I'd be happier if she'd resign speaking.

Anyone who thinks Sarah Palin is hot has some seriously questionable taste. Seriously, what the fuck.

We have a US politics thread. Read, think, analyze. I know it can be a struggle, but you can get through this! :lolz:

I think Sarah Palin is very self serving for doing this a day before our national holiday. It just goes to show you that she is your typical politician and it's all about her. Anyone who actually believes her "this is better for Alaska" rant should have their fucking heads checked.

Actually, No..

I think she did it because it is the best way to duck attention. Nobody is paying attention. All the columnists, pundits and blogger are taking the weekend off.
By Monday, morning, we will be back to discussing other things.

This is what I was just saying to a friend.

Isn't Friday the best day to fire a person or announce a change in corporate policy that is likely to upset people?

I think this was intended to help her position herself for a national run in 2012, but its backfiring and will continue to.

I mean, compare MN's Tim Pawlenty --he's announced he's not running in 2010 (aiming at the White House), but he's sticking it out. Now Palin's got an awkward comparison.

How can this not be read as quitting?

Did anyone in her office play Devil's advocate and run through the questions she'd immediately face? I listened to a back-and-forth between Palin's spokesperson and Anderson Cooper and had to turn it off because, well, while Cooper was professional it started to sound like shooting fish in a barrel.

Just for starters:
  • Palin says she doesn't want to quit the state by sitting around as a lame duck (which she implied others do)... so she's quitting her job. Huh?
  • What if every politician who decided to not opt for a second term just up and quit?
  • She apparently didn't practice her speech much because it ran on and rambled through a variety of unconvincing examples and bad analogies
  • Speaking of analogies, she compared herself to a point guard passing the ball to another teammate. I disagree: this is like a point guard quitting the team so she can start training for a better team.
  • She was upset at the trivial things the press brought up about her and that pesky thing called ethics. But she wants to run for president... did she not notice shit like this?
  • She polled her kids asking her what she should do... now, eliminating Trig for a couple of reasons --I think we can safely bet her teenage mother is going to be a big fan of getting the lights off of the family.

Actually, the fact that Palin resigned because she claims she was tired of dragging the state through her own personal issues probably annoys the hell out of Gov. Sanford :emb:

Picking a Friday to release political news you want quiet is common, but the day of the holiday weekend was a terrible choice --now all the 4th BBQs have a topic of the day, and people who are searching for more MJ death news are going to hear about this too.

All this does is make me feel bad for McCain and all the sane, intelligent conservatives who backed him only to get associated with this mess.

How can she not be concerned that people will associate her with quitting early? It would be something I'd bring up over and over if I were her opponent's campaign. The lady is a fucking flake.

I'm sure the state of Alaska is heaving a huge sigh of relief right now.

Honestly, THANK GOD. The nation needs stability right now and she was never the answer for the Republican Party anyway. Charles Krauthammer is a brilliant guy but he's absolutely crazy if he thinks because of her so called popularity that she will be a factor in 2012. After the past election and with this economy people will not vote for symbolism but rather substance.

Oh right, you think the memory of Neo-Geo.com is so short that we're gonna let you get away by taking pot shots at Sarah Palin like the McCain campaign aides only interested in defending their own political acumen.

I know what I wrote but then again, I never had a chance to see this woman.

After watching only 15 minutes this speech...

I would be shocked if she didn't get 75% of the female vote in the U.S.

She is kicking ass in this speech and I am declaring this election officially OVER.

As a matter of fact, I will go on record to declare this the first landslide since Reagan took 49 states over Carter in '80.

I am reporting objectively. I still disagree with her daughter having a child at 17, but this woman is going to go down in history.

Every young girl, and for that matter guy, who thought Obama was hip are going to find Sarah Palin not only HOT...but much hipper.

Watch...

Hey I was wrong with my prediction and at that point it was equivalent to hoping the Detroit Lions would win a game last year. Not that you had time to notice between all of your time spent posting worthless garbage on this site and the Huffington Post.

My comments were based on her 15 minute speech which almost all Republicans would agree was the highlight of her political career. In retrospect though, I'd be willing to bet that most anyone right now would take Sarah Palin over trillions of dollars in defecit, government ownership of private companies, and government run health care. That is however unless you are a social worker making $30K in his 30's still living with his parents which explains all of your liberal views. The poll numbers are proving it, Obama has had three days running in a row where more people disapprove of the job he is doing than approve.

