With all the talk about Super Street Fighter IV lately, I've heard very little about Tekken 6. Anyone gonna pick it up?

Me and my crew are all over this shit like white on rice. Just so you know this site isn't tekken friendly in the least bit. I'd say literally a handful of people here play the game. The rest hate the series.

I can't lie, after Tekken 4 I gave up on the series cuz of frustration with the new programmers. Tekken 6 looked like it was gonna be a total failure until they released the Bloodline Rebellion update and fixed the bullshit. Now I'm once again hyped about playin Tekken. I've been training with Feng Wei DILIGENTLY in anticipation so I can be up to par when this mofo gets released.

I guess that's why no one here talks about it, lol. How come hardly anyone here enjoys it?

Good to see some people enjoy it. I've always been a big fan of the series. I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for a new fighter.

tekken 5 was painfully bad in every way. except maybe gameplay---im not a fighter, so i dont know.
but tekken 6 looks unbelievable. i wonder if the music is better than 5s? 4s was bonus.

It's a neo geo site so people here are gonna be more biased towards 2d fighters. Back in the day on this site Tekken did catch a lot of unneeded flack vs the other 3d fighters but I'll just attribute that to ignorance of 3d fighters by the general populace here.

I'm a huge fan myself(not as huge as I was during the Tekken Tag period though). In 2001-2002 I became a very serious player. Serious to the point of where it was my life. My life was totally dedicated to Tekken tournaments. My brother and I would train Mishimas for hours, to the point were we could wavedash and lightdash and hit EWGF's as almost fast and accurate as Korean players. My brother had a particularly disgusting Jin and Heihachi. He ended up getting too good and I couldn't fuck with him after a while.

When 4 came out is when I hit my peak. I played the 2nd best Ling Xiaoyu player in the world at a tournament and he told me I had one of the best Lee Chaolan's in America. After that i joined the Military and moved to Europe and slowly became a sorry piece of trash at Tekken and I'm slowly comin back after moving to back to America 6 years later.

I hated Tekken 4 because it had a totally different programming team than Tekken Tag and I strongly dislike Tekken 5 and DR because of the same programming team and the juggle damage.

IMO 6's music is better than 5's. 5 probably had the weakest soundtrack of all the games. Not one song on that game used to get me hyped like the other games did. I mean I liked some songs on 5 don't get me wrong but they weren't hype songs at all.

This song from tekken 6 BR has me covered in goosebumps. I can't wait to hear it on a stereo system:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e94uZsKoS4w

This song ain't half bad either:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT9EuNLIqNY

There are some stages with HORRIBLE music thought like that fuckin Sheep stage with the Yodeling(what the fuck were they thinking??)

There are a couple of other stages with music that ain't half bad. I think it'll be hard to live up to that Tekken 2 soundtrack but Tekken 6 is a step up from 5 in the sound department IMO.

I still play Tekken DR on my PSP quite a bit. Definitely looking forward to Tekken 6 as well. Tekken was the first game I got for my PSX and I've been down with the series ever since. I'm more of a Virtua Fighter guy, but I will always play some Tekken as well. I think it's kind of unfair when people lump it in with Dead or Alive among 3D fighters.

*raises hand* Oooh ooh, i'm excited for Tekken 6. I first played it last year in Houston and it was noice! Had a chance to play Bloodline Rebellion this year and it looks even better! It would be NOICE if any arcades near Dallas had T6 so I can get some practice in with Asuka, Elisa, and Lars.

It's a mixed crowd down here. This area is actually quite great for the whole fighting game scene, but like Spinmaster says, only a handful of them are Tekken fans. As long as Bandai-Namco (god... bad company merger :oh_no: ) ports the game over correctly, it should be fine. Though I do have to say Asuka is completely broken in the arcade variation.

When Tekken 5 came out, there was this big hullabaloo at both local arcades.
Heck, I got to see the Tekken 5 machine arrive in crate at the Dalton Mall.

But, I've not see hide nor hair of Tekken 6. There doesn't seem to have been a strong a push to raise awareness.

At the last fortnight back or so I saw Tekken 6 on the pre-order list for PSP.
After seeing that SoulCalibur was just a long list of practice modes, I'm not so eager to just jump at picking up the new Tekken; if it gets a PSP version or not.

It's hard to care about a game I know nothing about.
I can assume most of the regular cast is returning. Heihachi and the Kazamas (like Erica Kane from All My Children), A Kangaroo, Mokujin...

