That was a terrible memorial if you ask me, tone deaf singing from mariah and the others. As sad as I am about his death, I think it could of been much better, some edited video with some touching bits in it would of really touched me more than that turnout. He deserved much better than that bullshit, I got bored and turned over to my name is earl, and that's a terrible show. It was more like a show for lame stars to try and up their reputations in the music industry. All the speeches were dull and meaningless, I'm disappointed.

And the biggest question is....was Michael really in that casket.

What an interesting crowd:

Spike Lee, Wesley Snipes, the Kardashians, Lou Ferrigno, Jaleel White, Elizabeth Berkley, Barbara Walters, Tyler Perry, LeVar Burton --now that's a movie that could be interesting.

At least one person on that list should have been required to be naked for the entirety of the proceedings. And no, Jesse Spano does not win by default.

I just realized Michael Jackson's greatest gift to science is only now being realized --in his intense desire to put on an amazing stage show, he managed to clone the world's first human-velociraptor hybrid. At least they got to trot it out for the memorial service:

The "We Are The World" guy was fuck-ugly and should've been shot in the head onsight. Shit, I thought they were doing a "Thriller" number when I walked in for he really could pass as a zombie.

I would have much rather visited the auction of his arcade pieces than hit up the memorial.

Well I was at Anime Expo throughout most of last week leading up to this. I'll say it was quiet and somber up until Sunday when people started checking into hotels nearby.

I will never understand how people feel a personal connection to any celebrity.

Screaming as someone exits a limo does not qualify you to be at a memorial service.

I don't feel a personal connection to most of my extended family when they die, you won't catch me caring about any of this.

For Christ's sake, it weirds me the fuck out when people act like someone murdered their puppy when a celebrity they've never come within miles of dies.

Happens with all kinds of celebrities, this ain't just a MJ thing.

Crazy fucking people. Crying and shit.

I swear when Oprah dies it's gonna shut this country down for two weeks straight.

I used to watch MJ videos growing up and just seeing his memorial service this early in my life hurts. Like Stevie Wonder said, this is something he didn't want to have to do. God wanted MJ more than we did so we have to all accept that.

RIP Micheal Joseph Jackson. You'll be missed by the world and you sure as hell will be missed by me!

Peace and love!

i would have to agree with evil son. Its more of a role that he and his music played in people's lives . . i remember sitting in front of the TV when i was like 11-12 waiting for the premiere of "its black its white" with my brother. . one of the few things we had in common. . . i also got a bit choked up when paris went on and said a couple of words . . . i mean c'mon, to her he wasn't the king of pop but rather, her father who would sing to her and put her to bed. . . . rip mike. . .i will miss you. . .

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but it looks like Buckethead has written and uploaded a song for Jackson called The Homing Beacon. Pretty cool song.

Was real busy at work today and didn't get a chance to even look at the highlights of the memorial services but I'm sure there's plenty of places that are replaying it. I'll catch on it later.

If anything, I feel bad for his family, because I understand it is sad to lose a lose loved one. It's something we can all identify with.

But, yeah. I'm not feeling any personal loss nor will I be losing any sleep over it.

Michael Jackson didn't change the world.

I honestly am a little sad. I know it's dumb and that he probably wouldn't have come out with any more good songs, but I enjoyed Beat it, Billie Jean, and a couple of others so it's sad to see him go.

At the same time I kind of agree with Bobak/Galfordo/Southtown/etc. about how silly the whole spectacle is. Everyone's forgotten about health care reform and other things that are actually important

I haven't watched anything yet, I'll have to check out some of the speeches.

In my defense I mostly meant for my Billy Mays thread to mirror the MJ one.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a huge Buckethead fan and think this is a nice song and a cool way for Buckethead to pay his respects. Very different. Not something you'd expect from a "shredder" like him.

Michael Jackson didn't change the world.

Well, this is a little debatable. I mean, he didn't come up with a cure for AIDS or anything, but he sure as hell donated millions upon millions of dollars to multiple charities.

So I'm sure he's made an impact on many lives out there.

Plus, his music was groundbreaking in the late '70s all the way through the early '90s.

But I agree with you on one thing: it's nothing to lose sleep over. I didn't know him personally so it doesn't have any impact on me.
