What I can't believe is there are people that don't know Andy Samberg's song Like a Boss is a parody of a real song called Like a Boss from Slim Thug, which is what makes it so funny.
Almost every skit either desperately needed an immediate gong, or went on so long that any comedy it might've had got squashed.
I think you've actually come up with the best way to save the show, bring out the gong.
I admit I've never been particularly impressed with SNL. But I also love all the sort of bizarro rumors, love/hate rants and other stuff that people get into when talking about it. That sort of controversy just feeds it. Do what I did with The Simpsons, they stopped being funny, so I stopped watching and just let it go.
Ironically, the "classic" Simpsons pretty well summarized SNL years ago when Krusty was on Tuesday Night Live, bombs the monologue then starts a sketch with only a handful of laughs before lamenting "uugh... this sketch goes on for twelve more minutes!"
EDIT: Reminded me of another classic Krusty moment.

I needed that laugh tonight!![]()

The thing about SNL is that it was never as good as you remember it being...
There were some really bad sketches on every episode. EVERY TIME.
And Samberg does all the digital shorts. Spoken like someone who truly doesn't watch the show.Only redeemable value of SNL in the past decade has been Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island other than that it's terrible.
I could show you tons. Especially some of Kristen Wiig's recurring characters. You can't get SNL on youtube though.Didn't Lorne Michaels tell Norm MacDonald to leave the show because he was "not funny"?
Uh actually, lets not bother arguing. Just post up a youtube of a recent SNL skit that you think is funny and we'll take it from there.
I'll even give you a couple of months to find one.![]()
Except nobody does, especially on the Internet it seems. No one I know even watches it.Loving it just because everyone else does is an even bigger one. Everyone back in high school always talked about it on Monday and I kept wondering why they still bothered.
The problem with that approach is that you stop seeing the show, so you can no longer make an informed argument before long. I'm not suggesting you should stick with a show even if you no longer like it, I'm just saying.Do what I did with The Simpsons, they stopped being funny, so I stopped watching and just let it go.
Exactly! The Simpsons is a perfect example of another show that's fallen so far from its former glory that it's nearly unrecognizable now.
Hehe, that Krusty clip you posted brought up this one in the "Related Videos" list. Just a reminder of how funny things once were.![]()

I got screamed at by a guy I know who asked me if I had seen a recent SNL episode and I said no cause I don't find it funny. He then when on a hour long rant about how I don't have a sense of humor, I tuned him out after 5 minutes and walked away.

Anything with McBain on The Simpsons is funny! The goggles! They do nothing!
One more Mcbain.
I hate the fact that The Simpsons can't make fun of the network anymore like they used to.
Who watches it when it's actually on?Why would I want to be home on a Saturday night watching TV?
??? They still do that all the time. This is the kind of uninformed blanket statements I'm tired of seeing.I hate the fact that The Simpsons can't make fun of the network anymore like they used to.
Who watches it when it's actually on?
imo, the years when David Koechner (sp?), Jay Mohr and that Chicken Lady guy from Kids in the Hall were on were the least funniest seasons.
If you walked away after 5 minutes, how do you know he went on for an hour rant then? Is this one of those Dane Cook Jokes?
"There was like a Million Firemen there!"
"There is not way there were a million firemen, they would all be running into each other!!"
