If the characters have more than one attack chain, I might actually look into this.

And if people explode. I want exploding people. I think people should explode more often in real life.

Ditto.

I have high hopes for this game, though Koei prior to the merger was incapable of finishing a game the last few years. I thought Samurai Warriors 2 and Dynasty Warriors 5 Extreme were excellent, but I got burned on Dynasty Warriors 6 and Gundam, neither of which was worth the money for PS3. Gundam in particular looked like an incomplete beta. On the PS2 front, Warriors Orochi is sheer whoring out pre-existing engine/art for cash.

Hopefully the Tecmo merger will fix whatever has been wrong with Koei the past few years.

This version says fighting in the 80's halfway through, which I have never heard before

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkRDutCC1h4&feature=related

That's off of the official "Original Sound Track" is why. The group TOMCAT who performed the song for the HNK 2 seasons redid the song for the CD complete with the "hey, hey, hey!" in the background a bit later. I dunno why they put 1980s though as the beginning of that whole story is in 199X. Though I liked the song Tough Boy, my favorite opening was the 2nd one used from episode 88 onwards by Kodomo Band (who did Heart of Darkness for the movie) called Silent Survivor (Do Survive!).

Oh, come on. You mean you didn't like DW Gundam?!

I've tried several times to get into the DW games. Samurai Warriors came closer than most attempts. But the combat's just so mindless. I wish Koei would put out a followup to Destrega, instead.

A Destrega sequel would make my day...but that's not going to happen.

Senko no Ronde is kinda like it, but it's just not the same. I wish I didn't trade it in (I was young and foolish).

Video footage, complete with annoying Nico Nico Douga subtitles. One thing that can be confirmed right off the bat: blood and body explosions.

Gameplay looks good so far. Koei released some more info, including that it'll be released on both PS3 and 360.

I can't stand how those Japanese video sites allow uploaders to have a continual stream of scrolling text across the window. So fucking distracting/annoying.

I'd like to see a Souten no Ken game made by Team Ninja.

There's usually a button to turn them off.

NICE. Definite must buy!? Is that for JPN PS3? Any pre-orders or anything up? Last HNK games I picked up were "Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden - Ten no Haoh" (PSP) and "Hokuto no Ken: Hokuto Kami Denshoumono no Michi" (DS). It's about time for more HNK gaming. :D

Wow. I definitely will be picking up a Jap 360 for this game if it does not come to the states.

http://kotaku.com/5382115/tecmo-koei-expects-fist-of-north-star-to-sell-a-million-domestically

Kenji Matsubara, Tecmo Koei Holdings honcho, expects big things of recently announced multi-platform title Hokuto Musou. The game is based on post-apocalyptic martial arts manga Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken).

"Only in Japan, the game should sell a million copies," Matsubara told the Nihon Keisai Newspaper. According to the paper, the game is expected to launch worldwide, given the international familiarity with Fist of the North Star."

Hope this is true!

I remember renting the NES game back in 1988. I can't believe Vic Tokai put it out over here, because hardly anybody knew about FotNS in the US.

I bought it because I had gotten the original Viz 8-issue release of the manga. Horrible game, though.

I really enjoyed the NES game. By the time I had played it, 8-bit games had attained retrochic status, a game where all you do is simply push the punch button makes the dude's head explode in all its pixel glory was some kind of surreal thing. It's the kind of game people who don't play games think exist, something so simple - exploding heads resulting from a single button press - and yet it does.

Total dumb fun for me.

Tecmo Koei's CEO Kenji Matsubara stated the game was planned for the overseas market, so I'd expect that it will geta US release at the very least.

Could be fun.

And I enjoyed the NES game (like Deuce, I bought it based solely off of the exposure to the Viz comic series.) I liked the GB game too, even though both of them were horrible.

I bought the PSX game when it came out and I also picked up the PS2 release of the arcade fighter. Fuck Last Battle, though. That game is impossibly hard.

Hokuto No Ken is a series that lends itself well to video games.

Last Battle (Hokuto No Ken 2) is hard only after you defeat Akisachi the Pirate and move onto the land of Shura. THEN it gets fucking stupid, and without the continue code, it was pointlessly ridiculous. I have to admit, I loved the graphics though.
