices and its games being the same thing played at the arcades, it reached myth category.

I tell this because IMO Neo-Geo truly deserves the cover of any Retro-Gamer magazine featuring an in-depth.

And if Monkey Island was to be featured in the magazine and thus the cover had to be about it, perhaps the Neo article could have wait a bit so it could be featured when the cover could be dedicated to the Neo.

It's just my opinion.

By the way, what problem had RG (or Stu, or any other of the RG staff) here?
