I dont know how far I am into the campaign, maybe halfway considering I heard it's a short game. I really like the flashback missions, and I'm not a fan of the hub "missions". Too dark to see anything and you're forced to use the HUD through the entire thing. Then trying to use the HUD on the regular missions is blinding.

Control, sound and graphics, it's Halo. No difference.

Story is pretty decent so far, I like that Adam "Jayne" Baldwin and Nathan "Mal" Fillion are in it as characters rather than just voices like Halo 3. Firefight is pretty cool but I was never a huge player of Horde in Gears 2, but I might spend some time in it with some friends for a while. Haven't tried any of the new (to me) maps for the regular Halo multiplayer though.

Anyone else get this?

It's basically Halo except you have to think a little bit more about how approach situations since you aren't as strong as the Master Chief.

Firefight is Hordes, which is fine by me. Great fun.

I've only just completed the first flashback mission.

I had a helluva time defeating the two Hunters.

I dont now if this is just for ODST or if it happened in Halo 3 but I noticed hunters now have destructible armor. If their backs get enough damage their armor and tentacles will fall off, giving you a larger area to hit.

I suck with sniping really, really bad so I never take them down like that. I know it's the quickest way, but for me that's the most difficult so I try to have a couple of spare sticky grenades to take them down.

I really do miss Elites though. :( Never been a fan of the Brutes. Haven't fought against Elites since early in Halo 2.

Yeah, Master chief can go toe to toe with the Hunters and melee them in their backs to take them out.

This time I used lots of grenades - Spikers and Flame to take them out.

I'm finding the game to be mostly bad so far. It's the same halo gameplay, except they're making me backtrack across the same boring cityscape every 10 minutes. to some beacon thing. Reminds me of the recent wolfenstein game. I hated it there too.

The story isn't interesting me in the slightest. Don't care about some love story, and the voice acting and dialogue is sub par this time around.

Oh, and I'm not liking the music much either. So far it's ranged from this soft jazz piano melody, to some numetal, to some african tribal drum stuff. All of it was good music, but none of it felt fitting for a halo game (well, the tribal drum stuff actually did, but the rest? meh)

how weird. i think this games sound design [voice and music] is far superior to halo3s reused rock riffage.

hearing the saxophone whine in the hub-city was beautiful

4 player Co-op and firefight lagged so bad it was completely unplayable. Not very impressed thus far service wise. Story wise it seemed good.

I had zero lag playing the Halo 3 Mythic Disc online tonight.

I'll have to try the ODST multiplayer.

The 2nd Flashback mission is great.

I can't believe I'm still saddled with this FUCKING NAME (this is Buro) but I have to post. Playing in choppy, slo-mo, lagged up Firefight was pretty awesome; I hope that once I log more time with the game as its supposed to be, I won't start missing this time-bending gauntlet of survival.

I actually like how this game is setup.

I've done 3 or so flashbacks so far but I really like wandering through the city, avoiding the Covenant and only striking when necessary.

You can do a decent bit of sneaking, and pick enemies off before they alert the others, even when they're relatively close which is cool.

The 30 hidden audio logs is a nice touch for those who love to explore.

I don't view going through the city as "backtracking" since I genuinely enjoy exploring.

Liking the progression of the main story arc in Campaign a lot.

Always been a fan of the alternating character perspective on things.

Music is very well done and I dig the cityscape stages thus far.

The Halo 3 engine is showing its age graphic-wise though.

Not an unattractive game but a graphical upgrade wouldn't have hurt.

Halo fans will eat this up (as I've become only recently) but non-carers will go on non-caring.

I'll comment on Firefight over the weekend when I get around to it.

I saw that Best Buy has marked Halo 3 down to $29.99. I never finished that one so I might have to pick it up. I think Halo Wars was also marked down to that price.