I just don't think she's the answer for the Republican Party.

People voted on symbolism this time around. Next time out they will vote on substance. It will be the reverse of the Nixon/Kennedy TV debate.

By the way, who is "
" There are tons of people who disagree with your left leaning views but quite frankly just don't have the time to spend arguing with you. Why not utilize your time better by going out and helping out your boy Corzine who's down by 10 points to Christie.

The worst thing is that it plays into the new Liberal Meme that has been killing Republicans.

ERRATIC

Who the fuck walks out on her state during a crisis like this? Maybe somebody that went through 4 colleges before finally pooping out a a BA in Sports Journalism.

I wouldn't put too much stock in her erratic behavior hurting the Republican Party as I don't think she had a snowball's chance in hell to become President anyway.

Does anyone really think after this last election American's are going to take a chance on a woman from a small state with two years of experience to become the next President?

Seriously, compare Kay Baily Hutchingson to Sarah Palin and then ask yourself who you think is more qualified.

If this happens I'm moving to Canada next to Ninny.

Sometimes, I almost feel sorry for Ms. Palin. With all the scrutiny that she has received.

Then I think of this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXBfEhGub60

just to add to THAT hypocrisy, apparently she wants to legally go after bloggers for what they say about her:

"To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as 'fact' that Governor Palin resigned because she is 'under federal investigation' for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation," Van Flein said in a statement. "This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law."

The funny thing is, Nobody has really reported that....

She is just trying to get in front of a potential issue... It's politically dumb. Now I wonder....

Just like how she wanted Steve Schmidt to release a statement because some blog mentioned her husband's registration Alaskan Independance [Secessionist] Party. She was asking him to spin it. But he smartly just said to ignore it, rather than try to make it a national issue.

Love or hate Fox News I think it is totally irresponsible that Fox is smothering us with almost as much coverage on Sarah Palin as we heard on Michael Jackson.

Sarah Palin was NEVER going to be the answer for 2012...PERIOD.

1. Most Idependents and at least 30% of Republicans can't stand her.
2. Democrats can't stand her even the Blue Dog Democrats.
3. Only 2 years experience as governor.
4. No clear answers on any issue.

It is an insult to true conservatives to think this woman is the only answer. Fox is doing a disservice to the conservative movement by even bothering to give this woman extended coverage. Where the fuck does Fox News get off by saying that the "Republican Base" supports her?? I consider myself a part of the Republican base and I don't like her.

I have based my opinion, as compared to last fall, after watching this woman for a number of months. All I see is a bitter bitch who thinks she knows everything. Now when I look back on the speech I so enthusiastically supported last fall, I see a self righteous woman who has a huge chip on her shoulder. If you thought Hillary Clinton was polarizing you haven't seen anything yet.

Seriously, if David Letterman said shit about my sons and daughters I wouldn't give a rat's ass. Just like I wouldn't give a shit back in high school if someone made a joke about my Mom. There are certain things to fight for such as our state, property, and federal taxes going up. But Christ, I'm sick of watching TMZ type coverage about Brangelina, Megan McCain, Brittany Spears, etc and now I have to endure the same shit on Palin.

I know I know, change the channel. But, my Rays are shitting the bed, there's no football for another month, and all the shows are in repeats so what the fuck am I supposed to watch?? I think I need to get out more.

With the economy in it's current condition, do you think people care about 2012 or getting a fucking job and not having their house foreclosed on?

Glenn Beck is in love with this lady so there's another show I have to avoid on Monday.

Sorry Eggy, as crazy as you sound, you arn't a member of the Republican base.

You might not vote for Devaul Patrick next year, buy you are far removed from people who believe all sorts of crazy shit like:

1. The Earth is 6000 years old.
2. That men give birth to babies (thus why Obama could have been born in Kenya).
3. That Sadam Hussein was really hiding weapons of Mass destruction to supply to OBL.
4. That the term "Separation of Church and state" was invented by the ACLU in 1955.
5. That Reagan never raised taxes, gave amnesty to undocumented workers, placated Muslim extremists, or engaged in reckless spending.
6. That the Vietnam war was just and we lost simply because of the hippies.
