I'm glad I ate before returning to this thread
I'll dig up some photos later.
* blue-cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped, dates: My god, they're awesome.
where does one find these?
Argh, that was the one I was hoping no one would ask: I had them once, as a special, at a restaurant that never had it on the menu again

It was the Border Grill, which now has a few locations in LA and one in Vegas --I've met the two women who founded it, they have a real gift with pan-Latin American food. I guess you could try making your own, but I don't know if there's a trick --with that said, the three flavors so perfectly compliment each other: the first thing you taste is the smoky bacon, then you get the power of blue cheese in a later harmony with the rich, sweet flavor of the dates. As soon as I saw the special I though "wow, this could really work!" It did. I've since been to a place that did bacon and dates, but it wasn't the same.
Frankly, it was one of those dishes that completely revolutionized my interest in high cooking and opened me up to going a step further and exploring molecular gastronomy.
Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich (from Montreal - Schwartz's or Main).
Hah, I was thinking about mentioning Schwartz's, but poutine and the Montreal bagels from Maison du Bagel probably topped it IMO.
As for eastern European fare, I prefer pierogies over the cabbage ones.
Did Fuddruckers kill your mother and rape your father? Cuz that is one angry response!
I just have a problem with crimes against humanity, that's all
You should hear my opinions when something actually pisses me off. Fuddruckers merely stains the planet with its existence and exceptionally overrated, just-above-McDonalds food.
