Nice.

What do you need to do to get them working proper? Are the screens ok? Are you going to do something with that button layout?

Cabinets are in solid shape, no dents or dings but there are surface rust spots here and there... they're also dirty as hell. Gonna strip down and restore both of em. Neither has a monitor, so I'm on the lookout for something suitable.

As far as button configs, 3 should be fine for a vertical cab, but I'll need to fashion a new panel for horizontal.

...and speaking of Evo World, who's bringing what? No consoles this year, just cabs and superguns/hamaba-chans. I have the 4P X-man cab and the 2-slot MVS mini-bigred. Chris has his Astrocity, EXCITING VIDEO GAME, and the Hamaba-chan tachi. What say you all?

I can also bring my MVS-2-13 (with a four slotter in it), and agreed re consoles. Let's just build ourselves a good arcade cabinet showing for Evo.

New local arcade in town!

GAMEWORLD, the used game/card shop which used to be on Spring Mtn & Durango, just moved to their new location on Charleston near Jones. Alongside the storefront part of their location, they've added an arcade that'll be open late every night. Went through there really quickly yesterday on the way back to the office from lunch, but I did see a nice selection of fighters, three big red cabs, and a handful of bemani titles.

Charleston and Jones, eh? Good, someplace I can get to easily. Anyone else want to take a trip down there?

Never heard of those guys before, but after watching some youtube videos, I'm thinking of going to Zia and picking a couple of CDs to give them a try.

Anyway, unless you're comped somehow, concerts out here charge RAPE $ for tickets, so I'll have to give a pass on the concert itself, but howabout some dinner and drinks before or after the concert?

Sounds good. Do you know what games he has?

Todd and I took a trip down to the arcade yesterday. It's technically on Charleston @ Upland, and the store's connected to the arcade.

The fighting games are towards the back (With at least 3 Neo cabs) with the dancing and driving games lining the front and sides. Adam managed to get some photos, but the one on my phone doesn't work well without sufficient light.

Once I bring my proper camera out, I'll take some photos. Could it be the return of the Sunday afternoon get togethers? :D

Did a little digging on EVo and here's what I found out:

The Evo2k site is as uninformaitive as it always is. They do have a FAQ this year, which is nice. Unfortunately, is dosen't say where the event is taking place inside the Rio, but there's a nice little blurb that is relevant to my interests:
Is the BYOC section free?
Yes. You don’t have the pay the venue fee to play on the casuals-set ups. You’re more than welcome to bring your own system. The tv’s are provided but keep in mind they are in limited quantities. Try not to have a setup where you’re alone playing the cpu when there’s 20 people on a single setup waiting in line. From time to time people bring their cabs from home or supergun set ups as well.

Anyway, after a little google-fu, I found this tidbit;
The Tournament is being held at the Rio Suite Casino Resort in the Pavillion 1 and 2.

...and the Rio's convention/meeting website, which is worlds better than the Trop's from last year. It has MAPS!

So looking at the site's map, and if the information on the sign-up page is correct, the event will be in the blue area, which has a loading ramp right next to it, which would be nice (for a change). I want to recon the site and maybe chat with either security and/or the meeting room's staff sometime in the next couple of days.

I don't have access to a truck this year. If you guys want the purple cab, it's going to have to be picked up at my place. I'm working Friday as well so let me know if you guys still want my cab.

Still not as bad as the A-Hole at Game repair on the east side of town.

Update:
Chris' Astrocity is working ok, the CP still needs to be replaced due to controller wear, but that's no big deal.

Chris' EXCITING VIDEO GAME is working ok, after testing several other boards, it turns out that the flakey rom-hacked SFII-CE(HF?) board is just flakey. Also, it dosen't have a "TEST" switch that I can find, also no biggie.

I finally got the wiring harness and CP mounting bolts worked-out how I want them on my X-men 4P cab, so that's good-to-go. (it just needs more 4P games)

My MVS-mini is ready. All I have to do is get scans of marquees of everything that's going into it and use the Gimp to convert them for the digital marquees, so after loading-up the second TV for Hamaba-black, all my stuff's good-to-go.

Today, I'm going to finally get the sliding shelves installed on Hamaba-blue, which will increase the available lockable storage space considerably.

Also: driph, do you still have the stock leveling casters on your Mini? I put 2" heavy-duty swivel casters on mine, and it so much easier to move around. If you buy the casters, I can install them for you on Thursday when we come over, if you like.

I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to have a tiny cab on wheels @ EVO.

Heh.

Yeah, I've got stock leg levelers on all my cabs... have considered casters before, but decided against it due to stability and the added height. Plus, with a decent hand truck most cabs are easy enough to move.

Taking the day off on Friday, will be available any time after 7ish pm on Thurs.

It's not like someone can just pick it up, put it in their pocket or backpack, and walk off with it. It's little for a cab, but it's still furniture... Heavy furniture.

No one will steal the cab during the show but if you don't think the thought of taking a a cab on wheels when the door's closed then you are naive.

I've had to replace too many ATMs because someone thinking they get rich taking one of them. Your cab will be in an environment where they are a lot of enthusiast borderline nut jobs at this event. Need an example: watch the crowd at Marvel/Capcom 2 matches. 'nuff said.

My job makes me be overly cautious because in my field, everyone is a thief.

Then, if that's that case, I can maybe... try booby-traping it with pepper-spray?