Tiger had better be back.
That'll be the character to pique my interest enough to try out Tekken 6.

Count me in as one of those looking forward to it, at least to some degree.

Tekken is not my favorite fighter so I'm not very good at it (no surprise, I prefer 2D fighters), but I still buy the games and play them because I think they're fun.

I'll probably buy it on day one. I'll have probably played NG Smegma 2 to death by then and will need something new tide me over.

The only arcade remotely close to Dallas that I know of is Gameworks at Grapevine Mills mall, but I'd hardly call that an arcade. It is nothing more now than a shell of it's former self. They haven't put in a new arcade machine in years.

I'm down for a local get together or playing some matches online once it comes out though.

The Gameworks in Grapevine sucks big fat floppy donkey balls. I mean they have some fighters in there but most of them are broken. I've made numerous complaints about the MvC2 up there and they say they'll "get right on it" but it's always shit. A worker over the summer said they're getting some new games but I don't believe it for a moment. If they surprise the shit out of me and get Tekken 6 and some other GOOD games, i'll be there at least once a week practicing with Asuka!

I'm looking forward to it! I really like fighting games, plus I wanna see what the heck is up with Jin. I think they said they were gonna fix something about the "keeping your opponent in the air until they die" thing, is that true?

I will pick it up on PS3 on the release date. I have watched a lot of youtube vids on the game, but like the other Dallas dwellers here I have had zero options of playing it for myself. I am a bit weary of the rage and bounce systems however. I feel the last thing Tekken needed was a way to add extra damage to the juggles. Rage actually reminds me a bit of the Ultra gauge in SF4. Get the shit kicked out of you in a round almost to the point of death and manage to land a confirmed juggle to pull out a win so I am sort of hoping those features are able to be toggled on/off in an options menu like block damage has always been. But I will be there on the 27th/28th with Bryan, King, Paul and Lars crossing my fingers so hard they nearly snap praying the online is stable.

Yes, I'll be picking it up on release with the arcade stick. I know it runs on AA batteries but it's wireless damn it. Plus from the reviews it's a damn good stick.

The PS3 port is actually Tekken 6: BR so it should be good. Every character in the game has fairly even damage potential for juggles, so the game itself is quite polished.

Every chacter also punches at the same speed. (For those in the know, this is probably the best thing Namco could have done in terms of balance). Every Tekken prior to this had 8 framers as top tier characters with 9 framers a close 2nd.

After kind of losing interest in the series since 4 (I still hate that game and nothing anyone says will change my mind), just dabbling in 5 and 5: DR, I'll definitely pick this up for 360. I did put some time into Dark Resurrection on the PS3 online, and I'll be interested in going online with 6 on Live. Tekken, to me, is better suited to online play, than, say, VF, by far, since it plays slower. Had a better time playing that online, by far, than VF 5.

So yeah, sure, I'm looking forward to it even though I don't necessarily laud the series' qualifications or anything.

I'd mebbe give it a shot pending a demo playthrough.

I used to play a lot of Tekken on the PS1 but my tastes have changed drastically since then.

The game looks great though, far better than those ancient teaser trailers make it look.

Well as far as arcade machines go I think there are only 2 or 3 arcade machines that exist in America because of the death of Arcades.

About Tiger, You won't specifically see Tiger as a separate character because he's just Eddy with an afro and 70's clothes. The big thing now in 3d fighters is customization. You can make Eddy look like Tiger buy earing gold and buying everything to make him look exactly like Tiger.

Every match you watch a match on youtube each character looks different from the next video.

It's not the how. It's the principle.
I'll be irked if they pull that "locked to another PSP" junk with the game saves again.
Other than that? Yeah. I may pick up Tekken 6. There's just no excitement for me to get it.

both those songs were good, spin. but have they abandoned dnb?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8EYcECwf-I

I don't really remember them having much DnB. But it seems like the style of music changes each game. Tekken 1 and 2 had world music, Tekken 3 had a lot of rock music, Tekken Tag had Electro and Techno music. Tekken 4 up to 6 is just a mishmash of everything.

LOL I could talk all day about that link you posted too. At first we were like "WTF kind of song is this" then it slowly grew on us.

But do you remember this track right here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hjDPj465RE

That lovely Samba influenced music from the Brazilian beach stage! This song NEVER GETS OLD!
