I think I prefer the 360 to the PS3

That's right, I said it.

Yes, the 360 has had some major hardware issues, many returns, but that isn't as bad as it used to be now. Seems like the PS3 had issues for some people too, lots of faulty systems on ebay now with either YLOD problems and dead BluRay drives, but like anything, electronics can break at anytime.

Some things I'd swap around though if I could....

Get rid of that ugly unneeded battery compartment on the 360 pad and have an inbuilt charger like the PS3 Sixaxis.

Take away that babyish 360 dashboard and make it look more manly like the PS3's dashboard.

Love the Trophy system on the PS3 compared to the shitty achievement point system on the 360.

Stick a nice web browser on the 360.

The obvious to replace the DVD drive in the 360 with a BluRay Drive.

The 360 looks much better than the PS3, even the slim revision doesn't look great. Stupid placement on the USB ports, its a mission getting your charge cable in without lifting the machine up or bending down awkwardly, like getting a large cock in Kerry Anne's Vagina.

What do you guys think?

Eventually that battery inside the PS3 controller will deteriorate and not be able to hold a charge. What then? Time to buy a new controller or keep it plugged in. I do think Microsoft should include rechargeable batteries at least with new systems.

I'd love to get the ability to hide certain blades or tabs on both Dashboards. That would negate most of my problems.

How are they better? They're the same thing. I prefer achievements because all games have same number of points available, but they basically the same thing.

Stick a nice web browser on the 360.

Eh, it's an ok feature on the PS3. I guess I just need to hook up a KB and Mouse to my PS3 and really try it out instead of using the controller.

The obvious to replace the DVD drive in the 360 with a BluRay Drive.

That'd be nice but it wont happen this gen. MS's next console probably.

That said I get more use out of the 360, but the 360 is a pretty good system, and a lot of titles are multiplatform these days anyway.

Does anyone know for stuff like say Call of Duty 4 is the online community is larger on PS3 or 360?

I would assume the online community would be larger on xbox live. I prefer the xbox as well despite its hardware issues. Sadly have to sell mine and lay off gaming for a bit.

I place a fair bet on the FPS/TPS online community being larger for 360 while fighters have a larger following on the PS3. Just an assumption though.

That's exactly what I don't like about the 360 - way too many FPS games.

It's just what is popular now, particularly in America and well MS is an American company...

I like my 360 better, even though I have had to replace it with a new jasper motherboard 360 version. I prefer the online, controller and style over my ps3 as well. Just me!

I own both and prefer the PS3. Better interface, better controllers, more flexible in functionality, less proprietary shit to purchase ($100 for a wi-fi adapter? $150 for a 120Gb HDD?), but my preference largely comes down to one thing:

I trust my PS3. After one replacement and one repair on my 360, I don't trust it anymore.

PS3 has some nice synergy going on with the psp. I think that is pretty nice, although they don't really make use of it too much at this point. I'm hoping Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5 will show just how cool a feature it can be. Reminds me of when the dreamcast and ngpc could hook up for the snk games (sadly, I never got to take advantage of these features).

That's not the only nice thing about PS3 though, I have noticed it's a fuck ton quieter than xbox 360s. That might not seem like a big deal to you, but it makes me wonder how reliable the 360's are. I give microsoft credit for being able to get it to pretty much push out the same level of graphics as the PS3 (so far - Uncharted 2 and MGS4 are probably the only two games the 360 couldn't handle). However, it seems like it has to work a lot harder to produce the same results the PS3 does. It sounds like a space shuttle is preparing to take off when I'm listening to a 360. My PS3 never gets that loud, even after it's been on for a long time, it's just quiet and that's how I like it (it's originally a 20GB model by the way).

I've said before what I do like about the 360 such as being able to play custom music in every game (as far as I know), and the party chat. That'd be great to be able to talk to anyone on my friends list, while playing any game (I'd probably play my single player games more often if I could do so. Since I can't though, I feel I neglect some really great games like Fallout 3, Killzone 2's single player campaign, etc.).

I'm thinking the online community on the 360 is larger, since almost everyone I know has one (except me lol).

I'm very happy with my ps3....not interested in getting a 360.

It is larger, but in all honesty, there isnt much difference between the two. Except maybe the online acceptance rate of certain online titles create better opportunity for online gaming.

I just bought a slim myself and really love the fact that I can download wallpaper off the internet. To me that is one of the coolest features that it has over the 360.

I agree about that synergy with between the PSP and PS3. It feels like actual synergy rather than a simple gimmick.

Makes me wish I had a PSP.

I didn't get the 360 at launch because I loathed the original Xbox, but I eventually bit the bullet about ~8 months after launch.

I got a PS3 at launch.

As of right now: I own ~25 360 games (and a ton more if you count XBLA games), and 1 PS3 game.

End of story.

I had a 360 Elite for a few weeks and recently traded it for a 60GB PS3, and I'm a lot happier. Points for me...

