PS3 MAG beta...anyone playing?

After failing to get Wu Tang:Shaolin Style to load on my Triple :mad:

I decided to give the MAG beta I DL'd last week a try.

I boot it up and it's already up to 1.20. No biggie, download/install the 33MB file and get ready to rock.

Once the game loads up I'm presented with a "Receiving updates..." bar with a 2.66GB download. It's currently at 8%. WTF? :mad:

This had better be worth it.

Has anyone else played this yet? Thoughts?

sorry bro bro, i swore the sacred oath

. seeing as how my handle on here is the same as my psn id i'd rather not bite the hand that feeds. i'll just say that so far we are limited to only 2 modes of play and i haven't leveled high enough to be a ranking officer and see the privileges that go along with that. i haven't encountered any bugs or glitches. also, i've been in 128 player battles and experienced no lag at all. the server hours are kinda lame M-F 10:00-1:00 and 5:00-9:00. i work 12hr days so i'm hating the fact that shit is down on the weekends.

on the bright side, from what i've heard phase 3 (preorders) starts 11/12 and will be up 24/7.

that's the max count for the mode that was just unlocked. i think there was only the 1 at first because you need squad leaders and commanders for games this big. i'll post up if i get a chance to play any 256 matches in the weeks to come.

if it comes down to it i'll shoot you my code. Haven't had to use it yet since I'm still in via qore. Was holding onto it because I read somewhere the preorder folks have an extended timeframe into the end of Nov, but that may not be true.

I dunno how the game actually plays because I got bored of looking at Downloading/Installing Update screens for hours every time I booted it up.

yeah, its a long download. I just left it on while I played the 360.

anyway, its worth checking out. In case you aren't feeling it you could always get your 5 bucks back. That sure beats a $25 subscription to a digital magazine with a majority of lousy perks.

I'll tell you all you want to know. I'm really not that impressed by it to tell you the truth. And if by NDA you mean the bullshit stuff you accept to before you boot up the game, well who really cares about that stuff. What you see in the videos on gametrailers and what not, that's pretty much what you should expect. I actually think the game kind of sucks. When I've played it, I've never been sure what exactly I'm supposed to be doing. I kind of think mw2 is gonna be crazy popular and this will soon be forgotten. Just by going on the popularity of the first (which I've barely played, and I've never owned myself).

How does the squad structure work?

All I keep seeing is that as a regular foot soldier you're assigned to one of 4 squads (alpha, bravo, charlie, delta).

Each squad has 8 players, so the 4 squads constitute 32 players which in actual military terms would constitute a platoon.

Isn't there supposed to be 4 platoons of 4 squads each for 128 players per side?

Who is in control of these larger elements?

Why do you continue to post in this thread other than to state that you didn't have a positive experience in getting the game to boot up.

There's groups of like 8 people I think, and you're given some brief instructions what you should do, and some stuff pops up on the hud telling you where to go and do, but when you constantly get sniped or taken out right away, it's hard to keep to your task. Also, the respawn time takes for fucking ever, it's bullshit. I really don't think this game is gonna be that popular.

Of course I know nothing of the gameplay because the stupid ass beta runs at ridiculous times and requires ridiculous updates.

I was the one who asked about the gameplay in the first fucking place and I actually have the beta...what a wonderful game. :oh_no:
