Figured it was about time.

Price drop, a smaller system, enough games I'd like to try, and finally a piqued interest in HD films.

Won't have much time to mess around with it until the end of the weekend, sadly.

Only game I nabbed was Demon's Souls (Aphex's hype is my hype.)

What's up with it just coming with Composite cables?

I was expecting Component.

Actually a little pissed about that.

Yeah they've always done that...even though I got my PSFat for free it still pissed me off that I had to go out and nab component.

I got it during the Circuit City blowout though it was cheap.

I have composite cables, but I'm pretty convinced my TV does jack with it. College funds suck.

Seriously though - Uncharted is excellent.

I have my PS3 hooked up to my 22" LCD Monitor. Looks pretty good. I'm going HDMI -> DVI and then I have the sound output through the RCA cables to some computer speakers :emb:

I was glad you could set up the PS3 to do that.

I wish there was a way we could play Demon's Souls together.

Flower on PSN is awesome :emb:

Of course I am.

It's a nice Toshiba 32" w/component that I picked up for $72 new a few years ago. The interlacing gets on my nerves with high def stuff but the picture is rock solid and I've tuned the colors/contrast/etc. nicely. The only HD game I've had a problem with is Dead Rising and all of my older systems look fantastic.

I went in with no expectations and was blown away.

The demo just doesn't do the full game justice.

I know you guys told me that, but really...it doesn't do justice to the game AT ALL.

I really enjoyed trying to get the trophies for the weapons.

Only thing I didn't do in that game was melee very much.

So true. Whats so impressive is that theres no loading you can notice after the initial savegame load, it just flows from one part to another seamlessly. Really impressive use of the hardware, although the 2nd one blows it away graphically. Naughty Dog really do know how to utilize the hardware properly.

My TV does HDMI so I'll be going that route.

Playing Demon's Souls now and this is so weird (weird = shitty) seeing it in Composite.

I would have grabbed the HDMI cables at the store then and there but I thought there would at least be Component in the box which would have fine for me for the moment.

Its probably a good thing you didn't buy them in the store, they were probably way overpriced. Search Amazon or go to monoprice.com to find good deals on them.

I use component @ 1080i on a tube set for PS3 and when it actually displays in HD (only about 30% of the games:oh_no:), it looks awesome!