* 360 sounds like a jet engine when powered on. PS3 is quiet.

* While I know the newer models don't have it, I love the 60GB's full backwards compatibility, unlike 360 half-ass excuse for it

* The Dual Shock 3 D-Pad is so much better for fighters than the 360 controller

* Like wizkid007 said, importing pictures for avatars, icons, and wallpapers is a nice feature

* While 90% of games are multi-platform, PS3 has more exclusives I want to play, but that's just me.

The one thing I will give 360 over PS3 is Live. IMO, Live is so much easier to use, easier to join a online, and has a nicer and more organized interface. I hate going to PSN's main page and having to squint my eyes to see what is what and navigate menus. Live definitely has a bigger user base too, methinks.

You can take apart the controller, and the battery is connected via a standard-looking connection. I've seen a lot of similar batteries; I'm not sure if it's really a standard but it's just a little brick with a 2-contact connector. It's fairly easy to do, for what it is (a once-every-8-years procedure). Still, the 360 controller is better in this regard, but it's like $20 more expensive once you figure in the price of the battery.
I'd love to get the ability to hide certain blades or tabs on both Dashboards. That would negate most of my problems.
I don't really have anything I HATE on the PS3 dash, but having like 5 shortcuts to the PSN store is stupid. On the 360, however, that entire piece of shit is just a massive hunk of ads, and needs to go die in a fucking fire.

That'd be nice but it wont happen this gen. MS's next console probably.
It will be hilarious when Sony gets licensing fees from Microsoft games. They could effectively choke them out once they've started using the Blu-Ray drive - maybe MS will develop their own disc format like Ninty did with the gamecube. I wouldn't be surprised.

There is no such thing as "community" for console games - just consumers. The Call of Duty 4 Windows community is great, though, lots of awesome fast servers.

I own both but I use my 360 a hell of a lot more, however I like my PS3, I think it's awsome but if I had to choose I guess the 360 would have to stay.

i think i like my ps3 more. except its broken (my nov 06 360 keeps on truckin no issues). and id never buy a multiplatform game for it, especially one i wanted to play online.

but the exclusives outweigh the 360's exclusives library, and are pretty much more interesting than a lot of the multiplatform titles too.

though the multiplatform releases for the rest of the year and early 10 look pretty good. stuff like assassins creed 2, brutal legend. and then 360s got forza 3.

but then the triples got uncharted 2 and demon's souls.

if the multiplatform games werent just strictly better on the 360, it wouldnt be a tough call at all, ps3 hands down. forza and gears are still awesome though.

ive always wondered if live was better because a larger majority uses a wired connection rather than the wii or ps3's built in wifi. anyone who uses wifi for online gaming, especially on a console is a tard. and if you complain about lag youre an even bigger one.

Sounds like you wish your 360 was a PS3, Sn00t. I missed the part in your post where you tell us why you now prefer the 360. Perhaps you should rethink this.

"The one thing I will give" the 360 is that on the PS3 you need to "install" updates and games after you download them. Wtf is that?

I just hate paying for online on the 360, and I hate that when I'm playing alone in a quiet room I can hear the console better than the audio from the TV.

I did mention I liked the design of the 360 more than both revisions of the PS3, much better looking.

My main point was what the 360 needs that the PS3 has, not really a comparison of what I prefer, but there are a few things I can say....

I like the 360 Controller more due to its sturdy build quality, the PS3 SixAxis feels very thin and breakable. I sometimes imagine my finger poking through the plastic of the sixaxis like a chocolate easter egg.

The new 360's are allot quieter now by the way, my last Jasper was very quite compared to the first versions, mainly the DVD drive was part of the noise, especially with the constant disk spinning during gameplay, but now its very quite.

I just wish the 360 has some of the things the PS3 has and I'd just stick to the 360.

Obviously there's a few other good things about the PS3, mainly via software with the DIVX playability and updates are pretty sweet as well as customization (Wallpapaers etc). Free online is cool, but not as reliable as XboxLive, but then again, its been a while since I played online with the PS3, so that may of improved abit, Uncharted 2 Beta hasn't been bad at all online, no lag issues etc, but it is slow to get into a game but this could be the way the game is.

Comparing the PS3 Slim to the PS3Phat was a easy task though, they took away that horrid scratching and dust clinging casing, but the Slim still attracts dust and looks shit after a few days in my opinion.

To be honest though, I'm more of a fan of playing some online deathmatch now more than actual games. Looking forward to CODMW2, new maps, some improvements and I'm happy at that.

EDIT: How can I forget about the Hard Drive upgrades though. Well I like the fact that the PS3 also has the inbuilt hard drive too, this should of been the same with the 360, that why you don't feel as you've wasted funds on an upgrade when its already there for use on the PS3. Also great that you can upgrade the PS3 Hard Drive.

The douchebag PC gaming elitist is still around? I thought that breed died off.
