Please tell me no one here had the misfortune of paying to see Transformers RotFlmao.

So I finally caved in this morning and watched about 75% of a torrent that was partially subtitled in Spanish. Chalk it up to morbid trainwreck-style curiosity on top of impatiently wanting to scrutinize two specific exterior scenes shot in West Philly. I was an extra for those takes that were shot on the campus of Drexel University on June 17th & 18th of last year.

If said scenes were coherently edited(wishful thinking, I know) or framed in such a way that I could freezeframe 'em than maybe I wouldn't mind wasting another 60+ minutes to locate my bystander self...

Based on what I saw earlier today and my tenuous impressions, could I could sum up the film in one line of its dialogue? Sure.

"I am standing directly beneath the enemy's scrotum."

How long will people continue to express surprised dismay at the Transformers movies turning out to be exactly what it was obvious to everyone they were always going to be? How long?

I finally saw the first one a couple of months back on cable and I cannot understand why anyone would like the film.

I can only imagine that the sequel would be just as bad.

Also, how can anyone stand that Shia LaDouche and that crusty Megan Fox?

Apparently all the straight boys think Miss Fox is a hottie, even though she looks as rancid as that Amy Winehouse lass (maybe that's the appeal).

I saw the first one in the theater and the only saving grace was Prime's original voice acting. As for this one, I'll wait until it comes out on cable.

This movie's got the appeal of X3. That's how much I don't want to see it.

Shouldn't be necessary, any more than with the Steve Martin Pink Panther movies, or with the Broderick Inspector Gadget movie.

The first Transformers movie was fucking awful. I won't make that mistake again.

I like the idea of live-action cartoon characters that are way creepier than their animated counterparts, though, so I kind of hope the Trannys' overwhelming financial success will result in more films in this vein

Yeah, I saw it. Much much worse than the first (which was, if bad, at least harmless). It was very busy. Plot elements and emerged and vanished constantly without being established or resolved.

I brought up something like this when the first movie came out. When the brand is already diluted between well over ten cartoon series (I forget just how many, but it's an insane number) and comics, etc., including series that are clearly derivative of pokemon, what exactly is being tarnished? If you don't like the movie, fine, but Transformers has no integrity to begin with.

That said, Optimus Prime is the Christ of 80s cartoons.

P.S. Oh, yeah, and those cg cartoons where they were all furries.

When I was at SFA I took a few writing classes from Joe Lansdale (Bubba Ho-Tep), and he talked about going to see a Minstrel show when he was a boy. He said that the black janitor on duty laughed the hardest out of anyone attending the show. He described the experience as "heartbreaking."

Watching a group of black patrons laugh at the antics of Mudflap and Skids, I think I understand how he felt.

LOL, it actually took me a second to realize you weren't talking about an old time Amos & Andy style pairing. Where's Spike Lee? I think we can get a greenlight for Bamboozled II: Return of Delacroix (only this time he's a cyborg).

I don't understand all the hate about the Transformers movie.

Sure, it's far from being oscar material... but it has some fun parts and seeing the robots in action is awesome.

Transformers movies > Transformers cartoons

The cartoon episodes are basically 25-minute toy ads.

As opposed to a 2 hour commercial for USAF, General Motors, AND toys? Oh yeah, much better. Way more integrity.

The only cool thing about Transformers are the toys.

Wicked awesome toys.

Everything else can be ignored.

I never got to see them in action. I just saw the screen shake a lot.

I guess you got me there. But you have to admit there's a better story behind the first movie at least vs. the cartoons (I haven't seen Transformers 2 yet).

Uh, no I don't. What are you smoking? Better than the worst episodes? Sure. Okay. The quality varied wildly depending on a particular episode's writer. But better than the best episodes? No chance.

And here's another thing I want to say to all the people who keep repeating the mantra, "It was just a 30 minute toy commercial, it was just a 30 minute toy commercial": Having cool toys as a kid is not a bad thing. Having a fucking entertaining as hell show that revolves around your cool toys as a kid is not a bad thing.

I was a little kid in the era just before the law got changed -- back when you COULDN'T have merchandise and toys that tied into kids' cartoons. And let me tell you something, you snobby motherfuckers: IT SUCKED. Being able to tie cartoons into toy lines like with GI Joe, Transformers, and what have you, SAVED the moribund -- and frankly, freaking slit-your-own-wrists-boring -- American animation industry.

I liked the first one, had a couple of cheezy lines, but overall it flowed well, was great visually and had a few comedy aspects to it. Hell at the end of the movie, everybody in the theater clapped, I can certainly say that the people who liked the first one out weight the people who did not like it by a rather large margin.

The second one blew ass though, had high hopes for it too. Was pretty pissed that I spent 10 bucks to see it.

Went and saw the second one when it came out. The wife loved it but she never grew up watching the cartoons. All I can say is that the best part of the entire movie was when Optimus got stabbed and died. :-)

Other than that, it was a polished turd.

I still haven't seen it but am curious to check it out on DVD at some point as I watched them film a few scenes in center city late at night coming back from work. They spent a few nights over 2 weeks I think it was shooting around 13th and Walnut. Does somewhat take the magic out of the movie seeing how incredibly boring a shoot is though.

Hey, That's how I feel when I saw people doing the Chicken Noodle Soup Dance.
