So when you die I shouldn't absolve you for buying 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand on release?
While he was still alive, let's get real...he was pretty much shunned my most folks. I used to have this whole line of reasoning that basically said, "You know, no matter how bad you may have fucked up in your own life...you haven't fucked up as badly as Michael Jackson." The man had the entire world by the balls in his 20s...and couldn't hang on.
The guy had more talent than just about any of us, save for perhaps a few other musicians and athletes. Arguably the most famous individual on Earth in his lifetime. And yet, despite all this, despite access to untold wealth and the ability to literally do whatever the hell he wanted...he couldn't escape his demons. No one in his big crazy entourage or insane family ever had the balls to tell him, "Dude...fuck off with having a bunch of eight-year old boys here for a sleepover. See a shrink...stat!"
I'm not excusing what he may or may not have done with children. Fact is, we get into a massive gray area when we are talking about the motivations of the parents of accusers. So much money at stake, so much 'evidence' based purely on who said what...no one can claim a monopoly on the truth. Does it excuse it if he did it? No. But none of us are God, and if there is in fact a God, he's being judged right now. It's out of our hands. Again, let he who is without sin...cast the first stone.
In the end, I like to think of it as a positive commentary on humanity that most folks don't want to roll around in the mud of the man's dark side. They just want to remember that talent that burned within him, that power to create these amazing songs that made people the world over shake their asses. Music is one of the few things that does bring people together regardless of nationality or religion and he was perhaps the only undisputed global superstar ever. We all have memories of our own lives tied to these songs, they all recall an age where pop culture wasn't so splintered and channel-specific and we all grooved more or less to the same shit.
This whole phenomenon is about a lot more than one man and his shortcomings.
It's a mistake to think so.
In my opinion, Joe Jackson's abusive upbringing fucked Michael up.
But there are a lot of former child stars
And they're pretty much uniformly fucked in the head. Personally, I think he was a deeply disturbed individual, who needed help and support that he was never able to get, with his status and fame. And by the time his emotional instabilities became public knowledge, he'd already been demonized to the point where it likely felt like an exercise in futility. I don't believe he was ever guilty of child molestation; rather, I believe that a bunch of opportunistic parents decided that he could be their meal ticket. He was subject to smear campaigns of many kinds, and in the court of public opinion, you're guilty until proven innocent, and even then, you're still guilty.

Wow there's a whole lot of douchebags in here and what's surprising is that most of them are regulars in here. I guess just 'cause we all like the Neo doesn't necessarily mean they're all common sense individuals. MJ was a great artist/entertainer that was his magic, that was his thing. This world is growing angrier everyday and it shows in the simplicity of people's demeaning attitudes.
It's to be expected with all the generated hate that comes with the any mention of Michael Jackson.
Derogatory stupidness is usually coupled with a simple thinking pattern, I guess I could be wrong though, but for the most part any situation where people easily place judgement on things they know nothing about like in this case MJ they simply opt for what seems acceptable within the confines of their own world.I love how "not revering MJ" or "believing MJ was a pedophile" are being equated with "being simple."
Awesome leaps there.
WHO CARES? 30 years? I wouldn't trade the last 150 years of pop music for the welfare of even 1 kid. Why don't we just have blood sacrifices if pop music is so fucking important -- more than people's lives.Without him, pop music of the last 30 years would have never existed.
lolrip in peace
That was pretty funny.
