Anyone looking forward to Tekken 6?

In my honest opinion, they'd just have to make a new system that borrows a little bit from both. However the biggest problem is that damn Guard button. Tekken characters could prosper with it and without it, however VF characters can't be played properly without a guard button. Man just the thought of that game makes my head hurt.

It's crazy that 2 series have soooo much in common and so much that separates them.

Both fighters for the most part have exactly the same features, but are executed differently. The Guard button can easily be omitted.

I think the hardest thing in VF is the (Open Stance) and (Closed Stance) features. Mostly applied to juggles. They have no significance in the Tekken universe. Similarly off-axis juggle starters (a juggle started on an opponents side or back) have no significance in the VF universe.

A lot of the balance seen in Tekken these days as in 5 and onwards were ideas taken from VF. So it's not surprising that some VF players would look down on Tekken.

@Asmoday, thanks for that link.

OK yeah they could remove it, I think I was overreacting but I guarantee a lot of VF players would be super pissed because because a lot of players buffer moves from a guard especially Akira, Wolf and Goh players. Guard cancels in float combos/juggles probably wouldn't be missed because that'd be one less thing to do.

Open and closed stances probably wouldn't be missed. I'm sure they could just make the VF characters stay in one stance all the time.

Throw escapes would be a big fuckin problem.

I just know if they made this game there would be a lot of pissed off people. Like I said they'd have to make a new system native to that game with some borrowed elements to make the players feel at home.

I finally picked this up yesterday for 360. In a word. Awesome. I love the amount of love NAMCO puts in Tekken. Amazing.

Just so you guys know be leery of the "level up your game" tutorial on Youtube. there is some wrong info in there.

I myself also questioned some of their nomenclature on video no. 5 even though I'm pretty rusty and out of it when it comes to Tekken these days. I'm trying to get myself back up to par.

On and on a side note, 3 of my young cousins also play and the real shocker is the youngest one and 11 year old girl Is a Zafina player who only likes to play on an arcade stick. What's an even bigger shocker is that she knows what she is don't and doesn't mindlessly smash buttons. She is only 11 and uses mind games and mixups!

They definitely needed to do multiple takes and splice the various best runs together, but its a youtube video on a fighting game that featured at least one guy that seemed very uncomfortable in front of a camera. I didn't expect much polish going in though so I overlooked a lot. I also noticed a number of moments when they got hung up on some terminology that really didn't matter as much as what the effect was. When it comes to how many hits you can attain on a juggle against the wall max and how a bound move resets it etc I am clueless so I just took their word for it. I never played T6 before it came out on the consoles and haven't totally invested my time in a Tekken since Tag so I know less about the current state of the game than they do I would assume. I could easily see them saying something that was incorrect and me completely missing it.

Overall it was still a decent video for people who know nothing of the series and would like to get a grasp of the very basics before playing it in vs, but don't want to spend hours in the practice mode just testing various button combinations.

Yes It's not a completely wasted series. I still think it's decent especially for people new to the series but for the veterans who are getting back into the game like myself it makes you raise your eye brows.

I didn't have any problems with them when I asked them about "Absorb" moves but my homie said that they get offended when you try to correct them. I think everyone should be open to feedback.

Yeah, that portion dealing with the idea of a move that absords a hit that tried to flow into talking about specials that parry and attack was awkward, but again... they seem to have done this in 1 take and stuff like that happens when you get on camera and "wing it".

Glad I'm not the only one who saw something awkward with that portion of the video. I honestly started to question myself just a bit cuz I'm not the smartest.

By the way have you seen the Item moves video? that shit is wacky as hell. Originally when i saw it i was pissed but when I realized that these item moves either have the slowest startup known to man or barely take any damage at all I enjoyed it more.

craziness! Paul's hair growing taller with each move is ridiculous.

I really wish the scenario mode wasn't here. Who actually likes this? I am only playing it to unlock stuff. Other than that I could care less for the scenario mode.

I actually had not seen 90% of those. I only really knew about Bryan's shotgun, Paul's hair and the devil mask that allows Jin, I think, to do the eye lasers of DJ. Cool vid, thanks.

Finally went through the scenario mode. Fighting Alisa was one of the biggest pains in the ass. Right now I am trying to beat the Nightmare train stage. :lolz: Like that's ever going to happen, shit.

I love playing Tekken with some challenge and all, but what is up with this ultimate pain in the ass challenge stuff to unlock story and characters? It seems like it gets harder in every game. It is easier to unlock Gouken and Akuma in SF4 and even that was hard.

I am having less trouble beating Azazel now that I have gotten better with all the characters moves. Keep on coming with the ground 2 hit combos and you can hit him a lot of times. I use his teleport attack against him and sneak up behind.

I really need to get some 2 player action on this game. I hope my friend and his brothers who play like they have a Tekken tournament themselves bought this. I like the changed moves, it might be the only time I beat the younger brother who used to play nothing but Tekken everyday and beat anyone's ass down.

I love scenario mode. It's a cheapo beat-em-up that allows me to take my favorite Tekken characters through the streets and beat people up. Sure it's not the best thing ever but I it's better than nothing.

We have a Mississippi thread at Tekken Zaibatsu and Your location says Hattiesburg which is only like 45-50 minutes away from us. One of these days you should come and play with us. Come to think of it they have players in H-burg as well.

This Saturday we are going to a Tekken Tournament in New Orleans. Gotta make sure Feng puts the fear in everyone's heart.

Cool man, sounds good. The friends I am talking about that play all the time are in Meridian. I am in Meridian for a few days visiting my parents right now. What sucks is that all 3 brothers having different time schedules. So it will be hard to have an old beat down session like we use to do.

I wasn't aware of get togethers in our area. I tend to go to New Orleans for festivals or small club venues like House of Blues, One Eyed Jack's, etc... On November 29th I am going to see Metric at the Republic. $15 a ticket, gotta love small venues in NO. They are a really good Canadian Rock band with their own style and sound. Check out their stuff on Youtube, especially the Live on Myspace videos. Freddie is one of the good ones.

I heard that wireless stick drains batteries like no tomorrow so yea, fuck that stick. I haven't heard anything really spectacular about it's performance either.

Did I mention that other than Scenario Mode I fucking love this game! It is fun and overall the visuals are great! Bob is a hoot to play! So far I am also really digging Miguel(since he has my namesake!) and you can make him look sorta like Rocky Balboa lol.

I can't wait till this weekend to get in some couch time with Chunky Lover53 and Loopz.

I won 2 and lost 2 at the tournament. We arrived at the tournament early so we could ask them to divide it into Mississippi vs Louisiana and they said "sorry, it'll be random" So we just accepted it and went about our business until the tournament started and somehow most of us were playing each other. For some reason too the brackets made it so a handful of people get a "bye" and advance to the next round but the best guy there got 2 byes and got to watch everybody play.

In the end That guy with 2 byes won the tournament and Mississippi took 2nd and 3rd place. I'm not too happy about it. I didn't like playing a fellow Mississippian in the first round. Yeah I destroyed 2 Louisiana people in the tourney one of which I got a perfect on but it wasn't enough for me.

We're gonna host a tourney here in Mississippi and we're gonna do it the right way.
