I was just browsing some sites and suddenly I became tempted to re-purchase the console. Such a nice machine and some great games, most of which can be purchased for tuppence.

Y'know, it's the one console I will never, ever tire of, besides the Neo.
So much goodness, such a greatly engineered machine with a brilliant library.
That controller will always feel like home. Instant feel good.

For my money, it's the best gaming system there ever was.

Hell, I loved it so much I created a website based around it. Although I haven't written a review in a while, I'll get back to it sooner or later. I don't play SNES much these days; I been busy with other things, but my love for it still remains. Just right now, not the season.

But the time will come where I dust it off and continue reliving old memories as well as discovering new ones. Good times.

PS- If you're a Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Contra III or Super Castlevania IV fan in particular, you need to check out those reviews below on my website. Dare I say I did a pretty good job on those reviews, and although reviewed 100s of times before, that I managed to bring something new to the proceedings

I have a hard time arguing with that. It was a great all-around system. Well-built and a great library. And by coincidence it is the only console I have hooked up to my tv at the moment.

Wish I never sold my complete copy of Earthbound all those years ago, there's no way I'm paying $250+ for that muthafucka now. I paid $40 for a used complete copy back in 1996. :oh_no:

Otherwise, yeah I'd like to buy back all those awesome games I sold off years ago. Emulators just aren't the same.

I bought it loose last year for $5.

Why ever sell your SNES/SFc? It is the best 16 bit era system by a mile and I'd say 2nd best system ever only 2nded to the PS2.

Definitely a classic system. If we were doing the whole "desert island" scenario, the SNES would have to be my pick.

Just for fun, I recently tried to come up with a list of my top ten favorite games (excluding PC), and the Super Nintendo dominated with 6 entries.

01. Final Fantasy VI
02. Chrono Trigger
03. Super Metroid
04. Super Mario 64
05. Earthbound
06. Super Mario Bros. 3
07. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
08. Valkyria Chronicles
09. The Last Blade 2
10. Secret of Evermore

Oh yeah, a few days ago I decided to modify my cart slot to accommodate the use of SFC games. I don't like the idea of damaging my system, but since I've already got a modded AES and NES, I figured I may as well remove those little tabs. They came out pretty cleanly, but I still have to get some fine-grit sandpaper to polish it off.

I'll still never forget Best Buy had tons of these all lined up for like 30 bucks back when the SNES was finally dying. TONS OF THEM. It was as if they couldn't get rid of them. Now look at it! What a great game, that was. Wow.

I can actually top that. My sister got her copy from a Walmart that had marked them all down to $10. She still has it, too.

How could you not own one? The SNES is quite possibly one of if not the best console ever made. Cheap to own, cheap games and some of the best titles you'll find anywhere.

Along side the Genesis, NES, Neo Geo, PS1...the SNES is a must own.

I gotta give up props to Steve's website. I was never into the SFC scene, just sticking with the SNES classics from my youth. But thanks to Steve's great reviews I was able to find some nice gems like The Firemen, Magical Pop'N and DoReMi!

Sincerely,

Mikhail

Thanks bro. Those are nice games, indeed. Among the SFC titles some of my other favorites include: Battle Cross, Godzilla Kaiju Daikessen, Ghost Chaser Densei, Keeper, Majyuuou, Mickey and Donald (Magical Adventure 3), Otoboke Ninja Colosseum, Power Soukoban, Rendering Ranger R2, SD F-1 Grand Prix, Sanrio World Smash Ball!, Spark World, Sutte Hakkun and man the list just goes on and on. What an ass-kicking library.

The only system that can even rival the SNES is the PS2, IMO. I love both of those systems. If I had a SNES and a 60gb PS3 I'd be perfectly happy.

I sold it because I was crazy. Every time there was something else I wanted to buy and I didn't have the cash, I'd start selling my videogames.

Then, I'd regret selling some stuff and buy the system and sme games back slowly, and then sell it again when the next greatest thing comes along.

I've owned 5x SNES systems over the last 17 years. :emb:

I'm not going to sell it again.

Haha, yes! That's how I got mine. Best Buy had stacks of them, and when they dropped the price to $20, my friend picked it up on a whim. He told me "You gotta get this game. It looks cheesy, but it's hilarious and fun!", so I grabbed one too.

Hell yeah get on some Actraiser. What a great console. So many great games made for it.

I always liked UN Squadron, Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Demons Crest, Illusion of Gaea, Final Fight 2, Gradius 3, FF6, Chrono Trigger and Zelda 3. The list could go on. There are plenty of great Japanese release only games to get for it as well. I liked Front Mission Gun Hazard a lot, definitely get it.

what a great console.when I was young, I only played it at a friend's house, but never had an own. I corrected that mistake in 2006 when I bought a used on on ebay. never regretted buying it and even modified it to play all games(you americans are lucky, you only need to remove the tabs to play sfc games, we europeans have to do some more electronical stuff). from what I've played, I really enjoyed ff 6 and illusion of time/gaia and terranigma(finally a game that was NOT released in america^^), gotta play chrono trigger. super metroid was awesome as well, but too hard for me. I played secret of mana as well, but I have some sort of love-hate relationship to it. on the one hand, I love the characters, the graphics and especially the music. but on the other hand, I hate the fighting system.

Secret of Evermore, eh? I always thought that game got a bad rap, and was pretty underrated. I bought my friend's copy when he was gonna sell it about 12 years ago. I've played through it a couple of times, and I really like it a lot. Some parts are a bit irritating, and the first area you explore is by far the worst one, but it's a good game overall. If they hadn't put 'Secret of' in the title, I bet it would have been much, much better received (though it probably would have sold a lot less copies).

I always thought it was a real shame that game pretty much sunk Square USA — that studio had some potential, but it never really got off the ground.

As for the SNES in general, it's one of my favourite systems too. One of my biggest regrets is acquiring a boxed and complete Super Famicom for about $5 at a garage sale, then losing it somewhere along the line when I moved — without even getting a chance to use it. I've always wanted to replace it, but I know I'd feel like an idiot for paying a much, much higher price when I could just be enjoying the one I used to have. Such foolishness. :oh_no:

Not to mention, the console is built like a tank.

SNES was by far the best system ever! I'd like to get another one or a SFC eventually, but I'm enjoying replaying the classics on VC.
